It seems to be EC22.06 certified on the product page.

Is there an official dealer for Nexx in India? I want to pick up the WED2 or WED3 ADV helmet. I saw one at a shop for 29K but I'm not too sure if it's genuine.

I don't think apart from LS2 and MT any other non-Indian brand is available in India because of the ISI certification. Some dealers might be importing a few helmets but will sell you at a huge markup (including customs duty). X Wed3 sells for 699 euros. Even the xwed2 sells for roughly 25k on FC Moto, adding 42% customs and shipping charges will push the rates to around 42k so highly doubt someone will sell them for 29k unless it is a used one.
I'm afraid there is no dealer for India

That's why I asked. The helmet was definitely new. The helmet had a sticker of an importer from Gurgaon and MRP was marked as 39999. The price he was selling for got me suspicious as the shopkeeper is known to be very rigid on prices.
I Have HJC CS 15 and MT Blade 2SV Blaster.
Both are very good. I am using HJC since 2019 and MT since 2022. I have used MT previously also. This is my third MT helmet. In HJC there is a slight wind noise but awesome aerodynamics, it also feels lighter. MT is slightly heavier but absolutely no wind noise. It is a VFM helmet and feels safe. Visor, Foam, Fabric, Paint quality is very good in MT. I didn't like the new MT Mascot logo, it gets damaged soon.
I recently picked up a Caberg Drift Evo helmet from Louis Motorrad in Frankfurt. I went there to pick up the Caberg Avalon X. However, the team there convinced me of the Drift Evo. Here's why:
- Material: Drift Evo is made of fiberglass while Avalon is made of polycarbonate plastic
- Weight: As a result of being fiberglass construction, it weighs only 1350 gms
- Features: The Drift Evo comes with an extra dark visor and pin-lock installed from the factory
- Safety: Drift Evo comes with a double D ring while Avalon has a ratchet
- Price: While all the above was enough to convince me, the price swayed me strongly. I got the Drift Evo for 163 euros with all the extras included while Avalon X was selling at 180 euros without a pin-lock or an extra visor
I ride Street Twin, so to be honest, I am not fully convinced about the edgy graphics of the helmet, but I guess I'll be ok with it eventually. Also, Drift evo is ECE 22.05 while the Avalon X is 22.06.
Initial impressions: The helmet is light and relatively quiet at cruising speed. There is a chin curtain blocking road noise but ventilation is a bit compromised for our tropical condition.
Buying experience: Brilliant. They also have a testing zone where you can check your helmet for wind noise. When I tried the two helmets, I found Drift Evo quieter and hence made the final decision.

Here's the link of the product I ordered:
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
However, I had an issue with the second stand I'd ordered, as it was angled way too low. I had to manually bend it back. The mounting point was also way too forward set, causing it to sag. I had to jugaad-ify that as well. I'd also suggest checking out the below link:
https://www.themotoristcompany.com/p...eys-wall-mount
I currently own a LS2 FF320 Full Face and SMK Alterra and in the market to get a ADV / Touring Helmet with the following criteria. In Mumbai rains its impossible to wear the Alterra which is a MX helmet and the LS2 feels too claustrophobic. Its a good helmet on the highway runs and cross country touring.

5. Preferably a dual sport or ADV helmet

All am seeing are Axor, Axxis and LS2 MX436 /MX 701. Am not very keen on LS2 as somehow I find their fit and finish lacking. In my previous riding stint I had a SOL FF helmet and had loved it but now I don't see the brand being available any more.
What are my other options here in India. I also have someone travelling to London next month so can ask, but not sure if Helmets will be any cheaper there!

A video came up on my youtube feed today from a dude called Tiger Kaul, who is a biker and has a bike accessories store also.Don't want to add the link here. He was reviewing a film type of material that you can paste on the visor of the helmet that prevents scratches and water marks (water just flows done without staying on the visor). Looked pretty good but want to know if such a contraption is necessary and should i invest in it?
I went for a long ride today and the visor was pretty scuffed up with bugs and muck. Cleaned it and seems to be fine now but want to know if some sort of protection is recommended
|
It is not tear off film. I don't like to use tear off as well and litter our already dirty streets.
Here is the link to the product:

Has anybody used this one or something similar? How do you keep water drops out of the visor? How to protect from scratches?

