To summarise, I have been quite happy and hope to drive the car for many more years to come. Virtus has been fabulous so far and has been a worthy upgrade from my Honda City.
Congrats on the new Virtus! Looks stunning! Wishing you a minimum of 100,000 KMs and atleast 10 years with the car!

It certainly is a looker in those dark shades!

Cheers!

Hello
I own a 1.0 virtus topline in manual that was purchased last month alongside a 5th generation Honda City.
I took a thorough test drive of the virtus and the Hyundai Verna. We had initially planned on booking the Highline because it came with everything we needed alongside the same infotainment as the topline. But after reading GTO's thread on always buying the highest specced variant in the car of your choice, we immediately took the additional 4 more airbags seriously and went ahead with the topline.

The pros:
-It handles very well and doesn't feel underpowered at all
- Fairly quick acceleration despite being a 1.0
- Great NVH levels compared to our Honda City which gets noisy on rough roads and triple digit speeds on the highway
- Ample amount of room in the back
- A very great sound system that comes standard from the comfort line variant, much better than the Honda City which came with 4 speakers
- The virtual cockpit is something that we really like a lot

The cons:
-The HVAC controls are a nightmare while driving and the Air conditioner doesn't perform to well (a friend owns a 1.5 DSG and that doesn't seem to be a problem in her car) the a.c doesn't cool the cabin like the a.c in the city, I think it is a problem only in the 1.0
- gear shifts are a little jerky especially from 1st-2nd but definitely gets better after 3rd-4th
- the auto start stop is extremely sudden and jerky
- rear seats aren't as comfortable as the city due to the hard suspension set up.

Do get the additional warranties if you're planning on getting the 1.5 GT, you will need it. I would strongly suggest you to take a TD of the Hyundai Verna in the non turbo variant mated to an automatic. It shall give you ample amount of power. Kudos to Hyundai for making 6 air bags standard

You are right, I confused the usb ports with the 12v cig socket by mistake ! The 12v socket stays always on, front usb ports turn off upon locking, rear usb ports turn off with ignition.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Completed 15,000kms on my Virtus GT+ DSG and has been a great 4 months with the car. Just did the 15k kms periodic service and costed me 6k(includes the costly carbon cabin filter) and everything looks well so far. Very happy with the Volkswagen Calicut team on how they deal with the things. In and out of the service in a little more than 2 hours and the service team in general looks really well put together. All wheel related stuffs are brilliantly handled so far by Madhus Tyre Center, Bangalore as has always been with all my cars. Some pics from the 4 months of Joy.

Wishing you many more happy miles with it! Your car is one of my favorite Virtus-es out there! It's certainly a looker, a stunner!

Hope to see at you at a meet, if organized by the members in Bangalore!

Cheers!

Did you purchase the SVP earlier. I think 6k is just the extra amount you paid even after the SVP pack. Could you elaborate what things are included in the SVP in 15k service.

I have not opted for SVP package, so unable to comment on the same. The amount is for service cost without SVP.

With regards to the HVAC not being effective, particularly on the 1.0, on the contrary, I have never felt the lack of it. I have a 2022 1.0 Highline manual version, and I literally keep it at the first level. The key thing to note is I opted for the manual rotary knobs at the time of purchase. I'm not sure if anyone with the same specced car faces the issue.

Just a quick tip: When I drive alone, I shut all the other vents off, including the rear. The two main ones are pointed towards my face, and the right-hand side one is pointed towards the seat.

On the topic of the auto start-stop, I wish I could change this for another feature, such as a woofer. Auto start-stop is the most useless feature for a car used in the city. The moment I step into the car, I switch it off.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

With so many Virtus getting added to the forum and negligible issues reported recently Virtus is now turning out to be a great trouble free sedan. Kudos to VW for resolving all initial issues. Even at Service centre VW engineers report that Virtus is relatively error free and cost of maintenance is economical.

Those monte carlo alloys look so smashing in your Virtus. I want to know the differences it has made in the driving characteristics of the car in terms of handling, ride quality, suspension thud etc.

Just the alloy change has transformed the look of the car

I did inquire about the SVP from my service centre here at Hyderabad. Turns out, it is valid only at that particular service centre and he advised me (in hushed tones) to avoid it unless I get a 50% offer or something.

It's not true. I bought SVP when I purchased my car and have serviced it at another dealership. The dealership raises some invoice to the dealership where I purchased the SVP from. You can get your car serviced anywhere irrespective of SVP.

Got it figured out. The sound was due to the exhaust pipe, that came out of its holder (bushes). The workshop manager mentioned it is a common issue that he has attended multiple times.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Got amazing mileage in city traffic today in my Virtus GT.

Volkswagen Virtus Review-20240109_172931.jpg

The car puts a smile on my face everytime I rev it. I've extensively tweaked my car with the official VCDS cable from ross-tech. It has helped me unlock some cool features and remove annoying
warning sounds.

I've religiously maintained my car by following a few simple steps:
1) Topping up with OEM 0W-20 oil every 2500 kilometres.
2) Vaccuming the air filter and filter chamber every 2500 kilometres.
3) Alignment and balancing every 5000 kilometres.
4) Using only XP95 fuel since purchase.
5) Filling up 33 PSI of nitrogen every 2 weeks.

The car has rewarded me with brilliant fuel efficiency and performance. My car does 0-100 kmph in 7.96 seconds. Tested with VCDS acceleration measurement feature and confirmed with stop watch measurements. Margin of error as per VCDS software is +-0.12 seconds. It gives 12kmpl average fuel efficiency in slow moving city traffic. Overall mighty impressed with car. Usage has decreased in the last few months owing to the entry of XUV700 to our garage. My wife has taken a liking to the XUV but my heart will always be a true_sedan fan.
