Re: Gurgaon to Bangalore

Hello Friends,

I did the road trip from Gurgaon, Sec 42, Golf course road to Bangalore Bannerghatta road in my petrol Wagon R VXI, single driver. I started my journey on 20 April 2015, Monday at 5 AM IST and reached home in Bangalore on 21 April 2015 Tuesday around 11 PM IST. I filled approx. 130 litres of Petrol with half a tank approx. in the car now after the trip. I paid approx. 2600 INR as toll. total Kms travelled 2113.

As a single driver I took NO notes, NO photos, therefore what I have shared below is purely from memory after a week. So pls bear with a few inconsistencies.

I took the Gurgaon Faridabad toll road, entered Faridabad and joined the Mathura Highway towards Agra, after Mathura refinery approx. 20 kms at/before Sikandra took a right to Dholpur, this is called the Agra By pass, encountered 2 manually railway level crossings, waited in one for approx. 20 mts for 2 trains to pass, NO Over bridge on these 2 crossings. Smooth 2 lane road reached Dholpur, then proceed to Morena, Used the Gwalior by pass, roads from Gwalior to Jhansi good but with road repairs /extensions few diversions. IMP : The Chambal bridge is very bad stretch for road condition. Reached Jhansi around noon took the east west corridor the lalitpur / Shivpuri proceeded towards Sagar, one of the excellent tolled routes, a bit scary at least because hardly an traffic, atleast I did not see any civilization, the first time in this trip I did 3 digit speeds. Reached Sagar at approx. 4 pm proceed towards Lakhnadon and Seoni at 5 pm after a break. At around 9 pm after 970 kms approx. / 16 hrs of driving I took a break at Motel centre point, Seoni. OK types for a night.

Day 2: Tuesday left the motel at 6 AM IST proceeded towards Peench National park, proceed towards Nagpur took the Nagpur by pass at Kamptee used ORR went thro Buti bori proceeded towards the famous Hinganghat and Pandarkawada, few metres of very bad road in Hinganghat at the approach of the level crossing, some fly over/bridge under construction... bad sections at Pandarkawada, I was waiting/praying for Adilabad few kms before Adilabad the NH7 transforms into a beauty from there on till Medchal phenomenal road. reached Medchal at 3 pm IST approx. tanked up at the IOC bunk right turn from NH7 to ORR HYD very bad 1/2 km stretch on entering the ORR for the next 68 kms approx I was doing 130 kms per hour speed exited ORR at approx. 4 PM or before 4 pm and started to face the HYD traffic on NH 7 towards Bangalore, reached Devanahalli toll at approx. 10 PM IST and reached home at approx. 11 PM IST.

Summary out of the whole 2000+ kms I would say max 3- 5 kms of bad roads /Axle breakers extreme caution to be exercised. Watch out for nuts on the extreme right lane on your lane, traffic coming towards you especially motorcycles and tractors.

I thank the Almighty and family for my safe trip back home, for an incident free/ uneventful trip.

Great update. Especially the points on:

- Agra bypass. Is this the ring road that you were referring to?
- And the fact that Jhansi-Lalitpur-Sagar is brilliant is also a great point.
- Did you take the Sagar-Narisinghpur-Lakhnadon or you went via Jabalpur.
- If Narsinghpur, then how was this section?
- Once you are at Narsinghpur, you can also Narsinghpur-Chindwara-Nagpur. -
- Brilliant roads as per member rkhare.

Hi Sanjeev..
Fantastic to read about your drive and the detailed note. We did Gurgaon to Chennai and back in March but took a different route. Going to Chennai via Greater Noida Expressway to Agra, Dholpur, Morena, Gwalior bypass, Lalithpur, Malthone, Vidhisha, Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Itarsi, Betul, Nagpur, Adilabad, Nirmal, Medchal, Hyderabad, Kurnool, Gooty, Bangalore, Hosur, Krishnagiri, Ambur, Ranipet, and then Chennai. Return journey we drove from Chennai to Hyderabad directly and then followed the same route as above to Gurgaon.

We will be doing Gurgaon to Chennai again in June but would not go through Bhopal and would prefer to go to Nagpur via your route. Am happy to note that the Sagar to Nagpur route is good. We were unsure about the Lalitpur to Sagar and then the Seoni route to Nagpur.

Wanted to know the route from Sagar to Betul if any and the road conditions between Sagar and Betul. Also, as I travel with my wife and mother in law (70 years young), are there any good hotels in Sagar or Seoni to stay? Thanks.

Hotel Deepali, Sagar. We walked into the hotel at 7:30 pm totally exhausted after a marathon drive without prior reservation and got a triple bed room.
