Yes, so we from Kanpur have to cross the Ganges twice to get back to our bank of the Ganges. - Kanpur to trans-Ganga (normally Barrage so no bridge), and then back on the 8-lane bridge on the E-way. Also, I hear sales of real estate in the Trans Ganga city is in a bad shape. Sky-high prices, total uncertainty about infrastructure (UPians do not trust the sarkar), and apparently total ban on reselling (so no exit).

Dear Prof,

Else you can drive to Araul (Near Kannauj) and get on to ALE. 65 km it is.

Should suit you.

Given the current state of NH91 no way! I do not want to do even 10km on it.

Dear Prof,

Hohoho. For avoiding NH 91 you may have to go to Bangarmau (82 km) or Kathaphori on NH 2 (182 Km) as these are the nearest entry points to ALE.

I visited Kannauj in Feb. Between Kannauj and Chhibramau NH 91 was not so bad. Had been recently repaired in patches. No idea about the rest of it.

Let the ALE (Agra Lucknow Expressway) come and then I will see. As it stands the barrage is not that far from my house (<10km) so it is not a real pain. I am sure something will be worked out from the Kanpur traffic.

As per today's paper the section linking two 'Royal' constituencies, Etawah-Kannauj is to be opened in October (I guess 2016!). Fingers crossed, even though it done me no good.

Apparently .. we are on dot for the expressway inauguration in October - so much in the name of coming polls.

ET - Lucknow Agra Expressway

Not quite sure of the claim to be built in record time :)

So if we drive from Indirapuram to Lucknow. We have to take the Yamuna Expressway and then from there it will connect to ALE? What will be the point of connection to the ALE from Yamuna Expressway side?

Yamuna Expressway is directly being linked to ALE. Seems like a 5-6 km link between them.

Hello there,

One will have to continue from YEW to Agra Ring Road.

After about 10 km there will be an interchange to get onto ALE, as shown in the picture below: -

October inauguration may be more political than real. Some sections will be inaugurated, and not all of them. Also, the idea of developing veg and fruit mandis, and other sundry bits along the E-way makes me worried. Some babus trying to curry favours may render it more of as a Bullock Cart track.Imagine a herd of tractors with trollies on the LEA. Take NH2/AH1 outside Kanpur the fruit and veg wholesale market at Chakarpur was a nightmare until in the six laning process it was taken care of, by a large flyover.

Yeah, if not bullock carts I would surely expect tractors coming along, especially so from wrong direction.
Due to long divided lanes we used to see loads of such localites on Hyd-Vijaywada highway after its six laning, causing many a accidents.

ALE is getting ready for inauguration. Please read these two news reports.

This is going to be inaugurated today. As per the news reports, 8 fighter jets are going to be landed on this 6 lane highway as part of the inauguration.
It is going to be near Unnao, as I saw in the article.

Can anybody confirm, about the completeness of this project in all aspects?

This is confirmed. It is on the NDTV website now. 4 Sukhois and 4 Mirage 2000s. The reports says that the jets will skim the expressway in a simulated landing.
