Sounds like a good idea! We are going to be there between Dec 22 and Jan 2, give or take a couple of days.

Anybody else wants to "chill" out with us?

I have almost convinced my wife for a road trip but she is not comfortable with the fact that it is just the two of us on such a long trip.

If anyone wants to accompany us in our car as a driver/passenger or in another car please do let us know. Luggage space will be a bit limited but we can drop you anywhere along Nagpur, Bhopal, Agra, Noida, Shimla route. We are planning to start on Dec 20th early morning but our dates are flexible.

The other option is to transport the car to Delhi. Will it be risky? Does anybody know of any good car carrier services in Hyderabad?

There could be reasons. If she is not comfortable then don't take chance driving down.

The Nagpur bhopal stretch through mp is notorious for dacoits and crime. I suggest you listen to your wife, and plan a driving trip later.
Anyways, my plans stand cancelled, I get only one leave and Manali may be tough, so its either shoja or Narkanda... Decisions... Decisions

About transporting vehicles check at local Maruti or Honda dealers. Since the trucks transporting incoming vehicles are usually returning empty they can give you best deals. However (and when there is not one) be aware that in case of Maruti trucks they will drop vehicle somewhere near Gurgaon. So make sure both you and tranporter are clear about this.
Should be reasonable safe as they are also transporting new vehicles in same. I know some guys have been using this method for transporting their rally vehicles to Delhi for the Desert Storm or Himalayan Raid.

Thanks for that info sudev!

I was almost decided until you guys confused me again. Maybe I will take your advise and plan for a driving trip later. In that case I need to book my tickets in another day or two.

@tsk1979, don't tell me you were planning to drive to Manali through Jalori pass!

I was planning to go to Manali, spend 3 days, and then go to Jalori for couple of days. Now it seems I will just hit Jalori pass area, and skip manali.

Well, driving gives a sense of control and freedom!

I listened to my wife and booked tickets to Delhi from Dec 20 to Jan 4. Rest is unplanned. If there is any TBHP HP meet let us know beforehand since we may not be accessing internet.

No comments on that! Actually wife is pretty supportive and we have already done couple of long trips in the last one year. But a 4000+ km trip does seem a little daunting, unless you happen to be hvkumar or sudev! :-/
