Not SVP but Extended Warranty. Everytime I go to the SC I have to tell them that I do have extended warranty. The Job card they create says NO. Then I provide them the receipt (I have it saved in my Google Drive) and then they say that they will update it in their system. You can also check the SVP and Extended Warranty status on My Volkswagen app under "Explore Service Products.

Indeed, that's why it isn't selling much as compared to Creta Seltos. Please let me know if you get good discounts on Virtus GT Line AT, or highline Plus AT, I'll also post any competitive quotes I get here on the forum. The discounts thread has good quotes posted from Kerala for Taigun and Kushaq.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi,

Quick question to the forum - I got rear ended yesterday and fortunately, it’s only the rear bumper that’ll need replacement. When I took it to VW Noida, the estimate they handed me was of Rs 15000/- (I decided not to claim insurance). Now, online I see that the rear bumper costs between 3800 - 4000/- (Boodmo). Accounting for painting and labour, I can understand the cost going up to 7000/-
Has anybody had any experience in bumper replacement and can help me with what should the right price I should pay at VW?

Thanks

Few months back I checked for the rate from my Bangalore Service center and that told the painting of entire bumper will cost around 7500/-.

Any reason for that ? I am in the same boat. Dent at the rear bumper and its bothering me. Since I own a Lava Blue, I think the paint quality wont be as good as the factory painted one. Is that true ?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I have been an avid follower of team-BHP and team-BHP is my go-to-place for anything related to automative.
Reaching out to this forum now because I need help in making the right decision. I am planning to buy either the 1.0L Virtus GT Line AT or 1.0L Topline AT. In Bengaluru, A dealer is offering 18lac on road for the GT Line. But then, there is another dealer who is ready to sell Topline for 18.15lac, whereas other dealers are not coming below 19.5lac. This topline is from August 2024 batch.
My concerns:
1. Considering we are in December 2024, is it okay to go with an August vehicle? With such a huge gap between mfg date and registration date, will it be treated as a DEMO vehicle in case I were to sell it later?
2. I am worried if this is a display vehicle used in the showroom since August 2024. Is it okay to buy such a vehicle? How can I verify?
3. What all should I really consider and check if I were to buy this topline variant?
4. Final and the most important one, is it really worth it to take this risk and go for a higher variant?

Since I am buying this for my parent's and my use, I do not want to end up with a mediocre car. I am excited about getting the top variant at such a nice price but also want to understand more of the risks associated with it.

Well, I went ahead and got the job done anyway. It cost me 12,500/- after a 2000/- discount. The bumper does cost 4200 (after taxes, unpainted. The paint job itself costs 8250/-! When I asked why so much, the answer was “VW use water based paint and that’s expensive” and to bear out the fact, I was shown the actual rate list which matched.
Now the main thing - the finish on my Cherry Red GT, is impeccable. I’ve had a few touchup jobs earlier with other brands - all done at their authorized service centers, no one came even close to the level of finish as VW. The shade, the shine and the depth of paint - top notch and you couldn’t tell it apart from the OEM even if you looked closely. Gives me no reason whatsoever to complain about the cost once I’ve seen it.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

@adimax24 what did you finally go with ?

I am more or less in the same dilemma, I am being discouraged to buy the Matte edition (Carbon Steel Grey Matte) GT PLUS 1.5 DSG.

I am being suggested to get the Lava Blue or Silver or White (primary reason they dont have matte in stock secondly about hard maintenance this car would have once you start to own.

Matte paint is harder to maintain in the long run due to following reasons.
  • Scratches on paint, swirl marks due to bad cleaning cloth will be visible easily.
  • Paint touch up job to remove smaller scratches is not easy as the matte finish.
  • If you have to repaint any panel, it has to be done at ASS only and cannot be done at FNG as the matte color combination is hard to replicate.

I have seen only 1 Slavia and 1 Virtus in matte shade in past 1 year closely. Both the cars had some scratch marks on front bumper (kind of bruises the cars get in city traffic from people cutting left and right or wall scratch marks) and swirl marks visible.

