Considering the fact that the mining bosses are backing the new govt, is it just a matter of time before mining trucks reappear on Shiradi ghat ?

Instead of using trucks, can't they use the railways to carry ore ?

Yes it is open, a friend of mine did this last weekend and was damn impressed. But with better roads there were some morons doing very high speeding at corners and down slopes on their cars with stock tyres causing risk to others. Hence people should be careful while negotiating curves in the ghats.

Well, it was very much open 10 days back when I brought home the Jeep. It had the usual Buses, trucks, cars and everything else. So, what is different?

Hippy. At last the trucks will spare further damage to the sullia madikeri roads.

@srishiva Even i got the same doubt. It would be great for everyone in case they do that. Also there seems to be a track which goes into the port.

Cant agree any better with spadival's post. With the mining lobby dude's back in power its just a matter of time before the road is back in shambles.

So the conclusion is that those who want to enjoy the shiradi ghat drive.. plan it soon before the monsoon and mining trucks cause damage again

Seriously, those heavy trucks and the rain, deadly combo for any road..

I heard some of the new ministers took oath in the name of Mining lord instead of god. Now god save our roads, but can he...

Well i have read it too and was not surprised
I guess we really cant help it as all the contestants from the region are into mining. A rail connecting both these regions will really help. No other alternatives for this

Mysore-Madikeri-Sullya-Puttur-Mangalore

Heard Mysore-Kushalnagar is ok. but beyond not not good. Madikeri-Sullya-Puttur is not worth exploring since the road has not been repaired since the last monsoon.

Hassan - Sakaleshpur-Mangalore via Shiradi Ghat rood is good. Not sure about Mysore-Hassan road.

Second option looks like worth exploring. Have a safe & nice trip.

Take the Mysore- Hassan- Shiradi Ghat-Mangalore route. I had taken the Bangalore-Hassan-Shiradi Ghat-Mangalore, road 2 weeks back, Its good.

OTOH The road from Kushalnagar is bad (though it is patched till Madikeri) but the road from madikeri via puttur to mangalore is not there.
