Haven't been stopped yet for that. Fingers crossed. If they catch for any other violation, you end up paying for all the old ones.

I have to make a quick road trip to Hyderabad from Bangalore on July 5th, returning July 7th. I had read somewhere that an e-pass is required for Telangana, but the information is somewhat dated. Is that still the case, has anyone made a trip recently?

Tried to go to the TS police website to apply for an e-pass (https://policeportal.tspolice.gov.in) but it doesn't seem to be working.

Any latest guidance/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The e-pass requirement for Telangana has been done away with. You would not need an e-pass to enter Telangana now.

Planning to travel to Hyderabad from Bangalore on 2nd Jul (Friday) evening and returning back on 5th Jul. It will be a leisure trip with family in Baleno.
Please confirm if there is any requirement to apply for any special pass to cross any of the states or entering Telangana/Hyderabad or while coming back. Also how much time is it taking on an average to travel between these 2 cities now a days.

Airport to Airport takes about 6 hours, average, between the two cities.

This is when driving with a light foot and also counting for one small break.

No e pass required to enter A.P and Telangana. However A.P has night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am, so avoid travel during that period.

Airport to airport appears to be a total distance of roughly 530 kms and drive time of close to 9 hours. Is the 6 hours that your quoted a typo? Or is there some other route that you are talking about ?

Google says 9hrs but can be done between 6 to 8 hrs depending on the driving speeds and stops in between

He is right. It takes 6-7 hours depending on the traffic you might encounter on the highway and tolls.

Maintain speeds around 100-110kmph throughout and you end up with an average speed of 75-80kmph.

This was during my last trip. Started from Bellandur at 4:30AM and was on the Hyderabad ORR at 11:10AM. It includes two small breaks too.

It is possible Arindam. I’ve left at 4 am and have managed to reach Hyd airport road by 10.30 or so, with just a 15 m coffee break.

It’s a very boring and dry and straight highway as well, you don’t see many places that tempt you to take a halt.

This was surprising to me also when I travelled the first time in this route September last year. I assumed it to take at least 8 hours considering it's not a 6 lane one but managed to reach Shamshabad in ~7 hours. I think once the few diversions around Kurnool is sorted out, we can expect further reduction in time.

Yeah, it took me 7 hours from door to door a couple of years ago. Started from Leela Palace area at 530 am and reached home at Raj Bhavan Road at 1230 pm. This was with a 20 minute breakfast halt at Kasepalli and a 10-minute fuel stop after Kurnool.

It is a boring highway, and the only way to stay awake is driving fast.

Is an early morning start during weekend curfew in Bangalore possible now? Anyone tried traveling from Bangalore to Hyderabad during the weekend recently?

I completed a Bangalore - Hyderabad drive yesterday. I left by around 5:30 from South Bangalore and reached the old airport road area by 1:30PM.

Please note that the 2nd diversion in Kurnool really had us jumping & swaying.

There was less traffic on the highway, with the traffic only picking up in the last 100kms before Hyderabad, with increasing trucks, autos and 2 wheelers traffic.

I got one speeding ticket, just after crossing the AP-Telangana border, which was updated online (no jumping in front of the car business a-la Bangalore).