I have seen couple of Seltos X-Line in matte shade in the same time faram. Seltos X-Line did not have any visible swirl marks and did not have any PPF applied on it.
It is possible the VW cars were not well cleaned with good cloth as compared to Seltos.

The matte color is definitely a standout color. I don't like the use of red accents in Virtus in matte shade.
Silver GT Plus with black roof and black alloys will stand out more as compared to Matte grey GT Plus.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hey folks,
Long time reader, but first time poster

--- Background

I've been admiring and thinking about Virtus for a long while now.
Finally took the plunge of getting it this year, since it was a little out of budget, decided to chime in on the December offers. I wanted to sell my car and get something by year end / next year start. This is my first time buying from the dealer since last time was a second hand.

I wanted the Lava Blue GT MT specifically.
Visited two VW dealers in Bengaluru (where I work), both said Lava Blue was not in stock and would need to wait till Feb to get the car. I tried my luck with VW Chennai (where I'm from) and luckily there was stock for the same. Sales person mentioned that he could arrange a temporary registration and arrange a permanent one in BLR (they had a branch there too). It was fine, so went ahead with paying the booking amount.

I came to Chennai after a weeks time and over the last 5 days I had visited them a couple of times. Once to talk about my current car exchange and once to talk about final prices. As expected, there was not much discounts on GT Plus Sports variant. After negotiating they gave a good price for my car, final insurance quoted was ~45k, discounts totalled to 56k (Dealers + Ex.Bonus) and they took care of Temp charges as well (8k). I thought this was a fair deal and went ahead with finance process.

The sales person was very friendly throughout, would be available to answer my doubts anytime. They wanted to start and finish the payment process as soon as possible, so were hurrying. I understood this since I thought they wanted to finish the invoice in December and it's been more than 10 days since I booked.

--- The question

I was going through TBHP articles about PDI which mentioned the need to do one before I pay anything. That's when I realised I didn't receive the VIN from them yet. Immediately asked for it, the sales person said he didn't have access to it and routed to his manager who mentioned that they don't share VIN before invoicing (PDI before registration), which felt weird and I said I wouldn't pay at all before seeing the car once. They finally agreed for me seeing the car the next day, not PDI but just seeing the car. They bought the car to a showroom (gave a reason for no yard visits).

I did a thorough inspection using the PDI checklist, car ticked all the boxes. But when I decoded the VIN, it was manufactured on September, I got worried since I was under assumption that it was in November. I told this on spot to the sales person and he said they had just recently got this from the factory earlier this month. He went on to assure 3 months is fine, that it won't cause any problems at all and that we can verify during the PDI also. I asked for another VIN and he said Lava Blue MT is not there at all.

I'm confused now. I asked around most say 3 months is fine, also given that GT Plus Sports started selling in October only. But any chance that there would be something fishy? Am I worried too much? Or should I consider asking for SVP/Extended Warranty?

Thanks in advance

--- TLDR

Looking to buy Virtus 1.5 GT Plus Sport MT. Dealer in Chennai revealed Sept 2024 (3mos old) mftd car in the last moment. Is that something to worry or should I go ahead?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I have so far bought five cars of various brands (not VW though) ,but one thing I always found was that the decoded VIN always gives a manufacturing month which is one month prior to the actual dispatch from the factory. For eg. if you ordered the car in November and it was dispatched in November, the VIN would still show as October. I don't know why though. But I have come to accept this as normal. I have never bought any car which was already in the dealers stock yard. So never had this difference of dates of more than one month.

It's a VW not a Maruti, get the extended warranty regardless

The car being manufactured in September should be fine if everything else looks okay. The car was probably sitting in the yard for a couple of months but if it has no bodywork damage and the odo reading is acceptable, then go for it!

You can ask dealer gate pass in and out of yard as well dealer PDI record. If you suspect, it is used as display car, it will show the date of movement. If you suspect it is invoiced and cancelled, ask about warranty start date in the system.

For the same car, they may have to give more discount in January as it becomes previous year car, if it is slow selling. So they may be push to close the invoicing by today.
