The 3rd row seatbelt sensors (the ones that confirm if someone is sitting or not) aren't working and show up as 2 X's in the MID. Realised this only when someone sat in the 3rd row, but a red dot never showed up (they weren't belted as well). |
I'm also facing this issue, and not sure what could be the cause.
Please let me know how, if this gets fixed.
During 2nd service, my SA was adamant that there is no feature like that.
God bless us with these kinds of SA's serving our beasts.

Any idea if this is available at the Service center?
I'm really interested in this.
I envy that the Baleno cars have better illumination than these Beasts.

It was there in the brochure shared by the dealer but he later clarified that it’s for the pre facelift Safari:Frustrati

Hi guys, I’m going to be taking the delivery soon, was thinking of getting some accessories from the dealer. Is Teflon coating any good? Don’t want to spend too much on ceramic/ PPF. Also, is it better to buy the dashcam and footmats from the dealer or should I explore outside? He has a Blaupunkt dashcam for 11K( yet to negotiate though). This is what I plan to get from him:
1. Mud flaps
2. 3D floor matting
3. scuff plate
4. high power led lamp
5. dashcam
6. Teflon coating
7. antirust coating
Thanks in advance! |
Surely you will get much better dashcams for similar or lower prices outside.
Pls consider side footrest if you have elderly people at home.. it is useful even for middle aged folks who are not very fit
All, can someone guide me to the best and most trustworthy Service Centre in Hyderabad? Visited Tejaswi Automobiles in Madhapur to run an errand after delivery, and it didn't look like a place I'd like step in again, given the chaos all around, and sheer unprofessionalism. How is Venkataramana motors? I need to take my car for its 1st service. Can i give my car for service at a dealer different from the one where the car was bought?

I have never been to Tejaswi service center so I can't compare their state with others. I got my first 2 servicing done from Venkataramana service center in Kondapur. They are not too good either and had usual TASS attitude of take it or leave it.
I get my Hexa serviced from Pratham Malik Auto Matrix Tolichowki service center for past 2 years. Varaprasad looks after Hexa servicing there, my past interactions have been good with him and people from THOR (Tata Hexa OwneRs) group recommend him.
I am not sure if he is allowed to handle Safari servicing, but you can call their front desk Nine Eight Four Nine Two Six Six Seven Seven Zero. Pratham Malik is getting overcrowded with the large volume of Tata sales, so you should ask them to use protective covers for the seats (as top end Safari seats are white) and take care of the car. Just make sure you take photo of your car from all the angles, exterior as well as interiors and use those as a reference post service to make sure the interior and exterior are clean.

Got my Safari finally today after all the checks. Its a beast on the road, but I found a niggle already - all of a sudden the electronics all have gone blank and restarted, as if the power went off. All this whilr the car was running and I’m not sure if abs etc were on. Resolved by restarting. I hope there arent too many such surprises:disappointed |
My SA told me categorically that if the screen goes blank it’s because the system needs to be updated. It was very evident with his tonality that it’s a very common occurrence and people panic when that happens.

Sadly though the service center doesn’t have the latest version to update. I have checked it while taking delivery and it is pretty old- Jan 2024. These are the type of things that should be avoided, especially for a flagship car at this price range. Btw I just did a 1100km trip from Vizag to Bangalore. Drove alone with zero hiccups on the mechanics and comfort is so good! Electronics are a different story - sometimes the steering BT controls wouldnt work all of a sudden, I cant turn the lane change alert for some reason, apple carplay doesnt connect at times. Nothing life altering , but a nuisance.
Anyone knows where in Blore we can get good service and more importantly, the latest software package for Safari?
I am buying the car from Jharkhand but I will be using it in Goa.
From where should I buy my extended warranty? How many days after buying the car do the extended warranty prices go up?

