I bought my car from KHT motors, but always got it serviced at Classic motors TASC Yeshwanthpur. They are a service only place not affiliated directly to any showroom and have done a very good job of service so far. I drive with my car on a Saturday morning and return with it the same day. The longest they took so far is about 7 hours when an oil change and a (paid) interior deep clean were opted for.

+1 ; Same here. I have Seltos Diesel AT. It's very well made vehicle and has been serving me well. However, considering it is 2019 model which is is 5+ year old and is now out of warranty + obvious security concerns (it has 2 air bags) + need for 6+ seater (2 for kids), are making me think of shifting to Safari or XUV 700. I am looking at Safari and XUV 700.

I see safari is better from Road presence and creature comfort perspective. It caters to both NEEDS and WANTS. I liked he driving as well. I am looking for another Diesel AT to replace my Seltos Diesel AT.

Based on most of the threads I read in the forum, it looks like XUV 700 is better engineered package and I loved the car due to drive and handling perspective. However, it misses out on auto dimming IRVM, Read window shades and other basic features. The mentioned 2 features are deal breakers to me.

Generally Mahindra updates their cars even year Feb silently with minor adjustments and defect fixes as I would call. So, I guess it makes sense to wait couple of months and decide.

However, given that safari meet all my check box (& more), I need feedback from owners on -
1. Does it make sense to buy Safari (accomplished +). There is 2 L difference on road between accomplished and accomplished +. Does the cost justify the additional electronics & features for a 7 seat variant (ADAS , connected car , 1 extra speaker, JBL modes, emergency & breakdown call assist).

2. How is after sales support (esp in Bangalore - around Hosur Road area - Kropex).
a) I have heard - due to vehicle load- they generally keep vehicles for 2-3 days for service. Is that true?
b) I have also heard - service center folks are not aware of many new features and most fixes are hit and miss and not solution oriented.

It would be very helpful to hear from the experts and experienced owners in this forum. Kindly share your understanding/experiences that would help me seal the deal. Thank you

Totally depends on personal preference. I got + because I had made up mind to get the latest tech. Adas is increasingly becoming common in this segment of cars and I did not want to be in a situation where I regretted not getting it. Have extensively used the adas features (mainly on highways). They work well. 2 lac premium is steep and I can understand the dilemma. 1 lac would've been more justifiable but I guess innovative features come at a price for the years of research gone into them.

What you have heard about Kropex is mostly correct. You can read my experiences with them in post history. I have switched to prerana motors (kudlu gate) and found them to be better.

Good luck and happy shopping!

We drive a Accomplished plus 6S Safari. We test drove XUV700 and Hector as well a few times including 25-30km long drives. Few things stood out between Safari and XUV.

Me and wife felt Safari offered significantly better ergonomics than XUV. Also felt XUV had typical SUV ride, while Safari had the equivalent of a low slung sedan ride. We were moving from a Fluidic Elantra that was one of the lowest slung cars on the road. And for us, we immediately felt the shift was almost negligible in Safari compared to XUV. And this was felt as soon as we sat and held the steering in our hands after adjusting our seating position. It just drove like a car, even when we threw the car around corners.

Safari has much better third row space in this segment and is only behind Innova. You must sit in both XUV and Safari and then see for yourself. But i think XUV 2nd row seat tumbles but Safari doesn't, but still has enough space to access 3rd row from the space between the 2nd row seats in 6S version.

In Safari, 2nd row seats can slide front and back, while XUV 2nd row seats are fixed.

Overall, Safari felt more luxurious for the money we were paying. And mechanically the car felt sorted too.

The second row in the Safari does tumble in the 7 seater version with a 60:40 split. Agree with all the remaining observations made here.

Our Safari Accomplished+ has been running like a dream so far. She's in her 8th month now and has completed 16k kms already. Touchwood, I've not had any niggles in this 8 month ownership so far!

I am referring to the 6S version where the seat barely folds, forget tumbling, but there is enough space to walk into the 3rd row. But of course, 3rd row in this segment is never really designed for adults.

Hi, how did you manage to route the wire for the rear cam?

I have a dual dashcam too in my Sonet FL, but have installed just the front cam and looking for a quick DIY solution to route the wires to the rear cam; the reason being they 'might' hinder the functioning of the curtain airbags.

