Is there a difference in noise level after installing this?
How much did it cost? |
It's too early for me to comment on the impact. Will share the update in a few days.
It costs around Rupees 880.
Wanted to check if anyone else is facing frequent disconnection while using Apple Car Play.
In my case, whether I connect using a wired connection or use wireless, it keeps getting disconnected randomly and is quite frustrating especially while using Maps or when I’m on a call.
The Kun VW service center folks couldn’t troubleshoot or fix it. Looked up online and saw a few threads on this being an Apple issue more than a vehicle specific one. Is anyone else facing this issue and can help with any suggestions on how to fix it?

I have faced this issue, have completed just 650 kms on my 1.0 Highline AT. While visit to the showroom for getting the HSRP and hood insulation installed, I asked my Sales Advisor on the reason. He mentioned that it is mostly due to overheating of the phone. The system disconnects automatically to prevent further heating.
I will observe this more and get clarification during the swagat service.

I had issues only with wireless car play and in exactly the same locations all the time. Its due to some wierd Electric interference. For example when I cross a railway bridge above the 25kv Electric line, Carplay shuts down very predictably. This has happened every time I cross the same bridge. Wired carplay has only failed once in the last two years, due to a worn out cable.
For carplay disconnection issue, check the head unit software - Latest is 0709 which is available at VW. Get that installed and this should solve the issue.

Thanks! From what I’ve observed, this happens irrespective of whether the phone is not overheating or not. Sometimes, it happens right after starting the vehicle and driving for a few minutes.

Thanks! I’ve stopped using wireless carplay and switched to wired hoping it’ll work but it still disconnects.
Will check the head unit software version. Perhaps that will solve the issue.
Is anyone using a dash cam with hard-wiring on Virtus? Any impact on warranty? I want to use a dual channel dash cam with parking monitoring on my Virtus Highline AT.

One way to avoid hardwiring or warranty issues is to connect your dashcam to 12V socket as it's always ON in Virtus and will enable having parking monitoring for your dashcam.

Also someone had a drained battery after keeping the dashcam connected for 1-2 weeks with parking monitoring. Please read through the forum.

The one I have from Red Tiger has a hard wiring kit which prevents battery drain as it cuts off the device after battery charge diminishes to a certain level. Well, that's what the manufacturer claims. Do such setups also drain out the entire battery?
Is anyone aware of a good shop in Pune who can help de-chroming? I see Brotomotive actively involved in detailing different cars but do they also do de-chroming? Also if anyone has done, what is the expected cost for de-chroming the Virtus GT?
1000 kms update on Virtus 1.0 Highline AT Reflex Silver
I got this car delivered on 5th August, 2024 but started driving just 10 days back. Have crossed 1000 kms on the odo, thanks to my daily commute from Noida to Gurgaon.
I will share my observations in these 1000 kms in the form of cons, pros and the neutral bits.
Cons:
1. Brake Noise: The brakes are too noisy for 'any segment'. This noise completely takes away the feeling of driving a made-for-enthusiasts chasis.
2. Vibrations: Although the engine is not much noisy but the vibrations are felt right on the front centre armrest, not only during cold-start but throughout my one-side journey of ~50 kms.I never used to feel this on my diesel Ciaz but this car is making the armrest useful just for storage.
3. Wireless Charging: Apart from being wire-less, the charger placed in the front console is use-less too. Too slow, frequent drops and heating issues.
4. Android Auto: Another wire-less thing which bothers me is the Android Auto which disconnects at least once during the day.
5. Jerks: There are jerks while picking up speed in stop and go traffic. Even while coasting, the car is behaving jerky.
6. Start/Stop system: Auto start/stop is best left off when you first ignite the engine. It doesn't behave consistently. The one on my Ciaz was supremely well implemented.
Pros:
1. Handler: Handling is at another level. Can't do justice to the feeling with my vocabulary.
2. That Pull: The pull from a 3-pot 999 cc engine is very good if you are in the right revvs.
3. Steering: Steering is just awesome for city driving. I am yet to hit a long open expressway at triple digit speeds, but I am looking forward to seeing the high speed manners of the steering.
4. Interiors and Features: The interiors are more than decent for a car at this price-point. It has almost all the features which I needed.
5. Fabric seats: Fabric seats are really good and thank God I held my decision to get leatherette covers installed. So far I have not gone any long trip with my family. So time will tell whether these fabric covers are kid-proof.
Neutral bits:
1. Value for money: I feel that the price at which one can buy this car (after discounts) is just the appropriate price. It's just hitting that value for money equation at that point and anything nearer to the actual price of the car is just too much money for this car considering the flaws it has. This equation might change for me during a longer ownership.
2. Fuel efficiency: I am consistently getting 11ish kmpl tank-to-tank in my commute with bumper-to-bumper traffic, open roads at times and pot-hole laiden flooded city roads most of the times.
3. N(V)H: Apart from the vibration which I mentioned above, Noise and harshness is just ok for this segment. Got my tyres swapped to Yokos immediately after seeing the OE Ceats, so road is non-existent on city tarmac (whatever is left after being washed out this monsoon).
I hope my experience improves as I drive more and drive through more diverse terrains.
I am keen to know your feedback on my first detailed post on this forum :)
Wanted to get advice on Wheel Alignment and balancing for Virtus GT Plus DSG:
After the wheel alignment and balancing does the car require the Resetting/calibration of the “Steering Angle Sensor” ?
It would be of help is someone sheds light on this as I had done the alignment from the volkswagen service centre and I feel I am not getting the right feel as was supposed to be before the alignment.
I asked the service person, but he is telling that it is not necessary.
Also in online forums I have seen that Steering angle sensor reset is mandatory for cars equipped with ESC after alignment.
Should I ask the service person to perform this step?
Also is it better to do alignment and balancing from showroom and can it be done outside. The showroom guys are telling that there is separate reading for Virtus alignment

Not in all cases. The wheel alignment for Virtus or sibilings is only done by adjusting toe angle. For adjusting toe angle, the requisite is to lock the steering wheel in dead center position by an accurate measurement tool. Only then the toe of each wheel is adjusted to reach the correct reading.
SAS reset is done in cases where the steering wheel may have been removed, or readjusted or the sensor itself replaced. It is fixed to the steering and its value wont change on its own like wheel alignment, which is due to the suspension wear/shift.
During alignment, what actually needs to be done is to reset the straight line running support function of the EPS. This is done by rotating the wheel completely to the left till lock and then right till lock and repeat this activity. After this, the EPS will relearn the straight line running characteristics and will no longer pull the car to one side. WIthout doing this, any adjustment of toe angle will just reverse the direction of pull into the other side.

Thanks for giving the advice. Its in online forums that I saw that they mentioned this step need to be performed.
If I am not satisfied with the alignment can I ask them to perform the calibration of the Steering angle sensor?
Is it better to do the alignment in showroom ar outside shops?
