Congratulations on your high quality lift kit. It’s great to see your commitment to perfectly optimising the Jimny.

Need your advice - We are running the stock suspension and are not happy with the rear bouncing over expansion joints at 90-110 kmph. On a recent highway run I had a passenger in the back and felt obligated to slow down to 75-80 every time I spotted an expansion joint - the kind where there is about 10-20 feet of tar connecting long stretches of concrete. As a result of all this slowing down we could not keep up with the monocoque vehicles! Normally this does not happen on my highway runs with the Jimny but then the back seat is usually always empty and the front seat passenger is not so affected. Slowing down to 90-95 is sufficient and we pick up the pace again. This rare experience of getting left behind by traffic really left a bad taste in the mouth..

At the same time I love the plush feel of the stock suspension when tackling potholes at low speeds. On this same journey we also went through some completely broken and muddy village roads and the stock suspension kept everyone amazingly comfortable. So what are your thoughts on the trade off between highway stability and low speed plush-ness? And since I don’t do recreational off road, should I consider just changing the shocks? Maybe some adjustable ones? Thanks!

So, you got the 1.5L MSSF offer (in addition to the cash discount of ~80k) even with lease? What was the total discount that you got?

Yes, we are blessed to have these landscapes, but at the same time the winters are pretty harsh here.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Test drove the Jimny today and must say, I'm an incredible fan of that car. I drive an Altis currently and am in a dilemma whether to change my ride or not. My major complaint with the Altis is the ground clearance. So, this time around, I wanted to check a wide variety of cars to see what fits me the best.

The Jimny looked so compact, perfect in proportions and a beauty to the eyes. The body felt solid and it was more of a slightly elevated 'walk-in' than a climb in. The front seats are very supportive and I couldn't help but notice the narrowness of the car, such that my hands can't go between the seat and the door. Test drove the AT, and though old school accompanied with a whine, it felt very much able. The car never felt slow in my driving over 15 kms on the highway. Took it on an extremely bad stretch of (no)road and that's when I truly realised the beauty of this car. Also sat on the rear seat for a kilometer or so with the SA on the wheels. The seat lacks underthigh support and I did sit in a bit of a knees up position but ride felt decent and I never felt claustrophobic. I love the recirculating-ball steering and did not feel odd about the extra turn required. I find this car to have a soul (going all poetic now).

Post this, I test drove the Fronx and that's when the solidness and ruggedness of the Jimny was truly felt. Plus, in comparison to the Thar 3 door, I find the ride quality way better, more control at highway speeds and the chuckability to be an extra plus. I'm going to spend the next few days pondering how would the Jimny be if it's a single car garage while also test-driving a few more cars.

And, dear T-Bhp Jimny owners, all your Reviews of the Jimny are tempting me to own one!! Thanks for sharing such detailed reviews of this little wonder.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hello everyone
Just booked a Jimny Alpha MT 2024 model. A long pending decision was finally made as I am getting good discount. My other ride is a polo GT Tsi 2017 so I feel Jimny be the perfect addition. I am replacing my old alto k10 2013 model. I love mountains and have made several trips in my Polo. Went to spiti twice and even completed the circuit but I was very anxious during those trips. I am pretty sure with Jimny coming in I will enjoy such trips even more. Thanks everyone for the lovely reviews. It has encouraged me even more to go ahead with the decision to book Jimny.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Took delivery of my Jimny Alpha AT last week, and honestly, the experience was underwhelming compared to my previous car deliveries from other brands.

Initial Impressions (After a couple of hundred kilometers):

Positives:
  • Eye-catching Design: The Jimny looks great—well-proportioned and refreshing amidst the sea of ordinary-looking cars. Even 18 months after its launch, it still turns heads. People often stop to ask about the cost and features.
  • Comfortable Ride Quality: The ride is very absorbent. Small bumps and undulations are barely noticeable in the cabin, and even on rough roads, it handles itself with maturity, avoiding the harshness that throws you around.
  • Great Visibility: With the bonnet edges clearly visible and an adequate seating position, the Jimny offers a commanding view of the road.
  • Practical Black Bumpers: The black bumpers are a blessing—they handle minor scratches from bikes or tight traffic without stress.
  • The engine and gearbox are tuned for low-end torque, making city driving smooth. The pickup is excellent up to 60 km/h, though it starts tapering off beyond that.

Negatives:
  • Lacks Road Presence: Unlike the Thar, which clears the road with its imposing stance, the Jimny feels more like a small car to other drivers.
  • Everyday Practicality:
    - Space is limited, both in the cabin and for storage.
    - Fuel efficiency is average at best.
    - Interiors feel plain and uninspiring.
    - Steering is heavy, and the large turning radius adds to the difficulty, especially in tight spaces.
For me, it’s a secondary car, but for anyone considering it as their primary vehicle, I’d strongly recommend multiple test drives to assess its practicality.
  • Engine Noise: The engine feels noisy when pushed even slightly. At higher speeds, it constantly feels like it’s begging for more gears.
  • Safety Concerns: Safety is a significant concern for me, especially with the longitudinal engine placement, leaving minimal space for crash absorption. I sincerely hope I never have to test this aspect.
I’m planning to paint the stock grille matte black and maybe change the tyres to A/T, but don’t have major modifications in mind for now. I understand the Jimny’s unique purpose and look forward to making the most of its off-road capabilities whenever the opportunity arises.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hello everyone

Just a query
Has anyone experienced rusting on the mounts of roof racks? And also how to prevent it from spreading?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Completed the long desired winter Spiti with the Jim during 10-17 Jan. Been a significant learning in terms of throttle control in slush and snow. Right amount of inputs, there was no slide, no drama around corners or downhill.

This car does not break a sweat. Though the Thar diesel in the group was a completely opposite nightmarish experience.

It was only beyond Chicham village or half way to Tashigong where there were no tracks and bumper level snow that we had to turn back. With a little patience this small little machinery can do wonders.