If you see my post, the wire had been routed under the roof liners/A,B,C pillars on the left side(passenger side). No panels were opened for this so as you stated this "might" hinder the curtain airbags. But again, the wire is not tightly tied to anything but only "tucked-in" so if someone pulls lightly also it comes out.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

So, I've been pushing off posting an update to my situation here, because I was afraid something might go wrong again.

First off, I would like to thank the staff at PPS Chromepet Service Centre, especially the Manager Mr. Gugan.

The service centre is always full, but atleast they take good care of your vehicle or so I believe.

The initial issue with the interior lights not working was found to be due to a loose earth wire, which was resolved when I left the car with them for 3 days. The issue recurred in exactly 1 month when I was travelling and Mr. Gugan was able to coordinate a response from the SC at my location. That the issue was not resolved then is another story, but the fact that he coordinated a response immediately is something I appreciate.

The cleaning levels are what is par for all service centres. You have to point out the dirty spots, but once you do, they do clean them, as many as you point out. So some vigilance might be required on this front.

Similarly, the addition of random charges in the bill seems to occur, but I didn't complain, since the cost was a mere ₹340 and I didn't want to raise a stink for something trivial, but I have learnt to keep my eyes peeled and ask for clarification.

I now have the confidence to let my father deal with the SC and not have to worry about him getting fleeced.

A few of the paint issues still remain, which need to be dealt with, but the body shop people have categorically stated that paint difference will be seen and nothing can be done. I'm now contemplating on whether I should just let them be, since they are not seen outside or deal with the headache of them not being the same color.

Similarly, the rusting spots on the underbody were coated with antirust coating, but without first sanding the rust off, so I don't know how effective it's going to be. The SC however stated that this was the standard process for all cars.

The issue with the 3rd row seatbelts was found to be a software defect and after reflashing the software, everything works as expected.

In other news,

The I in the badging on the doors has fallen off. I remember reading a post here a few months ago of someone complaining of the same thing, so I don't know whether it's the work of mischief makers or whether there's an issue with the glue.

Similarly, the vehicle is a hoot to drive. The clutch is still heavy, but I've learnt enough now to not let the vehicle stall. I would still prefer the AT, but the MT is not too bad either.

During the initial 1000 kms, the brake used to work well with a slight tap. This now has changed and requires a lot more force for the similar effect. The folks at the service centre bled the brakes once, but I don't believe anything has changed. I have now learnt to use it as a feature and not as a bug. It did lead to a few scary moments on the highways, for sure.

One other issue with respect to the software is that my vehicle now does not give audible warning about speed limits, even when enabled in the settings. This happened after a software update during the 1st service. Hoping to get this rectified in the 2nd service.

Similarly, the 3rd row seatbelt has come loose. Not extremely loose, but not as you would expect it to be in a new car, especially when the 3rd row hasn't been used all that much. I asked at the SC and they told me that retraction was working as expected and to use it as is now, and we can deal with the issue later on.

The FM quality drops when the headlights come on, so something is wrong there, but no one in my family actually uses the FM and so this hasn't affected us much. I would rather be happy with a non working FM, rather than one where the taillights are changed to get better reception, but end up with leaking taillights in the rain.

The car has a 70mai A510 dual dashcam installed. I was paranoid about routing the cables over the pillars, because of the airbags, so I decided to install them via the floor of the door frame. This has worked out well. I had to get an extension cable for the rear camera and an extension cable for the USB port, but both are hidden well and I personally like the look very much.

One of the most initial complaints I had right from booking the vehicle was with the usage of a wrong mobile number. Despite raising a stink at multiple levels within the dealership, nothing resulted. They managed to change it to the right mobile number for the iRA app, but were unable to change it in the webiste (cars.tatamotors.com).

This resulted in the company being unable to raise invoices for accessories. Service bills was not affected however.

Exasperated, I shot a mail to the regional customer service head Mr. Thangapandian specifically asking him to look into the issue and not forward it to the dealership, because I had hit a brick wall there, but he promptly forwarded it to the dealership who again did the same rigamarole.

I was livid, but with an exam coming up, I didn't want to focus on the issue. I randomly checked a few days ago and the issue seems to have sorted itself out. So I don't know what happened or how it happened, but all I know is that it is sorted out to my satisfaction.

Overall, some 6000 kms in, the initial disappointment has faded off and now I am confident enough to say I am satisfied.

