In the Harrier, the 12V socket is located under the centre armrest, and I assume it’s the same for the Safari. This positioning isn’t ideal for connecting a dashcam, as the wires could be visible to passengers and might become a nuisance.

Hardwiring offers a cleaner setup and avoids these issues entirely.

As for the warranty, the dealer team might raise concerns about it becoming void due to hardwiring. However, I spoke to a service manager from Tata Motors, and he confirmed that hardwiring won’t cause any warranty-related problems.
I have been using the USB port at front near the wireless charger to power the dashcam for more than a year without any issues on my 2023 (pre facelift) Safari. The wiring is well hidden, except for the last few inches.
I was told by my service advisor that any electrical issues arising if I hardwire a dashcam will not be covered under warranty. Hence I did not risk going down that route.
I do lose out on parking monitoring this way, but it is a feature I personally don't need.

Regards,
Abhishek

Hello, are you saying that once you've switched off FCW/AEB, it continues to remain off? In my car it comes back on, each time I start the car. Thankfully though when I reduced the intensity, it continued to remain at the 'low' setting.

I also happen to drive in the JVLR/Saki Naka belt of Mumbai and end up cursing the ADAS system each time it Yanks me back in bumper to bumper traffic.

After trying several settings and failing to be able to turn it off for good, I'm now working hard on tweaking my aggressive driving style in traffic.

Hey! Actually I clarified this in my subsequent post, it gets rest every time you start the car. So the only solution in my view is to either switch it off every time or just maintain good distance from the vehicle in front which as you would agree, is not entirely in our control!

@abhishek, can you please post a picture? I want to see how you have concealed the wire in the area where A pillar, dashboard and door pad meets. I could not find a way to make the wire out of sight in that area.

@Rajiv0909 What is the headline you are referring to mate?

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hello everyone,

I recently just noticed that the tailgate open button is not working in my car. I have got the rear led bar changed under warranty and I suspect that the button might be useless since then. I hardly ever use the boot button, I always either use the keys, gesture control or the touch control inside. The boot opening every other way except the button.

Has anyone else also experienced this? Is there any quick fix to this? I really don't want to take my car to the ASS.

Regards,
Sphere

I also got the rear LED changed however mine is working. They might have forgotten to connect the cable with the button.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hello All,

In my Safari post refilling of the DEF, I've traveled 1,000 km with complete city driving, but I still see the DEF level reading at 100%.
Is there anything to worry about? Do I need to visit TASS?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi safariLove,
I own a Tata Harrier. The DEF tank is of 15 liters and on a full tank you can go for 10,000-11,000kms. My SA had topped up the DEF tank during my first service at 1,000kms. Now at 10,800 kms I got the DEF warning of low DEF.
So I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I understand your question and confusion which is more about - is that gauge really working?

As suggested in above post, even your 5 liter top up will see you running about 3000-4000 kms depending on usage. So, no need to worry and keep driving. If there is no change in the gauge, say even after another 1000-1500 km then you should think of getting it checked.

Looks like in your case the tank was filled to the brim and its still consuming all the DEF above the first graduation. This is also seen in fuel gauge when you fill up to the brim and it doesn't move at all for a lot of kilometers and the starts dropping more systematically there on - but even then not necessarily in a linear way.

Off topic but my observation with fuel gauges is that it takes longer to consume the top half and the bottom half goes down much quicker.

Enjoy the lovely car!

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Car has done 11300KMs so far. Happy to report that there are no mechanical issues faced yet. Software glitches and minor issues pop up once in a while but nothing that is of serious concern. Overall, still very happy with the car.

Faced a strange problem recently. After power on, infotainment screen was stuck at the boot up screen that shows tata logo. Restart(s) did not solve it so took it to ASS. Came to know that infotainment system is constantly receiving power from battery so only way to cold restart it is to unplug battery. Did that and it fixed the issue. Posting pictures of the process. Hoping it will help fellow Safari/Harrier owners.

Also, noticed following crack on the camera housing in front cabin. I'm pretty sure that it's not an accidental damage. I'm the only one who drives this car and cleans the interiors, so I know everything that happens in the cabin. Besides, the crack is very clean, no smudges and scratches around it. This suggests that it is not because of any blow. My theory is that car was parked under sun, causing extreme heat and so the plastic part split. Has anyone else faced it?

Showed it to the SA (Prerana motors, kudlu gate Bangalore). Politely told him that I expect part to be replaced under warranty. He was not sure about it. He took a picture and said will let me know.

Pictures of the crack:

Yes, a few people told me that LKA is enabled in the August update , I am yet to get the latest firmware update, may be during my first service.

A few pictures of my 'BlackHawk' as I got my delivery during Navratri, yet to take it out for a long drive. No mechanical issues faced till date in my ~400 kms of city driving.

I got the Graphene coating done from 'The detailing mafia', Greater Noida West and am quite happy with the results.
