When Skoda offered a cheap aftermarket front parking sensor, I was distraught seeing this and thought why not do an OE retrofit. After seeing a person install OE front parking sensors on his Kushaq on social media, I bit the bullet and got my hands dirty trying to install this on my Slavia. After many days of breaking my head and ripping apart the car, I was able to first prove that this works fine. Got a 8K optical parking sensor kit from Aliexpress for the same. Followed by this, I will do a clean install and am pretty excited to finally have this |
You've done a good job, but could you please let me know how are you getting stuff from aliexpress? I really miss shopping off that platform :crying

I have been regularly ordering stuff from China via alibaba/aliexpress. But it doesnt make sense for smaller items like earlier. Anything above 1k value is worth IMO.
One way is to message the seller and conduct a direct transaction via paypal. This works in most cases. The other way is to ask if they are on Alibaba as well. Most of the times they are. That’s still available in India and not banned for reasons I don’t want to talk about. So you can still conduct a completely online and recorded order on Alibaba.
There are no longer registered post options for shipping and it is always through DHL/Fedex/third party freight forwarders like Yanwen etc who do an excellent job. I get my parcels within 5-6 working days worst case and best case being three days via DHL but with an expensive customs handling fee.
If this post doesn’t belong here it can be moved to the online shopping thread

That’s very interesting, I was about to make that impulsive purchase but held myself thinking about the complications in writing and installing. Please keep us updated, very curious.

Followed by this, I will do a clean install and am pretty excited to finally have this working: - OE retrofit with 8 parking sensors
- Display on Infotainment screen
- Auto detect and start up
- Virtual button on infotainment for manually turning it on
- Possibility of maneuver braking and rear cross traffic alert
POC is complete, stay tuned for the actual install :D Will post a detailed guide for the same once this is done to benefit others who are interested |
I have been waiting for this since I learned that front sensors can be retrofitted on Slavia. The ASC said that their sensors cannot be fitted in the Ambition variant due to supposed BCM incompatibility. Not that they were interested in procuring accessories which were not in their stock. They constantly said no one has ordered for them in Eastern zone, so they will not be able to get the sensors.
I have one question. Will this void the Electrical warranty? Since its aftermarket? Also is it compatible with Ambition variant and the 8 inch infotainment system? Can you please also post the link of the product ?

Could you pls share details from where did you find these damping materials.
Need to do the same for my Tata Tiago and Honda City |
Car Concepts Shop Website is a reliable source for delivery of products online, if you're in Delhi NCR try Pal Motors Jheel.
Was looking at the 1L top end auto, but no urgency yet with my existing Verna.
Pl advise if you feel its worth waiting for the facelift thats launching around May next year or picking up the current model is fine.

If you can, wait till next year.
If the FL is good, go with it. If not, you can get good discounts on the current model next year.
I own Slavia Ambition 1.0 AT purchased in July 2022. Within a year in May 2023 the battery died and was required to be replaced under warranty.
Last month the engine light started on the instrument cluster along with an error for Auto/Start stop function. I gave my car to Regent Skoda service center in Kandivali, Mumbai. They informed me that the battery needs to be replaced and also the O2 sensor needs replacement.
Reason for battery failure was unknown and I don't see the battery light on the instrument cluster yet. For O2 sensor being broken, they mentioned it is because of using substandard quality of fuel.
For replacement of both the parts, they are asking to pay and not cover under warranty - battery has 2 years warranty and O2 sensor while covered under warranty, since they believe it was because of substandard quality petrol, it is owners fault and not covered under warranty.
After a lot of back and forth with the service advisor, they agreed to waive off 70% of the cost for battery and O2 sensor as a goodwill gesture.
My question is how to escalate this further since I am unable to accept that battery can die twice within 2 years and they are not ready to accept the replacement battery was substandard, resulting in this failure. I refuel from a HP COCO outlet near my house and don't remember refueling from any other outlet in the past 9 months.
I am not even talking about dozens of other minor issues that keep coming up, but not covering these issues in warranty is something I am unable to accept. Has anyone faced similar issues on battery and O2 sensor? How can I escalate this matter to Skoda India, customer support of Skoda directs to Regent Skoda management itself and that is going nowhere.

About the 8 inch infotainment, if this is the one which replaced the 10 inch unit for a brief period of time, it should work since its a global model. But about the base variant HU, I am not sure.
Electrical warranty? Dont even ask me. rl: At least I cant justify to any ASC how this is a mod that shouldnt affect my warranty. I will only try to have a friendly negotiation and hope they would not use this as an excuse to refuse a claim.
This is the link. Works for now but since Aliexpress does not offer official sale in India, you need to contact seller and arrange the transaction

Thanks for the information. But the link for Aliexpress is not opening on my browsers. Can you suggest some alternative options?please:
Edit : The link opened after switching on VPN. But still I can't understand how to contact the seller. And should I purchase the module with the button or without it ? Please help me on this matter.

You can choose the option without button, since it can be wired to the head unit(if you have the 10 inch one) to activate. If yours is the 8 inch HU, then there has to be a separate button specific to your car. For me Aliexpress works fine with ACT broadband and Airtel internet. You get an option to message the seller which you have to use.
I am looking to buy a Slavia 1.5MT in Bengaluru and know dealers that still have stock even though this has now been discontinued.
Lately, I have been reading horror stories about after sales of VAG group cars on Twitter. Are these true for VAG 2.0 cars such as Slavia/Kushaq ? Can someone who has put a lot of mileage on their ODO in Slavia or Kushaq opine about this ?
This is the final piece that is stopping me from buying Skoda. I have kept Verna as a backup.

I have faced similar issues over the last few weeks where they recommended me to replace my O2 sensor (check engine light) and an impact sensor (air bag error). They are saying that I am getting this air bag error because I might have hit my car somewhere but that is not true.

Hello Heironymous,
My slavia is 1.5yrs old and 21K KM run. Have been to the ASC ( Tafe Access Kudlu Gate) 4 times
1. For a General Oil Top Up at 7500 KM
Quick Hassle Free Oil Check and Topup
2. Bumper Replacement and Painting due to an accident
Paint job and Replacement done in two days, Gave the car back with a scratch on the door which on pointing out was promptly accepted and painted to satisfaction( but took two days more)
3. First Service
No Nonsense Service. No pushing for add-ons, no delays. Delivered car same day and in top notch condition
4. For a hard gear selector switch
Was attended by a Senior SA, who then called the Gearbox Specialist, did a 7-8 KM TD and gave thumbs up that nothing is wrong. Since then driven 5K Odd KM and nothing yet( touch wood)
I can talk only of the ASC that I visited and till date they have not let me doubt my decision to buy the slavia even once.
If you are in BNG I would recommend you the Kudlu Gate Tafe ASC. You Won't Be Disappointed.
Happy Motoring
