what an amazing review this has been.. its been a treat reading this thread... have spent last few hours! very well detailed review covering the most smallest of detail. precise and to the point! way better than any car magazine or automobile journo. Bravo GTO!

when you had reviewed the Mercedes E350 I fell in love with that car! and now you have made me switch side! Dream car this is without any doubt! segment leader for sure!

Just for reference: C&D rates the (last year of production) Audi A6 better than the new F10. F10 loses for its steering and dynamics which has traditionally been its strong points.

Agreed on the steering, not so on the dynamics. They say their dynamics rating is subjective.

Saw a black one in flesh today in Gurgaon.
The car was very pleasing to the eyes. Yet it did not stand out from the crowd. I am fighting for words here...but what I want to put across is that the car is good looking but not a stand out, which the earlier 5 series was or maybe even the current E Class is.

Great review guys... You've sold the 5 to me. Booked the 525d today. 49L on road, the only thing that i'm concerned about now is the alloy design. I dislike the 5 broad spoke alloys that were shown in the launch picture. The car is to be only delivered by september end and i hope its going to be the multi-spoke design.

The 530d is about 55.6 L OTR, Chennai ( Road tax here is 15% ).

The new 5 series is really selling fast. Ive seen so many of them the past few days. And i find it does look quite aggressive when the white angel eyes are on.

High 8s in the city and mid-12s on the highway.

Great colour combination you've chosen. Congrats and we look forward to an ownership thread on your car.

I thought so the same. On the UK BMW forums for the 520D and 525D people are getting close to 18-20 kmpl which is absurd. Our highway driving is probably close to europe city driving.

I love the Alpine white , but every new 5 series, 3 series, e class, q7 or any new car being sold , almost every car is white.

And i have a white Z4 already. So already done my contribution to the alpine white already.

I have test driven the new 530D in U.K. The new 5 series is indeed a great car but the base model is supplied practically bare here. Load it with options and price starts going haywire.

With due respect to all BMW lovers, wait till the Jaguar XF Diesel is released in India. It will simply blow your mind. Although the pricing may be higher as it would be imported.

I might just book a 525D in the next week. Find it good enough for Indian conditions, not worth paying 6+lacs more for the 530D. In any case dont sit at the back to enjoy the rear seat entertainement package.
For the power, will chip this engine.

Yup it looks good with the white angel eyes on. But when they are OFF, i noticed that the WHITE F10 has a lot more presence and a sense of "having arrived" than the other colours. Have seen tons of f10s in the last few days and apart from perhaps white ( havnt seen all colours on offer ) i wish the f10 had a bit more presence. Like the looks overall but the styling is too subtle to be really noticed or to turn heads when the corona rings are OFF. Just my opinion
