Please view some famous Indian websites that display used cars for sale.I found some good ones with pictures but forget the city these were advertised from.

Trivandrum, Cochin and Chennai :(

Right. It is a mark 1 and not a mark 2. It's a joy to see the beauty back in it's glory. Sadly, most of the mark 1s have been converted into mark 4s as they end plying as taxis.

This 1979 Mk3 for sale in Calicut

Seems the the body on this Mk3 has been replaced with a Mk4. The windshield wiper setup is Mk4.

I had posted pictures of a Mk3 and a Mk2 that had come for scrapping. Both were in pretty original condition, Mk3 even had a CF done till 2010.

Last checked, the Mk2 has been scrapped. Mk3 is still looking for takers. Here's the link:

Quite original looks.A good example. The headlight rings and the tail lights are not original, in the otherwise original body and its ornamentation. Even the cream paint seems original, maybe.

@ anjan_c2007
Are the ornamentation on Ambassador Mark II are original ???
Hrishikesh.

Hrishikesh.

Yes dhrishikesh other than the tail light covers (Mark 3/4 ish, but not even OE on the Mark 3/4) and the headlight rings (borrowed from the Mahindra CJ series or the 540DP) , the car is very original. As I said even the paint may be original. A picture of the dash and upholstery would have been ideal for us to view.

When I have gone to take the pics of this Amby, the owner was not there i.e. he is out of station. Therefore I have been able to take the pics. First he is refusing for taking the pics.
Will try for interior & dash board pics next time.
Thanks for the valuable reply.
Regards,
Hrishikesh

There is one old Ambassador in Dadar !!!
I used to see it back from my school days, will post the pics soon.

This one has some heavy metal mod jobs done on it and is rotting by the roadside. Sorry for the picture quality.

I rarely fall for Ambys......BUT I don't mind stopping to look at a nice, original early example now and then.
Here is a decent Amby mk1 I spotted parked the other day. 'looks all original barring the number and maybe the engine as well.

The funny part about this car is it has the OHV badges either side, fixed the other way around! Such that it reads V.H.O...get it?lol:

It's obvious that the owner doesn't know what it means and only knew that they come on the car, so just fitted them just for show!

Sorry but the only pic. I took of it, for fear of being spotted.
