Yes, that would be good. Nowt like Scarboro' at Easter. Two years ago, or was it three? I went with a group from The Cricketers to drop eggs off at the hospital.

Hope the weather's better than it has been in recent years though.

I picked up a Lambretta limited edition Imola watch. The pack includes a personally signed page from the Chief of Design of Lambretta scooters. Its available on Emirates, but only 1947 watches are made, and I got #1900, so they must be running out fast.

Sighted an Aravalli scooter in this condition.The speedo though original is tattered.The footboard has resemblance to the Lambretta Li series.Though quite original the scooter needs to be done up a lot.

Is this for sale by any chance?

Incidentally, a scooter mech. who was then close to the area I lived back then had one in pista green, only slightly better than this! ;)

That was the first time I got to know a scooter with such a name existed, I was (and I'm sure most of us were) more familiar with Vijais and Allwyns of course.
It was up for sale around 8-9 years ago, had gone and taken a look at it. The speedo lens had gone all yellow and opaque with age so couldnt see the speedo but it had the metal side-panel strips (with 'Avanti Kelvinator' on them, but faded out)

I walked out on it mainly due to the condition as I felt my folks would throw a fit if they saw it.......but now I regret it!

Shyam, doubt if he would like to sell as he was talking about restoration.This was a Rajasthan Govt collaboration venture with Scooters India Ltd to make the Aravalli scooters. The shape is a bit different from the usual Vijai. It proves that Scooters India Ltd had acquired everything the Innocenti factory in Italy was making and the rights to manufacture them.Similarly there was a Digvijai from West Bengal Scooters Ltd that was a little bit different.

The side panels of the Avanti/Aravalli/Digvijai had different indentations and the speedometer displays were also changed , it was just a badge engineering exercise . If SIL had put more effort into the sales/marketing/product development then the story would have been diffrent.

Very interesting Anjan - the scooter appears to be very much Kelvinator Avanti based - although the legshields and mudguard are different. I would love to find out more about this type of scooter - I hope others on here can fill in some of the blanks :thumbs up

Alright Gentlemen, I will post some Lamby pics tomorrow. These are stationed at a garage next door where I live, in Bangalore. Will check on how much restoration has been done or is it just bling bling. from a distance of a few meters they look immaculate.

The panels look identical to Innocenti Li150 Series 3 panels.

More Aravalli pictures clicked in daylight!!The scooter had four gears as is usual in all the later Lambrettas. The engine covers on the sides have Lambretta like levers that have to be turned in the anti-clockwise direction to open.The best part of these scooters was the centrally mounted engine and the twin fork suspension (Vespas had it to the right). Another little innovative idea of the times was the transverse, metal sheet engine guard that was affixed aligned to the central stand.

Just wondering guys...from the number plate, can anyone make a guess regarding year of manufacture for this scooter?

Despite it's similarities with the Kelvinator, I'm guessing this model of scooter was manufactured much earlier due to the fact that it utilises the early handle type side panels (as has been pointed out - identical to LI Series 3 items) and not the clip-on type that all Indian Lambretta variants such as the Vijai, and Lamby used from the early 70s and Kelvinator used in the 80s.

The MXF series from Nagpur is from the late 1970's .. may be 1979 or so.
