GQ Drive: Christmas - New Year's Eve

We have planned a GQ drive over 6 days. The drive will commence from Bangalore on Christmas (25 December 2008 / Thursday) morning and end at Bangalore on 30 / 31 December.

2 vehicles will be doing this drive - a Safari from Bangalore (hrag) & a Scorpio from Thane (hvkumar)

The plan is as follows:

25th: Bangalore - Bombay 1019 km
26th: Bombay - Behror 1357 km
27th: Behror - Delhi - Varanasi 888 km
28th: Varanasi - Calcutta - Bhubaneswar 855 km
29th: Bhubaneswar - Nellore 1117 km
30th: Nellore - Bangalore 502 km

Following passenger seats are available:
Safari - 1
Scorpio - 3

People interested in joining us may please contact hvkumar / khan_sultan / hrag.

We will start from Bangalore (Hebbal) at 6 am on 25th - this will not change under any circumstance.

The anticipated cost per person is approximately INR 15000 (includes fuel / food / stay etc.)

The plan posted above is final and will not change.

Note: This is not a meet drive. This is just a drive.

Is this with reference to GQ drive being discussed ?
I would like to obtain more details of plan and the planned overnight halts.
I would like to have one hour meet up at Vadodara, but if Vadodara is not planned for overnight halt and no place is available, then I think the Vadodara members can come to A'bad where they can also meet A'bad members.

I request you to post more details of overnight halts.

This is a 6D (6-Day) drive, and only for hard-core driving fans. We will have hardly any time for breaks and no time for any detours or sightseeing. As you can see from the drive plan, we are covering a minimum of 800 kms daily with targets of 1300 + on at least 1 day. Expect heavy fog in Delhi/UP region.

Lodging will be inexpensive, on as-and-where-is basis, no frills.

I will continue to Bombay on 31st, once the Bangalore team ends their trip there on 30th.

Hotel acco is fixed in New Bombay already.

Expect early start times of 3-5 am and end-of-days at 10-11 pm.

We are not setting any speed records here, but we are not a leisurely holiday neither.

We expect to drive through Delhi, Calcutta and Madras.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this mean that the planned break at A'bad is cancelled ?
Is the next overnight after Bombay going to be Jaipur ?

This is not the big drive, that is planned for Feb 09.
Our overnighters are flexible, we will stop based on day's progress and time limitations.
As of now, we plan overnight halts in Mumbai, Behror (RJ-HR border), Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Nellore and Bangalore.

The pace we want to be travelling, there is absolutely no time for any meets. As you can see, the time schedules are very tight and margins for time overruns minimal.

Thanks, Suman, as it stands now, if we do a textbook drive between Bombay and Behror, we hope to reach Delhi - not again sure thanks to the heavy fog - before 9 am. I stand corrected on the Iffco landmark reference.

Thank You Sir!
I was relieved out of tension.
I never wanted to miss an opportunity to meet others. So this is good news for me that the Feb 09 plan is not yet out.
Thank you Sir.

Cool, in that case, hope to meet you guys for Breakfast at Gurgaon on the 27th morning cheers:

Even if you're delayed, hope we can meet up for 5 minutes for a quick break (your schedule permitting, of course).

Yes. That would be great. If we can have authentic 'piping hot' chole bhature & chai from Delhi it would be great.

@suman: I am assuming that HVK/hrag have your numbers to ping you/coordinate this b-fast.

Cheers,

And, Suman, tell the weather Gods to keep off for 2-3 days, we don't want dense fog!

And Sultan, hot chole-bhature for breakfast?

Suman, our Delhi route will as follows: NH8 from Jaipur-Gurgaon-IG Airport-Munirka-Nehru Place-Kalkaji-Mathura Road-Badarpur-NH2 towards Agra.
