Apparently it was a high speed head on. The occupants remained safe. Details not available.

Hope your friend's fine. I saw this few days ago when i was going to office. This was in JP Nagar, near an apartment complex that's practically in the middle of the road !!

Attaching snaps of an accident that happened yesterday. This was on the narrow road from Chikmaglur to the Mullayanagiri peak, and it happened on a bend in the ghat section. I wasn't there (snaps taken by another guest in same home-stay where i was put up - they were stuck there for few hours).

The good news is that no one was hurt - the bus had college kids who jumped out of the windows. It's not clear how the accident happened, some say both the bus and i10 were going a little fast on the curve. Looks like the bus hit part of the hill and was overturning - the i10 somehow blocked it's fall into the steep hillside below.

Scary stuff really - the situation was finally solved by tying ropes to the bus and pulling it to one side. It was then towed back to the city.

^^ Looks like both i10 and bus was at speed and the car was taking a sweeping turn almost on the right lane. The bus driver did his best to avoid a head on collision and ended up on the incline almost overturned and rested on the car. Phew, good that no one was hurt.

Today morning i witnessed an accident right in front of me. Around 10 am i was driving from Mangalore to Kasargod and just before Ullal bridge a maruti van approaching from the opposite side crossed over to our lane and just stopped blocking the lane on a two lane highway. I saw a motorcyle rider in front of me brake hard and he even tried to stop the bike with his legs at the last second but he collided with the van and his head hit the right side headlight of the van and his helmet was ripped off. all this happened real fast but for me it was like a slow motion scene from a movie.
I stopped and went to the fallen guy by that time some people from a nearby garage also reached him and helped him stand up but he was disoriented and his money and keys were handed over to him by someone and another person used the victims cellpone to dial some number in the call list and informed them about the accident.
The victim had bleeding from one ear and there was nothing much i could do to help him there and i advised them to take him immediately to the medical college hospital at kankanady. I hope he has not sustained any internal injuries.

He may have some internal injuries as he was bleeding from ear. btw dont know whether this is a right question but any idea if the helmet was fastened properly. If so can the belt shear/cut on impact?

On Friday 6th April, a BEST Bus (doubledecker) in Mumbai overturned at Bandra signal & a innocent Biker got crushed under the massive 7600 kgs bus. The reason for the Bus getting tipped over was that driver took the turn at a high speed to jump the amber signal.



Luckily nobody inside the bus is critically injured, but the most unfortunate fall-out of this accident was death of a Biker, without any fault of his.

What pains my heart is the fact that the biker, Harish Pillai (31), was on his way to collect his fiancee's wedding wear. He was engaged & was scheduled to get married on May 3. Also his fiancee's mother was distributing Wedding Cards when this incident happened.

Going by the quality of most helmets used nowadays, bought off the roadside places, it can shear off.
More likely, it will let go at mounting point or the clasp itself.

However, even if there is no break, you only have to look at simoncelli's accident to see that given enough force, the belt and the helmet can still deform the human head and come off.

Guys, I need some advice to deal with the court case of an accident I was involved in.

In September 2011, I was cruising on NH4 near Ranebennur, and not too much above speed limit (may be 80-90 kmph). At a point, a bus was stopped in the left lane. As I was crossing the bus, I suddenly spotted an Indica emerging at right angles to the bus (from a village road)). It was trying to take a right turn through a break in the divider. He stopped at right angles to my lane, possibly because of the traffic on the opposite side. I tried my best to swerve left, but ended up hitting Indica's right rear fender. My car took most damage.

They demanded compensation, but I proceeded with police case as advised by a local friend with some contacts. So the Indica people also filed a counter case. But the police said it was my fault, since I had crashed. I asked them, whose fault is it when you see some chopping vegetables and put your finger under the knife. No answer. Needless to say, the cops were on Indica's side.

Now my friend gave a call and told me to come tomorrow to sign some papers and pay a fine.

My doubt is, does it mean that I am accepting my guilt? I don't want to do that. Do I have any other option?

I dont know about the rules. Any arguments have to be done in the court I guess, not with the Police.

Indian laws are little archaic and dumb.

No need to worry, they cannot claim compensation from you. Your insurance will take care of it. That is what you pay your premium for.
You will need to pay the fine only if the court finds you guilty of causing the accident.

If you decide not to pay the fine, then you need to fight the case by hiring a lawyer and keep travelling to the court where the case is assigned. It is a lengthy process and may even cost you more than the fine amount. Please do check this out before paying the fine.
It is better off to pay the fine and let the other person claim compensation from your insurance company. This will usually work out cheaper compared to the other option.

Saw this accident yesterday in the evening on rd. no 1, banjara hills while going towards Nagarjuna Circle.
This Fortuner was stuck above the footpath just before the gate of JalagamVengala Rao Park on rd. no 1.
Couldn't take a close up while going as I spotted it late. While coming back, managed to stop the car and click from the other side of the road.
Looks ,like it swerved and somehow climbed the footpath backwards.

There was a towing car which just arrived as it was not there before while going. Looked to me like a fresh accident. No idea , how it happened though.

He was wearing a full face helmet but the force of the impact ripped off the helmet. His head hit the van and he spun around in the air and landed on the side of the road.
Many years back i think in 1995 i was on my motorcycle next to a bus at a traffic signal in mangalore and people were crossing the road right in front of me. The bus driver next to me accelerated suddenly as he must have thought all the pedestrians have crossed over.even as he accelerated i could see a lady come from front of the bus. She almost made it across but the bus hit her and she fell backwards and to my horror the front wheel of the bus squashed her head like a lemon hardly 4 feet from me. No way she could survive that so i got away from there before the crowd gathering could turn voilent.

Hi Rohan.

I don't think you need to worry. The court may rule the case in favour of the Indica guy, but the insurance company will take care of it.

You can either plead guilty and pay the fine, or contest the case. If you do contest the case, make sure you get a good lawyer who specialists in Motor Vehicle Laws.

Now, the problem is you hit him from behind. And generally, the person who hits another person from the back is considered the culprit. But if your attorney is good, he could change your fortunes.

While framing your argument, be sure to mention that the Indica 'popped out' onto the road without giving any sort of indication and without looking for vehicles before getting onto the road. Since this is the highway, it may be ruled in your favour.
