It was a Audi Q7. When I passed through there I saw a lot of debris just after the spot where you take a u-turn. Little ahead, just before the Ejipura signal, saw the Q7 parked on the side and people inspecting it.

My goodness, this seems to a extremely horrible accident. The A-Star is completely smashed & topsy-turvey. I sincerely hope & pray that the occupants have survived this horrible crash. The A-Star driver must be driving at some really crazy speeds. Any further information about this accident would be appreciated.

Well, even if the A-Star driver was doing insane speeds, what business did the Q7 have to kiss and launch the A-Star into flight? Sorry, but I would think the Q7 is to blame here as he is supposed to maintain safe braking distance.

At the risk of being judgmental, the bigger the vehicle driven, the more arrogantly it is driven in India.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

^^ not really ; my observations point to maximum rogue drivers in the Sumos , Santros and old Wagon-Rs

Big ones which are "arrogantly" driven are STU buses

My suspicions from 800 kms away based on everyday sights:
- Astar doing high speeds on right lane
- Q7 honks/ flashes/ generally bullies the Astar
- Astar doesnt budge as quickly as Q7 driver wants/ expects based on size of his vehicle.
- Q7 tries to overtake from left
- In the meanwhile Astar decides to give way on the right and moves to the centre/ left lane
- Q7 has reached past the Astar bumper on the left
- Bam!
- Slight touch and the Astar is seeing stars

I hope there were no injuries/ casualties and that the Astar driver was buckled up!

That's a horrific crash, hope the occupants of the A-star are fine.
From the pics, it looks like the Q7 made an error in overtaking. The Q7 has hit the rear left of the A-star causing it to go airborne and crash.

870kms away

there could be another scenario.
- A-Star was speeding and was zigzagging through traffic
- there was a slow moving vehicle in front of it
- A-Star tries to overtake be switching to center lane
- meanwhile, the Q7 was trying to overtake both from the center lane
- A-Star makes contact with Q7 when switching to center lane at high speed

plausible?

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Whatever guys, there are versions which can place the blame on either one. My prayers are with the A-Star folks. Hope they escaped with no major harm or injury.

Look at the two vehicles at the end of it. It's agony for the owners.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

As you mention, it is near the turn off, my guess is that the A star did a U turn and the Audi was speeding and hit him mid turn. The impact on the A star is high.

Note TN plates on Audi so chances is the driver was not aware of the turn off

Whatever it could be, it is sure problem of abruptly switching lane without looking into mirrors and insane high speed. Crash site was horrible. Audi Q7 is repairable and not taken much of the grunt.

That U-Turn on IRR is insane. They had made a Speed hump some time back which they removed i dont know why. Taking a U-turn at any time there is like "Who dares wins". Ideally, there should be a traffic light there.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

3-4 days back I saw an Accident just outside the Inorbit Mall in Viman Nagar. A truck (dumper) had driven into the back of an A-star. No pics as I was driving alone. The A-Star had a lot of stickers and looked like a demo car. The entire C - Pillar was crushed in. It was very close to the U-turn. Probably happened when the driver of the Astar decided to slow down to take the turn and the trucker just couldnt control or was fast or the A-star person did not give enough advance warning.

As per the Dinamalar, Tamil Daily, This accident happened at Munnar, Kanni malai side, Rolled down from Mael (Upper) Road.

Is it a Hyundai Accent?
