Lambro thats a mid 1960's Vespa. Its in a very good condition.Try and get the original black dialled Yenkay speedo. Also with some searching you can get the original, front shock-up cover in metal with chrome plating.
Actually Bajaj Auto were like other automakers of the times asked to totally prune down the imported components. So the oval shaped Italian speedo (Piaggio make) with a white dial was gone alongwith the front shock up cover. The latter was made of aluminium till the 1980's and then replaced by a grey plastic cover that went on till the last scooters in the range were produced.
In the mid 1960's many other Italian components were also gone and were replaced by Indian ones.

Wow, nice new thread.
Pardon my ignorance guys, but this is the first time I'm seeing two-tone Vespas, and they're reeeally looking great For some reason I thought Vespas (in India at least) came only in single tone.
Keep up the pics.

Colour Combinations

Great thread! I am not sure if Vespas originally came with color combinations in the 1960's. Any more information and links will be very useful. I am planning to restore my 1960 Vespa.

Seeking Information - Vespa & Side Car

Seeking more information on Vespa & if it ever came with a O.E. side car and if there were different combinations / types. Do we still get side car for Vespa in India?

Yes indeed there were company painted original two tones for the Vespas, till I believe 1961 or so (for a year). Though the single colour scheme was too popular, two tones like plum brown on the side panels and a lemon yellow body and the next one with a light ocean blue and not very dark blue side panels were available

I am not sure about abroad, but in Indian markets I doubt these early Vespas ever came in two tone finishes.

Karl, I had myself seen these two tone Vespas (at least two of them in the colour combination as quoted) in original company paint that were with two very well known (to me) families.

A bright green Vespa is found here with some intricate work on the headlight ring.

What a wondeful thread! The romance of the old world scooters!
The new ones look more like space crafts, more practical as they may be.

My friend HILLRAM had one and he really took great care of her. He has thence added to his collection of Vespas.
