Ramesh,

You have done a great help here and this will certainly help me in the amby restoration as this is very specific reference material on the car.

I gratefully appreciate your efforts to scan and upload the manual for our benefit.

Thanks a lot once again.

Regards,
Sanat

More parts from Chorbazar

Dear friends,

Got the MK II grille, headlight rings and wheel caps from Chorbazar.

The grille came complete with the side indicator lamps.

The list of parts that I now need are as below :

- Taillight lens ( brake light ones - Red color )
- Ampmeter ( Autometer ) should get it from Chorbazar
- Signal indicator Lobe / horn mechanism
- Original Horn button
- Original rear view mirror

The work is getting delayed as my garage fellow has falled sick and has been advised 1 weeks rest. The mechanic who was to open the engine has gone off to his village for some domestic issues and hence the engine work is also now delayed.

What this means is that the work will now stretch into the mumbai monsoons which I wanted to avoid. Painting the car during the monsoons is something I dont want to do.

I am thinking of getting the bodywork completed and getting the car sprayed with red oxide and store it in a dry place till October comes and then the painting can be done.

What do you guys advise ?

Regards,

Sanat

Great work jeepster.
I see in one of the photos of the dashboard meters. The meter panel of Mark II consisted of 3 meters - i) the speedomeeter, ii) the ammeter and iii) the fuel gauge.
Are you planning to keep the original dynamo or do you have plans to change to an alternator? If you change to an alternator, it is better to have a voltmeter than ammeter. This IMHO.
So when can we see the mark II in full glory?

Sanat answering your queries:
Painting can be done during monsoons, but during the dry phases. If its a dust proof paint booth job, that can be done anytime. Would like to hear from other friends too on this topic.
The Mark II OE mirror was the same for a long, long time-should have been like this:

I will post a few better pictures soon.

Thanks for the rear view mirror photo, Anjan. Will search for one now.

The painting would be mostly be in covered shed or part covered one.

@samish_g - Thanks for your comments. I will retain the dynamo. The work has got delayed due to my mechanic falling sick and now should get completed after the rains, hopefully before October ends.

Regards,
Sanat

Good collection, the grille looks brand new and the indicator covers also. Regarding the paint my painter says it fine to paint the car even when in a down pour if the paint is a DUPONT. As my Jeep is going to get that brand for painting. I was in a thought that summers are the best for painting but the painter says gone are those days of Duco painting which requires sun or a heating booth. Still I am seeking the advice of experts. Gurus please do add me up to the information seekers list and kindly clarify.

Could anyone tell me whether the body shells had any variations from the Mark II to the IV and the others? We might just have to procure a new shell as this car has all but sunk into her grave!! Body is probably like an eggshell by now.

Will keep glued to this thread for guidelines on the resto. Good luck with it!

Cheers

Shasun, thanks a ton! Those pics brought back memories! The car I'd mentioned has finally been uprooted and towed off for a resto (which I have nothing to do with). Will try to get some WIP pics and start a thread on it if possible.

Jeepster09, work seems to have gone at a brisk pace, and seems really good too. Congrats on finding all the Chor Bazaar items! Hope the car turns out beautifully.

Cheers
Rahul