I strongly believe Tata makes good cars, but is let down by both their QA/QC teams and their personnel on the ground. (Both sales and service)

Here's to hoping for a few lakh happy kilometres with the car.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

I came across this review of Safari Pure + S manual in Gallactic sapphire (Blue) color.

I remember reading news last month that Pure variant of Safari would lose LED lights, third row AC vents, spare wheel, roof lights for 2nd and 3rd row, TPMS.
I can still some of these in the Safari Pure+S shown in the above YouTube video
12:39 minute - Third row roof lamp seen
13:00 minute - I can see blower control in third row
13:04 minute - I can see blowers for third row

Were the features only deleted from Pure variant and Pure+S still has these features?
Has anyone purchased Safari Pure+S manufactured in November and can confirm if these features (LED lights, third row AC vents, spare wheel, roof lights for 2nd and 3rd row, TPMS) are still available ?

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

I was planning to buy Tata Safari Pure plus AT variant with Ex showroom price 19.49Lakh. and upon enquiry, for the month of December 2024, after all the discounts, I got the Quotation of 20.10Lakh to 20.15Lakh for BH registration. Should I go ahead for booking the vehicle or is there any scope for further negotiations !? . Please advise.

After owning a Safari 2.0 for a year, I have encountered significant reliability issues. The vehicle has broken down three times, requiring towing or service center assistance. Tata Motors has been unable to diagnose or resolve the problem, resorting to software resets and vague assurances. If you prioritize a trouble-free ownership experience, consider Japanese or Korean brands.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

My terrible experiences with the Tata Safari 2.0 facelift continue, and Tata has been unable to resolve them.

I bought the first Safari 2.0 facelift in Kerala and took delivery in the first week of November 2023. My initial experiences were good, and I recommended the car to many friends. I even discussed it during interviews on a prominent Malayalam YouTube channel for automobiles (link attached).

However, I am now extremely frustrated with owning the Tata Safari due to multiple problems. Tata initially resolved the issue of the vehicle not starting due to battery drain by downgrading the software to an earlier version. However, the issue of jerking during gear shifts (this is an automatic transmission) persisted, and Tata was unable to find a solution.

Last month, I was taking my sick son to the hospital when we encountered traffic. To reach the hospital on time, I decided to take an alternate route that was a few kilometers longer but would save time. Suddenly, the vehicle was stuck on the road. All the warning lights illuminated (please see the video). I couldn't engage the D mode and move the car. After several restarts, the car eventually went into F mode (crawl mode), allowing me to move it off the road and park it.

I called a towing service and waited. After 15 minutes, I tried to start the car, and it started as if nothing had happened. I returned home (my wife took my son in our other car) and tried to start the car the next morning. The same issue persisted. I contacted the service center, and they dispatched technicians to diagnose the issue. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, they took the vehicle for further repairs. Two days later, they returned the car, assuring me that the problem had been resolved and reported to TATA

After driving the vehicle for a mere 300 kilometers, I'm once again facing the same frustrating issue. The vehicle has broken down, and the same service center has taken it away without any promise of a temporary replacement. The Kerala-based service manager is completely unresponsive.

This is unacceptable. How can a new vehicle be so unreliable? It's deeply disappointing and raises serious questions about the vehicle's roadworthiness.

However any one tries to convince me - this will be my last Tata Car. Good bye Tata, forever.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hi All, I see a lot of love and bad experience on the Safari.
I post this now as I have done extensive testing of cars of options- XUV 700, scorpio, alcazar, invicto and Innova, and only the safari seems close to heart.

I keep my car for about 10years, the rapid has been with us for 10+, figo 1.5 tdci is with us for 9y, so need one that is reliable and no pain ownership. From the lovely city of BLR with some good highway trips are my pattern.

I am getting a decent deal on safari Manual. And the heart wants it.

Should I be moving away from safari? Worried as a middle class man who loves to drive and not spend time in service center. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Mate, every forum for every car is replete with quality issues of one kind or the other. People still buy cars, because of the same reasons you mentioned. Perhaps the difference is whether the % of a manufacturer's cars suffering quality issues is 3% or 5%.

Coming back to Safari, there are a few niggles - i face them as a 3m very proud owner - but nothing to lose sleep over. But if you take the variant that is manual is low on electronics quotient, I feel you will be a relatively happy man compared to those who bought fully loaded ATs including me.