There are plenty more tales of woe, all courtesy of some questionable QC. But let's leave it at that for now. |
Continuing the string of woes here -
5. The wipers and/or wiper blades seem to be of questionable quality, leaving trails of water droplets and patterns across my windshield. It's almost artistic, albeit impractical.
6. The radio reception is rather poor, with noticeable audio distortion even in the heart of urban areas.
7. All the doors produce a squeaking sound when opened or closed, reminiscent of a vintage horror movie.
8. I receive random notifications such as TPMS failure and Memory Seat failure, which are a constant source of grief and fear.
9. The infotainment system emits random beeps when a mobile device is connected, creating an unintended symphony of alerts. This was notic:thumbs upd only twice.
10. There are incorrect tailgate open alerts when the tailgate is firmly closed, often noticed at the start of a journey.
11. The rear camera, positioned below the Tata logo, lacks an overhang to protect it from rain. Consequently, it is consistently obstructed by water droplets, which is a design oversight.
Given these numerous design, software, and hardware issues, I am understandably apprehensive about using any ADAS features. In fact, I have ceased using Adaptive Cruise Control altogether due to concerns about potential malfunctions and the inability to manually override them on the highway.
In conclusion, I find myself in possession of a vehicle that, despite its substantial price tag, leaves me anxious and sleepless. I can't help but wonder if waiting for the launch of the Hyundai Alcazar would have been a wiser choice—at least with a Hyundai, I was dealing with a known devil. Now, however, I find myself bedding an unknown one.

I got the delivery of my Safari yesterday and after seeing your post, checked the SW version in the morning. Was glad to see 31st July 2024 as the last update date. Hopefully that's the latest there is.

Sounds Stupid. I took delivery on August 9th and the SW shows an update on July 31st, 2024. Not sure what it means. And how you took the delivery later and still ended up with a Jan 24 update remains a mystery. seems like either a PDI SOP doesn't exist, or no one cares to look it up, or no one cares to act on it.
I can talk to the software updates.
Mine was Jan 2024 as well.
I guess it depends on the dealer. Proactive ones will update software before delivering to the customer. Lazy ones will deliver as is and promise it's the latest.

This was solved by reflashing the ECU. On asking for the reason why this happened in the first place, was told it was a bug.
Now has been corrected and is working as expected.
Baclight issues are still existing.
Found paint and rust defects in another 3-4 spots than the ones mentioned above.
Rust on the underbody. You can see the half hearted under chassis coating.
Rust on one of the mount points for the lift.
There is also rust on the bonnet and some paint defects, but I'm too tired to find and post those photos. Will do it later.
Service manager Mr. Guhan at PPS Tata Chromepet, noted these down, connected with Mr. Sudhakar, who is the regional customer service manager for Tamilnadu apparently.
They've promised speedy resolution, all via phone, and not on mail. I hope issues will get sorted and I don't have to keep running around. I've also asked them to cover whatever part/wiring has failed under the extended warranty (which I've already paid for). EW generally doesn't include wiring harnesses or most other electronics.
I have to leave out of station and they wanted to keep the vehicle. I asked for a loaner. They suggested I use the vehicle and that they will take it in on a later date and do the needful, without raising any issues then as to how much the vehicle has run.
The boot trim opened.
The D pillar trim was also pried open in an attempt to find the coupler.
The sad thing here is that for opening trims, it's either the hands or a screwdriver. They don't even have a pry tool.
This is very very depressing, but I guess little can be done now.
As I read somewhere, Tata is not the car for someone with OCD (not actual OCD, but you get it). It is best to stick to the Koreans/Germans/Japs and bleed your wallet rather than lose your sleep and end up having anxiety attacks.

Good to see Safari and Harrier score good in GNCAP.
The Safari almost toppled in side crash test
The sunroof came off in side barrier crash. This means in real life if side barrier like crash happens and the car also topples, there is probability that someone from rear seat can get thrown out of the broken sunroof panel.
Emergency braking resulted in Safari nose diving to stop. This should enlighten people in 2nd and 3rd rows to wear their seat belts otherwise they could hurt by the seats in front of them when the car nose dives and stops hard.
It looks like Pure or Smart Harrier variant was used for testing. This is based on alloys wheels and missing rear wiper in Harrier. So even lower variant of Harrier gets good crash test ratings.
I wish Tata improves their QC and TASS experience which are the 2 major drawbacks making people hesitant to buy ₹25+ lakh Tata car.

Tejaswi gets a no-go for sure. We've given our punch for 20k servicing and it was horrible. They bent the wiper arms, soiled the seats and dash. Scratched the instrument cluster screen and blessed us with a few scratches. It has a few abandoned cars, which is absolutely unacceptable.
