Folks, Where can we get the service schedule and changes/inspections to be done for Virtus?
The User manual does not have it. Is there a soft copy available or should I ask the dealer?
My previous cars used to have it in the service section with all service items to be carried out. It crossed 2 years and I need to know manufacturer recommendation rather than going on with service center's will. I have the 4 yr SVP so more important to know that they carry out the specified services properly.

You can check it out in detail here.
You can enter Periodic maintenance (1yr / 15K kms, 2yr/ 30K kms and so on) and the items will show up as below:

VW recommends 0W20 oil for Virtus, but isn't that an issue with 40C+ summers in many Indian cities ? For comparison, my Superb 1.8TSI uses 5W40 recommended from Skoda.

Even assuming newer engines, need thinner lubrication at cold start etc, I think VW should have recommended 0W40 ?
Any Virtus/Slavia/Taigun/Kushaq owners had any discussion with A.S.S. on this ?

Wouldn't overrule the manufacturer on this. No A.S.S. anywhere in the world would recommend a different grade of oil other than the one recommended by the manufacturer. And honestly, I don't get this statement - "hot weathers requires high viscosity oil". The engine is operating at 100° celsius which is way hotter than any ambient temperature on planet earth. So, I don't see any point in using a high viscosity oil that would improve engine life and performance.

Hey, lancer_rit,

Since I am a newbie in Team-BHP, I am unable to reply to your query in the Private Message. Hence, I am posting my reply here.

I did get the boot opening (and swinging ) issue fixed during the Swagat service. I shared a couple of YouTube videos with the Service Team and they got it fixed.

I am sharing a couple of links below. There was another video of an owner getting the springs tightened (unable to trace that video now) - most probably, that worked in the case of my car

Hope your car also gets repaired similarly.

Completed 15,000kms on my Virtus GT+ DSG and has been a great 4 months with the car. Just did the 15k kms periodic service and costed me 6k(includes the costly carbon cabin filter) and everything looks well so far. Very happy with the Volkswagen Calicut team on how they deal with the things. In and out of the service in a little more than 2 hours and the service team in general looks really well put together. All wheel related stuffs are brilliantly handled so far by Madhus Tyre Center, Bangalore as has always been with all my cars. Some pics from the 4 months of Joy.

The Monte Carlo alloys on your Virtus…do you mind telling the size of those ?

They look absolutely smashing and I recently bought a white Virtus 1.0 MT GT Line variant and was wondering about changing the alloys and came across your car’s pictures.

Thanks in advance.

Hello! Yes, the issue has been fixed now.

They had to connect the car to an online diagnostic service, where the technical team from Pune analyzed the entire system code for issues. The process took a total of four days.

In the end, they reflashed the infotainment and steering system codes, which resolved the issue. However, they couldn't pinpoint the exact root cause, so they decided to reflash the entire system as a precaution.

Did this issue only happen once ? After the reflash, I hope it didn't recur?
Thanks

Hello, I didn't try any new adaptations post that instance. Have been held up with a lot of work. So no, it didn't happen again.

I'm still trying to figure out the root cause here. Not sure if this is because of sfd locking or if I uploaded some wrong adaptations or if this is a one off thing. I might try some adaptations this coming week, will keep you posted. :)

I am told VW has discontinued the 1.5 GT, and now only the GT Plus is available with the higher sticker price. The GT Plus pushes the OTR well past 23.5 lac :disappointed

I see. Did you change any lights or horn connection etc before the adaptations and/or scan ? I saw there were posts that even saving the channel maps caused the issue (w/o any changes done to the settings). Normally, backing up current channel maps etc shouldn't cause any DTC?

That is usually the best course of action.

1. Engine oil needs to flow enough (and light enough for modern engines with very fine clearances) to prevent damage esp for cold starts (and in cold weather) - thats the 0W part.
2. Engine oil thins at higher temperatures, so it should not thin out too much when it wouldn't provide sufficient protection for that engine. If I crank at ambient temperature of 45C (or in many cases much higher than that if the car is in the sun), the oil shouldn't be too thin before the engine parts are well lubricated (but maybe its a non-issue for 1.5TSI). Thats the W20 or W40 part. Once operating at 100C, I am sure the 0W20 is sufficient, otherwise, as you point out, even in cold climate, the engine will suffer damage.

My older 1.8TSI is recommended for 5W40, but maybe the newer TSI engines of today only need 0W20. I was curious that 0W40 is not prescribed (seems it would reduce FE a bit due to being thicker at operating temperatures than 0W20).

Many thanks, got it fixed. I asked for new springs to be replaced under warranty (dealer promised to order and replace at 1 month checkup, let's see).

However QC from VW factory is pretty poor, as the new springs are already flexing too much (50% out of 7-8 new cars I tested), and hence, they don't do QC of both the part, and the installed product at factory. The boot lid can easily fall on someones head, chest and cause hurt if one is not aware of this!

Great that you could get the springs replaced. These kind of quality issues from a major German brand like VW are disappointing. Fit and finish of the new VW/ Skoda cars is no match to the earlier cars.

