Traveling Bangalore to Hyderabad on 31 Dec '19. While googling for Hyderabad to Srisailam I was surprised to find a comment on road closures on NH44. Is there an issue on NH 44 of late? would appreciate any update

Did this stretch over the weekend.

Started very late at 7:30pm due to social commitments as against my usual time of 4pm.

As usual the stretch till Kurnool is quite crowded. There are two diversions en-route and they are quite well marked.

I stopped for late snacks at Hotel Suraj Grand at 10 pm, Sad to say,but the washrooms are no longer usable by the fair sex at this place.
Just outside Kurnool is a place called Hangout and the property seems quite clean, I just used the table there without tasting their food items so cant comment on the quality.
Also, on the way I saw a Cat (XJL) accelerate. I never have seen such a massive barge go full beans on a Public highway( where you have reference of other vehicles). I can say for sure the person was doing 120+ in the imperial way and the others were trying to reach 120 in the metric way.

The stretch before Pamidi for ~60 kms is newly laid out with no markings and divisions betwixt lanes. Users are cautioned to choose a viable reference ( choose the left edge of the road) while using imaginary lanes as the dividers are at angles in places where they assist for safer U turns.

I keep discovering new speed breakers inside AP limits every time I make a run.
Happy to report that this time some speedbreakers have been tarred over(so 2 less than previous month).
Their total count is 43 on Hyd-Blr stretch and 41 on Blr-Hyd stretch.

Regards,

Dear Mods, Is there a provision to upload videos directly to the site? As otherwise I would have to create a Youtube account and link up the same.

I recently traveled on this route from Bangalore - Hyderabad and then back. Since I was travelling after a long time on this route I had prepared a list of eateries based on google reviews.

May be of some help for people who travel on this route. The distance mentioned is relative to my house in Electronics city.

NH7 Refuel, Devanahalli ~ 57 km
Indian Paratha Company, Devanahalli ~ 57 km
Nandi Upachar, Devanahalli ~ 58 km (Personal experience - good food, clean washrooms, limited parking)
Hyderabad Chefs, Anantapur ~ 233 km
Hotel Blue Moon Highway Foodcourt ~ 272 km (Personal experience - good food, clean washrooms, ample parking)
Matsya Amazon Kitchens, Kurnool Road ~ 346 km
Food Pyramid, Kanimetta ~ 458 km (Personal experience - good food, clean washrooms, ample parking)
Hotel 97, Pothulamadugu ~ 489 km
Sandarshini Udupi Pure Veg Restaurant, Jadcherla ~ 504 km (Personal experience - good food, clean washrooms, limited parking but can be accomodated)

Did a Bangalore-Hyderabad drive last Friday.

The only major update to report is that the nonsensical speed breakers near Lepakshi turn-off on both directions have been removed. As if to compensate for this loss, new speed breakers have come up between Anantapur and Kurnool without signages. So drive carefully in AP. Post Kurnool, the road is terrific, devoid of such interruptions and you can constantly hit 3 digit speeds.

I had traveled last weekend Hyderabad to Banglore and back .
It a special and satisfying experience after this Corona virus scare.

Short History - I have been travelling this road for the past 27 years. Hyderabad to Banglore was a dual carriage way upto Anantapur and from there to Bagepalli it was a single road and if an oncoming vehicle u have to take the mud filled shoulder of the road.I used to take 11 to 12 hrs to travel the distance and the regular RTC buses used to take 14 hrs.

Recent travel road Conditions. Excellent throughout.
Except for the speed breakers mence.at certain intersections at Kia Motors between Penukonda and Ammavaripalli.
Between Anantapur and Pamidi towns.

The Fast Tag works like charm and obsolutely no issues.
The special part was I could do up and down within 12 hrs .
It was done with my son sharing the wheels.
Due to Corona scare had to pick my daughter from Banglore.

Over the years how we have progressed to good infrastucture and toll systems is amazing..
I saved on my toll charges too as I completed the journey within 24 hrs.
Just shared my thoughts..

Has anyone traveled from Hyderabad to Bengaluru during this lockdown, especially after KA has closed the border and created specific entry points?

Anything to look out for in the route? Also is there any change in the route from Hyderabad due to the restricted entry points into KA?

Thanks in advance!

I traveled to Hosur from Hyderabad on 8th May.

Had a pass issued by DC and not an E-Pass as the E-Pass site didn't work.

Was harassed at AP border by the DSP and humiliated that he wouldn't let me cross since it was DC approval and not DGP approval even if it was for my own father's funeral, let alone my uncle's(father's elder brother).

