Re: Maruti Jimny Review

A few pictures from a short weekend drive to Karjat Riverside. Did not venture in the water, just drove on the rocks.

Jimny Fender Bender

Moderstors: Please feel free to move this to appropriate forum.

Yesterday, my Jimny was involved in a little fender bender incident. I took a right turn into the main road, which is a 4 lane road. There was a car that was stopped in the right most lane, so I took the left-most lane and as I passed the car, the passenger of the car standing still opened the car door. The edge of the car door got stuck in between spoilers of the rear right wheel well. It not only took off the spoiler but also bent (and slightly cracked) the rear bumper.

No, I did not argue or fight over as these things are not worth fighting over and especially if one has insurance. Post incident examination reveals that I can replace the spoiler as it is screwed to the chassis with nut bolts.

I would like to know if the bumper can be "plastic welded" ? I am sure if I take this to Maruti service station, they would recommend full replacement of the rear bumper. I don't want to replace the entire rear bumper as it is still good.

So, I would like to know

1. Cost of rear wheel well spoiler.
2. Is welding the crack on the rear bumper recommended ?

Thank you.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Good to hear how patient you were despite unnecessary damage to your Jimny. I have seen plastic welding sort of jugaad with bumper repairs in the past. You should check out some of the denting workshops specialising in bumper repairs and enquire.
However, I feel that it may not get repairs with 100% finesse and if it's is new possession, better get it changed.

What I love most about Jimny is that the external trims are dirt cheap compared to other cars in the market.

Jimny bumper costs 1750 (and no painting charges), the fender will cost around 500.

Go for a replacement. Try FNG for installation. The service centre will try ti rob you with the installation charges.

Jimny parts are very reasonably priced. In your case, provided there's no other internal damage, you can expect to spend approx Rs 3000-3500/= max on replacement parts. This should cover the cost of a new RR wheelarch extension and the rear bumper purchase/s and fitment (including labour).

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Noticed a fair bit of oil mixed with dust on my steering box. Steering is also a bit tighter of late. Anyone with a similar problem? My Jimny has done about 21k now.

Someone has reported a similar problem on BigJimny. No solution mentioned though.

Drive on,

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hey guys, an information needed from all Jimny owners who had done hardwiring setup for powering the dashcam. I have ordered Redtiger f7np model from their official website.

They have provided 2 options of hardwire kit to choose from in the website.
1. Double 4-Fuse
2. OBD Hardwire Kit.

May I know which will go with Jimny? I received a call today from Redtiger team since they aren't sure if Jimny is compatible with OBD hardwire kit.

Appreciate the input

I'm using an OBD hardwire kit on my 2021 Thar. No issues so far. Plug and Play installation.

Imported it from the US and hooked it up to 70mai rearview Dual dashcam.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi BHPians,

With my failed endavors to grab Jimny during discounts in 2023 and 2024, I am thinking of buying a second hand Jimny in cheaper price. I am getting few offers of 2024 purchased Alpha MT Jimnys (2023 manufactured), some 10K run with decent condition. What should be the suggested price to get the deal??
Also, how should I get the inspection. I have done few visual inspection after learning from youtube videos but seems like I havent been very competent in it.

Also, one of it has Comforser cf3000 LT 215/75 r15 tyres. Is it a good option to opt.. While the tyre looks good on car, I am wondering if their size and weight can negatively impact car's city and highway usage.

Small background, this will be my first car. So any advice is welcomed

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hey fellow Bhpians

I am actively planning to book a Jimny, Alpha Model. I have a few queries, which if addressed would greatly help me in making my decision.

City Usage : The vehicle would be mainly used in the city stop go traffic with occasional off roading. Which one would be more practical for this :MT or AT?

AT/MT : I test drove both Jimny AT and MT models. The MT had a very hard gear shift and a very hard steering. As per the SA, this was because the vehicle had its fair share of abuse during offroading and had about 50k on the odo. If feel this is too less a KM on the odo for the steering/gearbox to be this hard. Plus, as per the SA, the vehicle had just got its servicing done. Any MT owners facing the same issues?

Modifications : I plan on some cosmetic as well as performance mods. These are : Rear tail door Ladder, Throttle tuner, bull bar, front grill, lamps, tpms etc. Do these mods lead to the warranty as well as the extended warranty being null and void?

Reliable Dealers : Finally any reliable dealers in NCR region. With reliable, i mean someone who trust. Someone who will not tamper the odo, will not sell a damaged vehicle etc.

I have an MT Zeta. My steering is hard too. I think that is the case with all Jimnys. For city driving, please go for an AT eyes closed. I bought it used so I didn’t have an option.

I have dealt with Prem motors in Gurgaon and they seem to be very good.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hello fellow BHPians,

I just got accepted to this great community a day ago and it feels like an achievement.

That said, I have been following this post/thread for weeks now, reading user experiences from buying the Jimny to truly making it one's own and everything in between. I really want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences which truly helped me make a decision and I have taken the plunge - Jimny Alpha MT booked and I am going for the PDI today (22nd),
availing services from Zekardo (which I also came to know about 2 other posts in this thread). Hopefully, I get to share pictures soon.

It took a while for it to arrive at the NEXA store. I placed the order on 27 December 2024 and got a call today from the showroom that the accessory had arrived.

The entire installation process took about an hour.
The existing Sill guards are removed and the new ones are installed.

In addition, I was informed that another cable is also needed for the connection. So I bought that, too, it cost 420/-.
Was there any splicing of wires involved or anything that would void the warranty, even if getting it done from Maruti itself?

Maybe the steering box oil level has depleted a bit. No harm having it checked. For starters, please have that filler bolt 1 checked for tightness.

Thanks for this. Last weekend the steering motor started failing especially when you start turning very sharply. An "ESP service" error has started showing up on the MID as well. I have booked a inspection this weekend so let me see. Will check on the bolt tightness.

Drive on,

Received a 9.9 from Zekardo, so very happy.

The final quote I got from the dealer (w/ extended warranty but CCP removed) is 14, 81, 678 (which also includes 27k for a registration no. of my choice). I'm still negotiating the insurance though. They've quoted 37k and I'm getting a quote of 29k (GST incl.) from PolicyBazaar w/ additional add-ons. I've obviously shared this quote & asked them to match.

Also planning for immediate tyre upgrade to Yoko Geolandar 215/75R15 straight from the showroom.

Since I'm not getting any "free" accessories, I'm considering getting them from Kashmere Gate (or preferably in South Delhi). Any leads to a dealer/shop which would offer me genuine (or very close to genuine) Maruti accessories for cheap? I am looking for the following:-

1. Side cladding for doors.
2. Window rain visors.
3. Floor and boot mats, where the rear one is one single unit, covering the transmission tunnel as well.
4. Interior LED upgrade for map and boot light, but preferably a warmer shade than the blinding white ones.

I also have a few items added to my Amazon JP list, which will come at a later stage.