I, myself, had a close shave from getting hurt by the swinging boot lid. Take care.

Has anyone faced the Red hazard light (Red exclamation symbol) at startup?
It appears below the oil temperature gauge.

Once when I was starting my car after 4 days, This red hazard symbol appeared, and the car wouldn't start.

Only the Brake was pressed while starting the car.
Instead it went into ignition On. (ACC mode)

After 2 minutes of waiting when I pushed the start button for the 5th time, it started normally and the red hazard light disappeared just like other lights do, when the system check is being performed and returned as normal.

I know it's just checking the system functionality, but why would it take so long, when it normally starts at the first crank within 20-30 seconds after sitting in the car?

This image below is when it starts normally, and then all these lights disappear at startup.

I disconnect my dashcam every time I leave the car, since it's connected to the 12V port, and since my car is just 4 months old, I don't assume it could be a battery issue.

There was conjecture of VW bringing in a Kylaq counterpart for the competitive 4m SUV segment. This has been put to rest by Volkswagen India Brand Director Ashish Gupta. During the launch of Tiguan R-Line this week, he outright rejected this option.

So bad luck for those of us who hoped for a Polo alternative.

I made the right decision to get the Virtus 1.0 ltr GT-Line over the Top Line any why you should too!

Hi to all TBHP members. This is my first post, so please forgive any mistakes.
We were in search for a good car that would be a daily driver for me and occasionally for my family members. We had a 2018 VW Polo MPI Comfortline
which was moderately used. So I was used to the driving dynamics of the german cars and man do I love the Polo. I do regret not getting the TSI at that time, but I couldn't refuse the offer the showroom was giving me at that time. The car is in a pretty good condition other than a few scratches and stone chippings but internally it still runs smooth. I was eagerly waiting for the Virtus to launch so I could upgrade from the MPI to the TSI.

After the Kushaq and Taigun were launched I decided to check them out. They looked pretty good considering a lot of localisation. But due to unknown reason I did not feel like the Polo. I sat upright, had a better view of the bonnet, the power was good for a 1.0ltr, but it didn't really click. I felt a sedan would be better. It would be much closer to the hatchback. My family & I were sure that even the next family would be from the VW Group. So unimpressed with the Taigun and Kushaq the car hunt took a back seat for a while. In 2022 VW launched the Virtus briefly after the Slavia and I was awestruck. The design of the Virtus felt much sportier and meaner compared to the Slavia. I do not mean to say the Slavia is badly designed. The classic Checz look, elegant and timeless design with the 2-spoke wheel would make a perfect executive car especially in black. But the Virtus won me over in the looks department especially in the Cherry red :loveit.

I test rode the TopLine and the 1.5 GT. I do not want to repeat the things other BHP members have said about the engines so I'm going to skip it. This post is why I chose the 1.0 ltr GT-Line over the TopLine.

In October 2023 Virtus launched, for the 2nd time, the Skoda Sportline version of the Virtus and Taigun and called them GT-Line. These were cosmetic upgrades and some functional upgraded over the current 1.0ltr. These variants were placed below the TopLine variants.

The cosmetic changes include:The functional changes include:
Around this time I visited both Skoda and VW showrooms to check the new Sportline trims. This is when I saw the Lava Blue color for the 1st time and I immediately knew this was the color I had to get my car in. There was no display for the Virtus GT-Line so I decided to look at the neighboring Skoda showroom that had the Sportline variant of the Slavia and man! This was a beautiful and menacing car. Why didn't they launch these cars like this to begin with? The car was simply 2 times better in this design. The looks of the GT at the price of a 1.0 ltr! Some may think it was just cosmetics, but there are valuable functional updates as mentioned above. Now the GT-Line is just over 1.5 lacs cheaper than the TopLine. And for that price the TopLine offers very less value when the functional options over the GT-Line are taken into consideration.

The TopLine additionally has the below features.
Being a Bengaluru resident heat wasn't a concern and so ventilated seats weren't necessary. My Polo had fabric seats for a long time and I felt it kept ventilation well between me and the seat and so leatherette seats weren't necessary. Electronically adjustable seats are half as useful if there isn't memory function. So basically the TopLine was checked off and I booked the Virtus Gt-Line in Lava Blue on Nov 30 2024. I was given 60 days of waiting time. But my car arrived on Jan 9th. I did the PDI using the TBHP PDI checklist (Thank you!) and confirmed the delivery date to my SE for Jan 11th. The delivery was smooth. I have covered just over 1500 kms since then. And I am absolutely loving the car. It has been a sensible upgrade over the Polo.

I can clearly see why the Virtus has been the only C class sedan that has posted positive growth in this financial year. I hope VW and Skoda continue to stay in India for a long time and continue to make car for driving enthusiasts.
Attaching a pic of my car in the beautiful Lava Blue color.

Virtus indeed looks gorgeous! My biggest gripe with the car is the AC in 1.0 engines. How are you finding the AC performance in April Bangalore heat?