Karnataka was a breeze as they let me go post checking my pass and temperature. Was checked twice again till I reached Bagalur border and there the TN Police asked for my medical certificate initially but let me go. This was at 4 am.

I have got the pass to travel back from Hosur to Hyderabad on Friday.
I will have to pass Bangalore on the way.

One question I have is that KA govt is not allowing anyone to enter from Tamilnadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Is this applicable for folks passing Karnataka as well? Any inputs here?

Sorry to hear about your loss and your bad experience at the AP border. They don't create trouble if you are carrying a valid pass for a different destination state. So, I hope your return journey will be uneventful.

I don't have experience of passing through Karnataka but having a valid pass to return to Hyderabad should be enough to pass through Bangalore. Please carry an address proof of your Hyderabad residence to show the authorities where you are headed. Few of them are asking for this proof before they allow you to move on.

Sorry to hear about the loss in your family. May his soul rest in peace.

As per news yesterday, Karnataka CM said they will not let any travellers from TN , Guj and MH except under special circumstances. So I'm not sure if your e pass can make you sail through bangalore without any hiccups.

As a plan B , since you're in Hosur , you can look to enter AP without touching KA. I'm not sure about the optimal route but a quick glance at google maps indicate it's possible , but with a long detour.

May be krishnagiri - Vellore - Chittoor- Hyd. There could be a shorter route too but just ensure it doesn't touch Karnataka.

Thanks for the condolences!

I undertook the journey yesterday and was allowed at all borders without any challenges, thanks to the valid E-Pass.

Took a total of 11 hours to reach with breakfast, lunch, coffee(homemade in flash) and border checkpost breaks.

Started at 7:50 am and reached home at 6:45 pm.

For the first time, went through main Bangalore city instead of outer ring road and reached Nandi Upachar by 9:30 am. Food is available there for parcel and takeaway though they are allowing golds to stand and eat too.

Reached Telangana border part Kurnool by 2:25 pm.

One problem people, especially ladies, would face is the lack of toilets. Even the toilet complexes at toll plazas are locked. What’s the point of having them if it’s gonna be locked especially in the situation where every thing is closed and this is the time these things should be open, not only for public but also for the police and other government officials at the check posts.

Paid only 65 Rs toll at Jadcherla as all the rest accepted my father’s retired defence officer card and let us go! :)

No hotels / restaurants are open yet on the highway and any one traveling on highway should consider taking food from home packed.

How much time it took to clear the border check post? Was there a big queue?

I traveled on May 14. While coming from Hyderabad, I was stopped first just before entering Kurnool, the AP checkpost. Took me 10 mins at max to show my e-pass and move on.

Next stop was Bagepalli toll-plaza. The Health officials and Nodal officer have set up office right after the toll plaza, on the left. I was asked to fill in couple of forms. Temperature check was done and then my hand was stamped. Then I was informed that Police will escort my car to Sadahalli check post (just after the Devanahalli toll plaza).

As per their SOP, once 5-6 vehicles had piled up and completed all formalities, a Police escort vehicle was assigned who will lead the troupe to the next check-post. This is where I was stuck as I was the first vehicle to reach and had to wait close to two hours before another 5-6 vehicles had arrived and were ready.

Next, a RTO vehicle led 7 cars till the Sadahalli check post and it took us slightly more than an hour. Once there, one person from each car was asked to join a queue of people who were waiting for some more paper work and another round of temperature check. There were around 15 people in the line ahead of me and it took me another 30-40 mins before my turn came. Got my documents verified, temperature checked and was asked to proceed for home quarantine.

KA has been changing their quarantine SOPs frequently and I am not sure if the above process is still valid.

Anyone travelled from Bangalore to Hyderabad recently?

Telengana has lifted all inter-state travel restrictions and are no longer issuing epass. The problem is I need to transit through Andhra Pradesh, there is nothing like a transit e-pass for Andhra. You have to get an e-pass on Spandana to enter Andhra it appears. Applying for e-pass on Spandana requires you to supply an Andhra address.

I drove to Hyderabad today, started around 6.00 am. Traffic was light in Bangalore but Highway traffic was as usual, plenty of two wheelers too. We got the ePass from Sindhu seva, the police at the checkpoint asked to see the address on adhaar card and waved us through. They are basically confirming the Hyderabad address on Adhaar card. No further check points anywhere.

Wayside restaurants have not full opened but the towns are buzzing with activity.

Do we need to apply for any pass for AP when traveling between BLR-HYD? Understand that no pass is needed for entering Telangana. We are also thinking about driving via Raichur to avoid the hassles of applying passes for driving thru AP.
