Another one from Kerala.
This Ambassador mark 3 was used by Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj. He had his own Black Ambassador mark 3 as well.

This one is a Mark 2 methinks. Mark 3 had a different front grill - the indicators were separate from the radiator grill and were round. This is a Mark 2 grill, with the integrated oval indicators.

The former German Ambassador to India has thankfully acknowledged mention of his car in the article.
A memorable car left to rest for a long time being started. Wonder if any of the present day electronic circuitry rich car can repeat this feat after 20 years of neglect. That's the power of the archiac and fossilised technology that comprised the BMC designed, HM manufactured, 1.5 Diesel engine.
An eye opener for new versus old.

Nice Mark1 spotted near Fun World, Bangalore.

1969 petrol engine, fitness expired ( as per parivaahan). Most probably abandoned, still in good shape. Near Jacobs Junction , Trivandrum.

Clicked many a decades ago at this small town called Satna, Madhya Pradesh. CPA 2736 was my father's official vehicle. MMG 1357, was a company car at Mumbai, purchased by my father. Apart from the regular meters (Speedometer / Amp meter / Engine Water (coolant was not invented those days) Temperature meter / Engine oil pressure meter / Battery voltage meter / Fuel meter - it had a engine vacuum meter. A plastic pipe ran from this meter to a nipple welded to the intake manifold. At that time I was really green between my ears to know what it signified.

"Ambassador cars and Willys jeeps lined up at the Central Workshop (Government-run) for Bishwakarma puja celebrations. A shack was what was all there. The present Traffic Police was the HQ of BGTS. A bigger and proper workshop was built in late 1970s to cater to a growing number of vehicles. It is now a training centre."

Ambassador Grand taken out from the Income Tax residential quarters after being unused for years.

A police establishment here is extracting its non-runners from their lot. These cars have probably not run in ages. Yesterday, I saw a few Innovas and SX4s being pulled out to be sent to the scrap yard. They were largely intact, besides the deflated tyres and layers of dust and debris covering them.
Today, they pulled out the Ambys and laid them out in a line before they get sent to be crushed.
The way the Ambys have rotted is just unbelievable. These cars aren’t even that old, most being from 2005-2012.
