Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Would anyone happen to know the typical waiting period for a Virtus GT Plus 1.5 MT (Black)? Booked my vehicle in August, still no sign of it. The local dealer doesn't seem to have a clue about the expected date (he tells me that they've only been getting stocks of the DSG variants). When I email Volkswagen Customer Care asking for clarity, they reroute the email back to the dealer, and this merry-go-round inevitably does my head in. When I first booked the vehicle, I didn't think the Virtus would have such a long waiting period.

Hi. I am just sharing my side of the story happened during the booking. Sorry if it’s too lengthy.

We recently got our Virtus GT manual white after all the test drives from different brands.

All the sales guys from different car brands used the selling point which is that the road tax here in TN are about to increase effective from Nov 1, 2023. Which comes around 45 to 50k and also my wife wanted rising blue. They said the next lot will come 1 month later and also with electric seats which costs additional 50k. I told my wife that white is better when it comes to maintenance. Hence we decided white. But one of my friends booked a rising blue 2 months back and still waiting.

Here is the important part, sales guy told me on delivery day that rising blue has been stopped due to release of lava blue. Especially GT & GT special editions are ordered only after the booking. So it usually takes time minimum of 1 month. If the dealership is dragging and not responding with accurate information, either you ask the color which is ready for delivery in GT version. Else if you need black only, then check with other possible dealerships. Additionally write an email to Volkswagen customer care. They reply promptly.

Hope the above response helps.

Cheers
Shiva

Thanks Shiva, for shedding some insight into your booking journey.

The family is adamant about pursuing the black variant, so I've just got to roll with it.

I don't dispute that Volkswagen Customer Care isn't prompt with their response (have written to them on 4 separate instances), but all they do is forward my email to the local dealership, who I'm anyway in contact with, and don't seem to have a clue about the expected delivery date.

Don't know how it is for other car brands in India, but I wish Volkswagen had a better system in place to keep customers in the loop during the pre-delivery phase.

I checked with Sundaram motors for Black color. They dont have stock and sales guys dont have any clue when the stock will be available again.

Hope you guys get a firm response from VW and get your car delivered at the earliest.

Cheers

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi All,

I have been wanting to buy the 1.5 DSG Virtus for quite some time now, but don't want to spend too much beyond 20 lacs. Also, I don't care about features like Sunroof, Auto Headlights/Wipers etc.

Now, VW has brought the 1.5 DGS in the mid level GT trim as well so I guess the wait was worth it, but the only thing still missing for me is the 6 airbags which is still only available in GT+ trim. The Indian Govt. backtracked on it's decision to implement the 6 airbag rule but I see manufacturers like Hyundai have started giving 6 airbags for all variant.

Do you think it's a good idea to wait for some more time to see if VW decides to do the same or take the plunge this year and benefit from the year end/festive season discounts? I can wait for another 3-4 months to get he car but that time has to also factor in the waiting time between booking and delivery.

It's unlikely that VW would change anything more in their products until 2023 is over. They have already released upgraded features for the festive season. If you can wait, I think it will be a good idea to target FY end (March 2024) sales.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Does anyone have any information on whether the OEM amp and the subwoofer can be retrofitted in Virtus GT+?

Hi Wohroy, I inquired my dealer in Chennai regarding the same. It can be done. He quoted 8 to 9k around for Sub and for amp he quoted some crazy amount. I am not sure if thats the right quote.

IF you get the quote, please do share and also the brand they offer.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

A lot is or was talked about the interior quality of the VW Virtus just like its cousins from the VAG stable. I’d just like to appreciate the ergonomical beauty that it is.

I mean the way the screen is integrated absolutely seamlessly with the dash is amazing. It’s so difficult to find more cars such as this. The norm seems to be raised touchscreens and some absolutely poor ones like in Elevate, Grand Vitara or slightly better but no good like Verna with visible bezels and raised on dash. This fitment alone gives me a premium feeling that hardly others in the same price bracket can. Thanks VW!

(Even their new large 14 inch screens are so raised above the dash)

Over the call, He quoted around 1 lakh for the amp alone I asked him for the brand name. He said he will check and get back. I asked him to send the spec and price of the amp over whatsapp. He is yet to respond to that.

Hi, It seems there is a black color available. Let me share the sales person contact. Mr Aslam +91 89258 61999. Please discuss. I have informed him you will get in touch with him.

Nice touch Shiva, that’s rather thoughtful of you. Although, given that I’m based in Kerala, I think it would be quite inconvenient for me to purchase the vehicle from Tamil Nadu. Thanks regardless!

Separately, last evening, I did get some updates from my local SA. Apparently, there’s been a two-week shutdown at the VW plant, and that, coupled with the new features they introduced last month, has driven up the backlog, prompting delays with the deliveries. He sounded reasonably confident that my vehicle would reach the showroom by the end of this month, or early December. Fingers crossed.

I take it the transition from your Jetta to the Virtus has been a breeze. Happy miles!

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

One of the first cars in our garage was a station wagon. I'm not sure which model it was, but I'm guessing it was the V240 Classic. I have a lot of memories with that car, so I have a soft spot for station wagons/estates. Recently, I decided to try a render to see what the Volkswagen Virtus would look like in that body style.
Here’s the outcome.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I have a Virtus 1.5 MT GT Plus Booked with new features. (Electronic Seats, Amplifier-subwoofer)

Today the Sales Manager told that, extra cost of fitting these will be 1.34L

When enquired further about quality, and worth, he said he was not making a sales pitch, but that is what company officials have told them privately.

He also said that getting hold of new GT Plus with new features is difficult as Volkswagen is trying to sell previous ones first (w.o. feature additions)

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

When new features were announced, and the price was only Rs 32 Thousand more than the old version, it was too good to believe, and this turned out to be it.

I am curious about the power seat functions. Is it four or six-way? I think asking for memory function is too much of an expectation.
