Why don’t you ask them for a printed estimate? They can’t overcharge whether they are the sole dealers or not. Most probably they are charging 1k or odd for painting the mirror cap.

They are known to get a little creative when insurance is involved though :) They push it to the limit (which they know from experience) which the surveyor will approve.

We can understand and ignore if someone used your car image on Twitter without your permission. But, today I saw on https://www.skoda-auto.co.in/shoppin...ia-accessories that they uploaded your car image for front parking sensors. I am surprised to see Skoda's graphic team using a customer's car image without permission and publishing it on their portal.

Not sure what sort of amateurs they have for such jobs. First the parking sensor itself was nothing but a stupid aftermarket device brought in just to add to their list and next, they couldn’t design a proper graphic for the same :Frustrati

Thanks for the suggestion. I will ask them to share a printed estimate with the breakup. Also I had a talk with the SA who had delivered our car . He had told that he would look into the matter if they can reduce the price. And regarding the workmanship, rest assured I am going to stand while they're refitting the mirror. But insurance is a point on which my father and I are having different views. He doesn't want the car to stay at workshop, so he wants to settle the matter with cash. We require both of our cars regularly, so that's why it'll be difficult to keep the car for a long duration. Le's see what happens.

I forgot to update this thread. The dealer is not willing to share any printed estimate, but they are assuring me that the part will arrive by Wednesday or Thursday.

Though unrelated to this topic ,I would like to know if anyone here has added the front parking sensors ,which is shown on their accesories website ? The dealer in Kolkata is saying that there is no front parking sensor available ,and they have not heard of any new brochure ,containing the new accesories  Specifically, if a bhpian from West Bengal has got the front sensors installed, I'll be able to give them their reference .

The car completed a little over a year and the Odo stands at 9k. My daily ride is a Vento TSI so Slavia is reserved only for weekend and highway duties.

Ever since I got the car the chrome bits were an eyesore & it was decided to get them deleted once the car completes a year. I spent few weeks looking for someone in Bangalore who could help me but either the place had poor reviews or were willing to do only partial chrome delete or wanted the car to be left back for 4-5 days.

One fine day I came across Vinyl'ed on Instagram and reached out to them. They replied with a confirmation and assured the work can be completed in one day. We locked a date & time to carry out the work , I reached the place well ahead of the schedule and the car was taken in for work at 10 Am on the dot.

Met Vaibhav who explained me the whole process and options that I can consider. He suggested few other mods which I've parked aside for later subject to home minister approving the spend budget :D

Also the style variant gets Piano black trim which is a scratch magnet without even touching it:Frustrati

This was another area which many shops outright refused to cover it with PPF , Vaibhav was able to get them PPF'd without having to open the dashboard or the gearbox enclosure. While he was confident he can open them safely I didn't want to risk it.

The Chrome delete was largely done by wraps. Logo & letters were rubber painted which look quite good at least for now. Only time will tell how well they'll hold up.

Overall the work done was as promised & met my expectations. The total amount came close to 23k which I personally felt is fair considering the amount of labour it took to get the everything done.

I will now let the pics do the talking.

Red + Black - Chrome looks wicked!:thumbs up

The only additional thing I'd have probably done is debadge the rear and go sleeper, or just keep the 1.5 badge if one's inclined to indicate the 'size' under the hood.

Either way, visually, the car looks SO much better sans the chrome bits.

Can you share the picture post installation? Where does the display come, in the infotainment system? Saw a video regarding retrofitting the sensors in a Polo, it looked neat. Here is the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDsPHnxocuE

Thanks Chetan :D , I do plan to debadge 1.5 and keep just TSI or let it go completely. The next & the last mod in my mind is to get the alloys covered in Black. Will wait for another month or so to complete the final mod and then shift focus on my white Vento which also has good amount of Chrome & is in need of some TLC

It seems Skoda has silently discontinued to 1.5 Manual Transmission as this combination is not there in price list section. Now in VW 2.0 only Virtus is offering the manual transmission with 1.5 engine. They might be clearing the 1.5 manual inventory before launching the impending facelift.

I was getting an error message on the instrument cluster to replace the key battery after 2 years of use. I opened the key to find the battery type. It was a Panasonic CR2032 3V.

Key with old battery:

I ordered the same battery type from Amazon and installed the new battery.

Interesting. I thought ADAS was coming along with their facelift. Any idea when this is expected and is it going to be before the facelift?

Going by the manual go live date, the cars will only be out sometime early next year, at least, from what I've noticed in the past.

When Skoda offered a cheap aftermarket front parking sensor, I was distraught seeing this and thought why not do an OE retrofit. After seeing a person install OE front parking sensors on his Kushaq on social media, I bit the bullet and got my hands dirty trying to install this on my Slavia. After many days of breaking my head and ripping apart the car, I was able to first prove that this works fine. Got a 8K optical parking sensor kit from Aliexpress for the same. Followed by this, I will do a clean install and am pretty excited to finally have this working:
POC is complete, stay tuned for the actual install :D Will post a detailed guide for the same once this is done to benefit others who are interested