I have applied it on my LS2 FF helmet. The water rolls off and doesnt stay. Has it significantly improved rain riding, then the answer is no. It's an incremental benefit and not worth the Rs.500 the film is for
I also have pin lock on the visor but it still fogs if I'm standing and the visor is closed but the vents are open

How much does a brand new visor cost? I don't think 500 bucks is worth it, or inexpensive, if I can pay a bit more and get a new visor itself instead.
Cheers, Doc
August 03 2024,
Got LS2 thunder carbon black color FF helmet, 34k inr and non negotiable, at helmet paradise opp urvashi theatre bangalore, they only had LS2 imported brand, they are small roadside shop with decent stock. Helmet came with 1 additional dark film visor, 1 anti fog film, set of 6 visor protector film use and throw, 1 head and face cover black, 1 neck pillow air inflatable black, 1 screw to open visor, 5 year paint protection.
Liked: looks slim, light weight, size S was perfect fit for me.

Just glanced through the RE Website and saw that they've launched some new motocross helmets to match the new Himalayan. |
1. They should have launched it as and ADV/Dual Sport Helmet (with a visor) since the Himalayan is an ADV. Also RE does sell a few ADV helmets they could have used these graphics.
2. The 2 Helmets they sell match the Kamet White and Hanle Black. They should have launched the other colours/graphics too for the Kaza Brown, Slate Poppy Blue and Slate Himalayan Salt.

Where are the MT branded helmets made? Spain? MT is a Spanish company.

Any reviews on these brands? Quote:
KYT & NHK are known for their racing presence.
| KYT - Yes. Never heard of NHK. Quote:
Most of them are from South East Asian countries like Vietnam (RideX), Indonesia (NHK) & Thailand (Bimola). Shaft is from Columbia!
| Never seen any of these brands in any stores or online. Quote:
KYT being part of Suomy group of Italy.
| This is news to me. I know KYT helmets are designed in Italy and manufactured in Indonesia. Something like Axor that is designed in Italy and manufactured in India. Quote:
But only their entry level lids are imported and if anyone has any insights please share their long term reliability and availability?
| The entry level Striker series is only ISI certified (No ECE or DOT certification). The next level TT-Corse is supposed to be ECE & ISI certified but on the helmet there is only the ISI mark.
In comparison for a similar price you get get something from MT with ISI, DOT, ECE and Sharp Certification.

So we picked up a Shaft Pro 610d Animatto helmet, ECE certified, from Openroad, again size Small. These are imported by Rynox Gears and is originally from Colombia. You can find the company web site here. It cost me Rs. 6450 and got the anti-fog insert for Rs. 550.
| Sadly you can't find these anymore. Quote:

Corsagram also had a big bunch of KYT helmets and Suomy, but I didnt get in to check the Suomy lids. Around 18K price is what they mentioned.
| 18K seems pretty decent for a Suomy. |

That's a steal for an Airoh.

Yet to see it in store but going by pic and the specs it seems to be really good.

If the helmet is being used in India what's the problem?

I understand the reluctance towards an Indian brands specially in terms of safety and good quality, but if a product is matching a standard that is set up by other countries or the countries who's product we whole heartedly recommend, I believe that it calls for a discussion, Ignyte is a brand name manufactured under Steelbird, and Steelbird is doing good in India for a long period of time, but I'll still keep your recommendations in mind. |
Personally I wouldn't buy a product just because it's made in India. Similarly I would not stay away from a product just because it made in China.
What we need to do is evaluate the product without looking at the country of manufacture and buy it for what it offers and at what price. Using this method, I would be open to buying an Ignyte.
Quote:
Aren't ISI, DOT and ECE 22.06 are the most basic safety standards that a helmet should meet? Ignyte has came up with few lines of product from IGN4 to IGN8 or more, IGN 4 was 22.05 certified, whereas IGN8 is 22.06 certified.
So for me, a helmet which costs less, looks good and matches the safety standard, makes me feel a little difficult to pass on, hence I have raised the query, but mostly the feedback I receive is that it's an Indian Brand which IMO is not a feedback but a prejudice.

Aren't such tasks (or for that matter any tasks related to making adjustments to your riding gear) meant to be done only when stopped?
Few questions:
- There are quite of few posts of people wanting to upgrade from the HJC helmets. Some of the are entry level sub 10K priced model's. Where are these available?
- When I bought my Duke 390 over 8 years ago KYT was available in stores. These days you don't see them. Any reviews on this brand?
- I still see people ordering helmets from European sites. Is there any way to calculate the customs duty beforehand?
- Regarding the ISI rule implementation what's your experience? If you get pulled over and the cops find you with a Non ISI helmet, is it just a fine or do they confiscate the helmet?
