Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

I came across this video where the guy is driving in the most horrible fashion nearing 180 km/h on the highway with the camera on one hand he almost killed a guy on the motorbike. Such crazy guys should be blacklisted and should never be given a test drive car to review in the first place. It’s like giving a gun to a monkey.
All this is done for views. Please, some one should tag TATA motors.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

Might be a good idea to report to the traffic police in the city online using the number plate of the vehicle.

The cops might
a) work out the identity of the driver or
b) give the dealership enough of a headache that the reviewer in question doesn't get another car from them.

Social media pressure e.g. Facebook or Twitter of the carmaker/police department of that city might work too.

Halfway through the video, when he says, Seeti si awaaz- amplifier se! God, I laughed.

What kind of a review/abuse do the cars go through? And how do such people even get a car for such purposes. The other thought though is, maybe because of such theatrics do such people get followed and hence, get away with such rubbish.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

This is a practice that has been going on for very long and you forgot the youtuber who actually pioneered it. I will leave a link to his channel below.

https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCPF4bAZimS4T8w1TlbeIAYg

Though his channel no more has videos of reckless driving present on it anymore, there was a time when this guy would do speeds as high as 140+ on Palm Beach Road and 230-240 on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in his (so called) vlogs. And ofcourse, his blind supporters who are out there to defend him in the comment section when you point this out are another lot of fools altogether.

Have already said this before and will say it again, in a country where standards of journalism have plummeted these days, I don't really find it surprising that people tend to lap up any tom, dick and harry who calls himself or herself as an "influencer" when all he or she knows is how to launch cars, do reckless speeds and make meaningless insta reels with cars to gain views. I still fail to understand how manufacturers lend cars to such personalities.

Right Vishy. I didn’t want to take his name, lest, people go to his videos trying to figure out what’s wrong and then, he gets more hits and views. But ya, he was a pioneer in doing bad stuff to roads, cars and to himself. He’s still doing his bit though and unfortunately, is gaining more popularity.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

These videos should be reported to YouTube and also "hit that dislike button". Sufficient number of reports will lead to takedown of video. I don't know whether it will result in the video being demonetized, but even if only that occurs, its good.

Police report is a hassle (atleast for me) and pressure on dealerships can be exerted by tagging the brand or the senior people on social media.

I have one more suggestion - Post all the videos we find here. Such videos should then be reported for "harmful or dangerous acts". This should help a little to tackle this mess.

The members of the forum who have some connections with brands or authorities should make them aware of this. If possible, please post the location if you can identify it. It will help others in the area to narrow it down to the offending dealer and make it much easier to report.

Fact of the matter is he still does reckless driving, just that he doesn't show it on the camera/video. I pity those media cars and the journos who get a car after his maniac driving manners!

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

Wanted to point it out in our car videos/YouTube videos page, but then thought how I may be contributing to their goal. More viewers!!!

Not Faisal, though his initial videos made me think, "How are the authorities not seeing it", over the years he has mellowed down. So much so, there isn't much to see in his videos. Better to see Gagan Chaudhary's videos for that POV detailed effect.

The one that I absolutely hate is the guy who kinda made me fell in love with the Ford Freestyle. Just search in YouTube for Freestyle (D)- off-road/highway.

Atrocious driving to say the least. Name any aspect of bad drivers we hate about, he has it.
Doing 160+ km/h on public roads, weaving in and out of traffic, no idea of lane manners, quick steering inputs on city/highway roads, looking at the screen/camera while driving, adjusting his seat/steering wheel while moving.
Not to say he stands on the horn. Even while driving in the middle of a fricking field!!! And to top it off, rap style NCR punjabi talking.

Not aware of others, since other than the mainstream media, I only see vlogger videos specialising on the walkaround type and showing different variants. Avoid watching others.

My current favourite, our own JayD's 'Talking Cars'. Almost niche enthusiast stuff, but pity it's only in Malayalam.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

Youtube is full of those videos with people overspeeding, I have been thinking is it even legal, why can't authorities take a note themselves and issue them challans. These videos are proof in themselves.

