While I was initially excited, I now have serious concerns about potential after-sales service (ASS) issues :thumbsdown and recurring niggles that many of you have mentioned. I was even considering consulting a third party for the PDI to avoid any surprises down the line.

Given what I’ve read, I am seriously thinking about canceling my booking altogether to avoid losing my peace of mind. I really appreciate all the honest feedback and insights shared here—it’s been incredibly helpful in managing expectations. Any additional advice on how to handle these issues would be greatly appreciated!

Are you planning to buy this car from Sagar Motors ?
If possible, please DM me for some details, as I'm also planning to upgrade, and Safari is one of the options.

Yes, it is from Sagar Motors, sector 63, Noida.

Well, we have read a lot of posts about niggles and poor ASS. However, there are a lot of happy owners too. Mine is a #Red Dark XZA+ from last year. There have been minor issues but nothing that the ASS could not sort in a few minutes. 15k kms and no real snag so far. Yes the newer version is more tech oriented, but the basic character of the car remains the same and it has the potential to add a grin on your face every time you are behind the wheel. Happy motoring.

Please check my message.

Hi Safari owners - had a query, my HSRP has been fixed in such a way that it covers half of the ADAS radar. While taking delivery I pointed it out to the SA and he nonchalantly said that’s how they’re fixed and it doesn’t impact the ADAS functions.

Now, I’ve been driving the car for almost 2 weeks but haven’t faced any challenge/error while driving which would indicate radar malfunction. But I remember reading on this thread that the radar can’t be covered by the regn. Plate. I also checked out a lot of other Safaris on the road and YouTube, and realised half of them have the regn plates covering substantial portion of the radar.

So, is it ok for the plates to cover some part of the radar? Or are there any tell tale signs that’ll indicate that radar is not working properly?

Does ADAS work as expected? Has it ever braked without you wanting it to? Or shown collision alerts when it shouldn't have? Or vice versa, not showing collision alerts when it is supposed to?

The radar cannot detect objects at a distance less than 25 cm (or so it says in the manual).

Now I'm pretty sure the plates will fall within that margin, but if it will always be a point of concern or nagging to you, simply ask them to order a new set of plates and replace it. (Hopefully they didn't just bolt it and used rivets properly as intended).

Can you post snapshot of how the number plate is fixed and blocking radar? If possible go for highway drive along with another friends in their car so that you can follow their car in your Safari and test Emergency brake warning alert and ACC working

I would like to think it works well since AEB has kicked in twice and it shows up FCW when I’m close to a vehicle in front with more than crawling speed.

Now that I think abt it, I’ve had the FCB/AEB error pop up momentarily a couple of times at startup but I think it was because the car was parked very close to another vehicle in front.

Attached the pic of the plate for your reference.

Folks, can someone help me with a list of problem faced with safari facelift and resolutions offered ? Is it wise to replace a Seltos IVT with a safari AT and overall ownership experience?

My Sister has a Safari 2023 (bought October 2023) and has roughly done 9000 KM since. The car always comes to a dealership near us for service so i know almost all the quirks .
1.Rear camera showed a ghost shadow (cleared by the dealership)
2.Sunroof Ambient light has stopped working (not fixed)
3.Door ambient light has stopped working along with ambient light in Dash (not fixed)
4.Front camera showed a ghost shadow because of which car wont move after being parked (front camera replaced)
5.Panaromic Sunroof Cover stopped working (changed by Dealeship)

Some other quirks :
1.Low Fuel Efficiency (max 6 to 8 kmpl)
2.Noisy Diesel
3.19 inch wheels lead to slighly worse ride quality
4.19 inch spare tyre was really costly

Pro's
1.ADAS works amazing (have driven the car on highway myself)
2.Superb ride quality
3.No other mechanical niggles
4.DEF Topped once at 8000 KMS
5.NO DEF Related problems

@drift2race

The Safari 2.0L MJD is really noisy, but it is well insulated in my Safari XMA (bought in July 2022). Once the windows are rolled up you won't hear much noise... in my case the max average volume of my music system has been "4". I know Fiat diesels have been noisy like tractors & it was worst in my cousins S-Cross (1.3 MJD) which matched the tempo of a tractor (albeit in low volume) even when the windows were rolled up.

The mileage that you have reported - 6 to 7 is abysmal considering the fact that I take much worse stretches (Noida to Faridabad via Kalindi Kunj & Sarita Vihar for some reasons) yet have managed 10+ with AC 100% times. I presume the low running 9K kms over 11 months as compared to 35K kms over 2+ years in my case (that too with a second car that has run 30K kms, both driven exclusively by me) is the cause. I see your sister mostly running the Safari cold than letting the engine warm up for optimum performance.

As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, based on my experience on my 2023 (pre FL) Safari I can say that you can extract a lot on the highways. It can even be 20+ on cruise control on long stretches. In moderate city traffic expect under 10kmpl. In heavy traffic 6-8 sounds realistic based on my experience. I have never really measured FE systematically and I do not want to. At this size and this price, FE should be kept aside. This is not a champion at fuel efficiency. As long as the fuel gauge doesn't start dropping steeply, I wouldn't bother and rather enjoy the car.

My advise is that anyone looking for a fuel efficient car should look elsewhere.

The engine noise is considerable but there's a way to stop entering most of it in the cabin via sound dampening sheets being plastered throughout the doors and bonnet as well (we plan to get this done at Karol Bagh soon). As far as the mileage is concerned , the SUV has a low running that too in Noida & Ghaziabad with only occasional highway runs towards Meerut or Agra. Once we took out the car to vrindavan and it returned 10kmpl throughout , seems slightly aggressive driving improves it a lot.

Can you pls share a pic that is not from an angle from the top, but with the camera placed right in front of the number plate? I don't see any problem with the way the number plate is fixed from this pic. Also, the radar and the camera (behind the IRVM) work in tandem to deliver complete functionality.
