Courts have upheld this charge in similar cases. Example:

This came was not covered in new much, it resulted in conviction.

You want police to start shooting all people who might do something really nasty? Well... bye-bye population explosion.

Comments on this incident, in this thread, have already been cleaned up. We are repeating what has been deleted already. Maybe you weren't aware of that.
Actually I would like police to shoot such hooligans on the spot. May be you have never faced such hooligans so you are going soft on them. If you did, I'm sure you would say different things. Lobogris only suggested slap attempted murder charges. I would say shoot the scum on the spot. I would prefer a police raj to a goond raj. Police at least have higher ups to report to and live in our midst, as opposed to criminals who shoot and flee. They say power corrupts. May be. We may have some power drunk cops to deal with. But better to deal with them than power drunk hoodlums. I do not believe in reforms and appeasing criminals. When we appease a criminal, we are making a mockery of law abiding citizens. We must reward good people instead of rewarding or appeasing criminals. No mercy at all. Such arrogant power drunk scumbags should be shot on the spot.

What if he regrets his actions later, when his mind cools off?

What if he killed her before his head cooled down? Between an innocent's life and a scumbag's , I would prefer innocent lives.

The world needs 50 shades of gray (regardless of what the CBFC will say!) - its easy enough to want a benevolent dictatorship as you seem to allude to.

IMHO, the police here should have definitely done something, but not shot the perpetrator. Violence should have been escalated progressively only as appropriate, and not suddenly use lethal force. Else there's marginal difference between mentally sick violent people and the state.

This accident happened couple days ago (11-Mar evening) near Trivandrum - an overtaking manouvre gone wrong resulting in the death of the driver. His wife and their 2 kids are seriously injured - which is not surprising given the condition of the Duster. News report and pic from yesterday's Malayala Manorama. One miscalulation and how tragic has been the end-result - feel so bad for the family, the lost live(s), the trauma that the survivors will have to live with for the rest of their lives.

I could identify the vehicle only from the distinctive color. Its really in a bad shape, must be a high speed collusion. Although, some damage could have happened while extracting people out of the mangled remains. RIP the deceased.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

There was a tragic accident yesterday on Jaipur Delhi Highway near Amity University. One male student died and his 4 female colleagues were injured. Windows had to be smashed to remove the injured from the car.

Prima facia it looks like a case of sudden lane change by the truck driver and inability of the car driver to react in time and apply brakes. Looks like the car was in high speed. May god give strength to his parents to bear the tragic loss.

Based on the photo there is not much damage on the driver's side when compared to co-driver side. That means the driver had not worn seatbelts while the ladies did?

Also the absence of rear under-run protection on the truck. Probably with the under run protection bar the result would have been less tragic!

The poor Maruti 800 doesnt have anything left to be salvaged but a headlamp. Shudder to think what happened to the occupants. Also, from the soot on the toppled trailer truck, looks like there had been a fire in the engine compartment that has been put out eventually.

Was he the only occupant of the car?

And from what I could find on the net, it seems the Sola bridge has quite a notorious reputation as being an accident prone area.