The most simple option we have is to report to authorities ourselves when we spot these videos, All other options need too many people to dislike, downvote, etc, that doesn't happen so easily.

For example, in Bangalore, we can report violations through traffic police's PublicEye portal. There must be similar apps in other cities.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

All these antics are done for views and nothing else.
Would you watch a slow driving video with full of knowledge speaking or a POV video full of rash driving and loud talking?
These kinds of people do not deserve test-drive cars.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

I've seen some Hindi car reviews on Youtube. Some standard catchphrases that everybody uses:

- Isme backseat/features/whatever badiya hain
- Aaaram se chalti hain gaadi
- Koi Dikkat nahi hogi

As far as I know, hitting the dislike button helps the Youtuber and the algorithm might start recommending the video more. When you hit like or dislike button, it is considered an 'engaging' video by Youtube's algo.

Re: Unsafe driving by YouTube reviewers for channel views

Pandabear and vishy76, thanks to you, these rubbish videos got one view each from me!

◘ Faisal Khan uses professional gear for his videos, but in the video Pandabear shared — the guy was holding the camera in his hand and cruising at such high speeds. That is distracted driving, so he should be fined anyway.

◘ Faisal Khan started this whole speeding thing, but 100s of people imitated him. Take a look at all the speeding videos that are out there on YT.

◘ BHPians above who talked about reporting the number plate to traffic police — TD cars are generally registered to the manufacturer. I don’t think it is Faisal Khan whom the traffic police would be after - it is the carmaker to whom the car is registered.

Now carmakers can —
a) Stop giving cars to Faisal Khan, receive a boycott from FASTER (Leading online auto media outlets come together to form FASTER) and have 1 million fanboys hate them and miss out on publicity.

b) Or pay up the ₹500 rupee fine, give Faisal Khan another car to do the same thing, have him praise and glorify the car and have 1 million people watch the review.

◘ If I was the manufacturer, I would choose the latter and wouldn’t even care about the video. One million viewers would be watching his review of my car and I don’t want to lose that publicity and get media to hate me.

◘ Even Khan would gladly pay the ₹500 fine and continue to speed. Why? Because speeding = views. As Govardhansupra said, nobody wants to watch a video with slow-driving but knowledge speaking. Atleast, not the 1m people who have subscribed to FK.

◘ The media car fleet is insured so the manufacturer doesn’t care even if Khan crashes it. For a while, Khan even blurred the speedometer or put a Motorbeam logo on the speedometer. The speeding never stopped.

◘ Faisal Khan is way too popular for the car makers to stop giving cars but even the guy whose video Pandabear shared has 619k subs!

Agree with you buddy. While I do enjoy watching FK's vlogs, I did pay attention to the speedo. Atleast for the recent videos, he hardly goes above 100-120. I did find him doing launchs when not 100% safe, and do not agree with his driving style in traffic.

That being said, I saw this little note on the videos, just before he starts to drive.

"This footage has been sped up with added sound for a dramatic effect".
Yeah, sped up and added sound from accelerating hard.

The worst is when he squeals like a child on diwali morning with "THIS CAR HAS PLLLLENTY OF WHEELSPIN ON OFFER". In one of his reviews, the new Mini JCW, he keeps doing it over and over and over again. It baffles my mind how wheel spin can be looked at as a positive thing to be desired in a car! The way he props it up, I won't be surprised if young kids who're first-time drivers keep emulating him. Hell, he even does it in the new Swift review.

In this regard, I find Gagan Choudhary to be a really good reviewer. Exhaustive, in depth, and very measured and safe - and at the same time no cringey hijinks nor any sucking up to the auto makers.

Off topic. FK should be banned for the way he talks and not just for over speeding. I just can't bear him talking not sure if it is just me or anyone else feels the same. I love Gagan's reviews. He has knowledge, he speaks well and he drives sanely.
