Pavan, that's why I keep harassing you on rust treatment

I don't think they did a proper job though the bus looks pristine in it. The pics were sent in 2009 but not sure when the work was done.

Will certainly keep this in mind

Re-creating few panels are taking a bit of time, In all probability, the First half of the Kombi should be ready in the next 10 days time.

I took these pics in january 2009 and have not seen the bus since, till today.
I cant belive just how bad it is.i am very pleased that it is at last getting
restored to a better standard and hopefully last for many years to come.
Look forward with interest.

re: The country's first CAL Look Baywindow Bus Restoration

Metal replacement work has started.

The Tinker has started work from the front of the Bus, will gradually get to the rear (THE MOST CHALLENGING PART).

To our horror, we dound few panels on the floor rusted, not a BIG core rust, but a light surface rust, that too will be treated.

Nice to see the progress coming along on this Bus, really admire the way each panel is slowly and meticulously being treated upon. Hope to see some more pics soon.

re: The country's first CAL Look Baywindow Bus Restoration

Reconstructing the rear windows becoming a BIG pain, weld it, tinker it, remove it, re-fit it, again weld it, tinker it, remove it, re-fit it, Too many tries to finally get the panel right

The tinker is giving all his best, i just hope he will replicate them exactly as it should be. 2 more weeks will go into restoring the rear.

Must say the integration of panels is very nice and precise, like the way the edges have been matched. Replicating these types of panels is not an easy as well as everybody's task . You are lucky to have such skilled manpower.
I wish this bus doesn't reveals any more surprises.

Thanks Pavan. It seems to have degenerated a fair since I saw it in Dec, but you guys are doing a Fab job!!

I wish I could send you some panels from here. The cost price is reasonable to procure it, but add shipping and customs and it is not feasible.

Still if there are any parts I can send from UK then let me know.

BTW my parents are travelling back to Mumbai end of June - are u still looking for Mini emblem?

Degenerated...! you can call it Disintegrated

Well, the rear window panels are in the worst shape than expected, the work has increased 2 folds, as even the rear inner panels are rotten. I had expected work to complete by first week of june, but looks like it will drag on for this month.

re: The country's first CAL Look Baywindow Bus Restoration

The said picture reminds me of a thing which the tinker, who worked on my S1, used to say to me everyday, Jahaan Haath lagaya wahaan haath me aiya LOL.
Its quite good in a way as its being done once and for all. Hope you meet this deadline.
