You got a free cardboard box !! Good reflexes though.

Whenever I come across any such vehicle loaded with unsecured load or even secured dangling items (iron rods/sheets/pandal bamboo) I stay back and get out of the lane at the first opportunity. Maybe its due to watching Final Destination one times too many

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

I felt so bad for the car driver.

The idiot on the bike fell down and started becoming very abusive towards the car driver.
So I stopped.
Downloaded the video.

Walked back to them. Connected with the car driver over WhatsApp and sent him the video.

Then told the idiot that all he had to say was sorry and his behaviour was very disgraceful.

My advice to everyone, get a dash cam for your cars.

There are too many arrogant brats on the road.

He's doing that stupid thing of nipping through a closing gap. This time it didn't work out for him. Well done for helping out the car driver.

Two wheeler manufacturers are a big reason why no one in India follows lane traffic. They always show in their ads that you can "cut through the traffic" using their scooter/bike. This was a popular trope in almost every two wheeler ad till few years back (I don't know what they show these days).

So everyone thinks it's ok or normal to go through narrow gaps if you are a driver. In fact common public thinks that is a 'skill'!

The helmetless idiot on the scooter piling into the gap created by the incident is the icing on the cake. Indian motorists refuse to learn even from an incident that literally happened before their eyes

Dude was driving while watching a movie! Atleast invest in a phone holder. The phone was resting on the windshield.

I like this cop especially when I see such drivers daily and cause nuisance.

Completely unacceptable any way or any how. Any such visual/mental distraction is dangerous.

I don't even like glancing at maps when navigation, but at least that is a part of the getting-there process.

It is too late, and there can never be going back from this menace. Many times I see people driving, 100% occupied on the phone, slowing down the lane massively. (i.e. :-- neck is bent down, no vision on the road ahead, just lightly holding the steering, so road undulations do not cause the car to curve. A straight, slow, line) Totally oblivious to society and driving norms as a whole. They should be banned from driving -- for life.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Two wheelers on our roads think they are invincible. After they upgrade to cars they keep driving the same way, resulting in the “Mad Max” + “Death Race” state of our roads.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Near my society in Gurgaon, there are traffic police often pulling up car drivers who cross a signal on the yellow / red light. However, on the opposite side of the road, there is rampant wrong side driving by 2 wheeler riders which is completely ignored by these traffic police. I have rarely seen cars being driven on the wrong side. Once we had a near miss because of the wrong side driving of an autorickshaw (captured on my dashcam) and we went up to the traffic police right next to the spot to raise a complaint. They simply brushed us off saying that if there is no accident, there is no need to raise a complaint. I have accepted the bitter reality that the traffic police will go for the low hanging fruits - stop the car drivers since they cannot zoom away the way the 2 wheeler riders can - further encouraging the 2 wheeler riders to flout rules.

In the last week I was travelling in Tamilnadu last week and honest feedback was that TN people have zero traffic sense. Bikers are absolutely crazy and blatantly driving on wrong side and Public transport drivers are restless and are constantly honking without even waiting for fraction of a second. With that kind of attitude on the road there is high chance of accidents. I pray god to please give some patience to such people.

I have to respectfully disagree with this assessment on a specific region. Having driven extensively across all the 4 southern states + Maharashtra and Goa, I can assure you it's pretty much the same no matter where you drive. Also gone are the days when lorry drivers and their illiteracy were blamed for poor driving. If anything, I find them far more disciplined than the average joe with a college degree and decent exposure to world affairs.

Driving and civic sense in general has gone down considerably in this country. Unless you go to some of the less explored NE states where folks are still considerable and polite, it's pretty much a s**t show on the roads. Region and class have nothing to do with it. It's simply, lack of empathy and respect for fellow road users and the law.
