Hello skd! Are you talking about these dirt patches that are visible on maps? To me they look more like the railway line expansion project that is ongoing in the Agra - Kanpur - Mugalsarai sector. If you notice it departs from the railway lines only near major tows/villages - otherwise it is sticking to the railway line.

Sorry if you were talking about some other patches altogether, I am not able to locate any thing else - would be helpful if you could point it out.

I think this rail project is not what I am talking about.

I am on a mobile at present thus can not send you screenshots for 2-3 days. Pl see if you can find the ALE alignment by yourself in the meantime.

Please search for Vilage Araul, near Kannauj, on Google Maps.

From there on you can make out the alignment of ALE for approx 100 km.

Similarly search for Fatehabad, near Agra. North of the town you can make out a long fresh ribbon that stretches til Agra.

You already have the positions of Gurha, Moonj and Narmau.

Please give it a try.

Thanks. Looks quite feasible. Looking at the state of NH91 for Kanpur the best point of access is likely to be from AH1 from Auraiya (about 90 km away).

Is NH91, Kanpur to Kannauj, so bad?

NH91 is in a real state. I had to go down it for only 10km and it was ba..ad, all claims notwithstanding. I do hear that the Mandhana-Bhauti link (NH91 to NH2/AH1) is being cleared. I hope the NH91 to Mandana will also be done soon, and then I will have an good alternative. I do not know what is happening to the Eight lane Bridge across the Ganges! With elections due in 2017 Mulayam has to be seen to deliver. They are claiming that the Lucknow-Agra expressway will be done by the end of 2016! But them claiming and delivering ar not the same esp in Ulta Pradesh.

Frankly with the Kanpur-Etawah section six laned, things are pretty good on the AH1. However, beyond Etawah AH1 is pretty tatty, and then the constant sour point Ferozabad is there. However, I must say this time we managed Gurgaon - Kanpur door-to-door in 8-1/2 hours as against the 9-1/2 to 10-1/2 in all previous trips. This is with two food and three loo stops included.

@skdking; Looks very interesting. One point, it is ending up quite a distance from Agra, so the link to YE (for Delhi, Noida etc) will be a toughie. NH2 from Agra to Delhi is a pain. Maybe the Yadav's do not want to get close to the Maya highway (YE)!

But there seems to be some work being done to connect the two? See the attached screenshot.

When does this see light of day? When is it expected to be complete for vehicular traffic?

My bad. I should have done some googling before asking this question. As per wikipedia, "May 2015: Work on two major bridges on Yamuna and Ganga river started.[9] UP Chief Secretary, Alok Ranjan said that the expressway would be operational by the end of October 2016.[10]"

If this actually meets its timeline, I may be driving on it as early as December of this year. It currently takes me 30 hours of driving time from Shillong to Delhi. Once this is operational, I should be able to do it under 24 hours. clap:

Work seems to be progressing as per releases in the press. They want it up (or at least major chunks) before polls next year. I hear that work on NH91 to Aligarh may also be starting 'real soon'. By the looks of it for me the best option may be NH91 to Kannauj and then the Lko-AAra-E'way leading to YE!! Hope it happens in my lifetime.

Yes, so we from Kanpur have to cross the Ganges twice to get back to our bank of the Ganges. - Kanpur to trans-Ganga (normally Barrage so no bridge), and then back on the 8-lane bridge on the E-way. Also, I hear sales of real estate in the Trans Ganga city is in a bad shape. Sky-high prices, total uncertainty about infrastructure (UPians do not trust the sarkar), and apparently total ban on reselling (so no exit).
