Hi,

Close to Udaipur, is there a tourist attraction that I must absolutely not miss? I looked up Mount Abu but looks like it will take up half a day to go and come back. Any other suggestions? I have about 6 hours of spare time in the trip

P.S: My car began to issue this thin wail from the front tires. I checked with the mechanic on the way and he said I should probably take it to Maruti Service center. This happened on the return leg yesterday. It was after crossing Nanded. I drove back to the city and the guy at the workshop immediately diagnosed brake pads wear-out. Got the new ones fixed (2000 rupees) and drove to Hyderabad by evening.

I think it was a cumulative effect of all the bad patches in this trip.

Sleepover in Aurangabad.

Hyderabad - Aurangabad - 9 hours (Started at 3 AM)
Aurangabad - Udaipur - 13 hours (started at 3 AM)

Udaipur - Aurangabad - 12 hours (started at 4 AM)
Aurangabad - Hyderabad - 10 hours (started at 7 AM)

Instead of starting a new thread, I found this one so thought I'd ask here -

We're moving back from hyderabad to Jaipur, driving our own car. Need some advice -

Between this route -

Hyderabad-Nagpur-Bhopal-Kota-Jaipur and
Hyderabad-Nagpur-Seoni-Lakhnandon-Sagar-Jhansi-Jaipur

Which one is 4 lane throughout?

Also, any hotel recommendations in Nagpur and Jhansi on the outskirts of the city?

Anyone? It's a self driven Wagon R (and will be loaded with significant amounts of luggage), hence a bit concerned.

Vaibhav,
I feel, Hyd >> Pune>> Ahmd>> Jaipur would be a better bet.
Especially when travelling with family.
I did this route back and forth from Pune and Jaipur.
Hyd - Pune many no.of times.

I suggest this route for the following reasons,
1. Safety,
2. Good roads,
3. Enough decent stay options.
4. Enough food options.

Open to Experts for further suggestions though.

Neither of them is fully 4 laned, but option 2 has more 4 lane roads compared option 1. In option 1 road from Betul to Kota is 2 lane road. Considering the road status and halt options available, you can go ahead with the option 2.

You can either stay at Buti bori (hotel mayur, royal regency) or goto nagpur (hotel peanut). If you start early from Nagpur, you can target Hotel deepali at Sagar for lunch.

I think Hyderabad - Nagpur- Indore -Jhalrapatan - Kota - Jaipur is the route you may like to take. It's longer than the Bhopal route by 50 odd kms, but roads between Indore and Kota are better than those between Bhopal and Kota.

I got to know from a friend here in Indore that the Nagpur Indore route is messed up. Hence we will likely take the Nagpur-Sagar route. Lets see how soon can i leave, waiting for movers to arrive (they are delayed by one hour already).

Better stay at butibori which is 20km before Nagpur. Because when you leave for Sagar, you dont have to enter Nagpur. Take the bypass at jamtha (butterfly junction) towards Jabalpur (Seoni). The bypass bypasses Kamptee -Kanhan which takes almost an hour to cross.
But if you are leaving from Hyd. you dont need to halt at Ngp because its only 6-7 hrs. unless you are leaving in the afternoon.

Very helpful Inder, will make a note of this. The reason for Nagpur halt is that it's a small car Wagon R and I will have parents + some large sized suitcases with me - will be lucky to average 60 kmph and top 80 kmph speed. I think Hyd-Nagpur will be a comfortable distance. I suspect I'd leave by 9 am or so. You think I can still overshoot nagpur? If so, where do I halt for the night?

Guys, I am tentatively planning to do my annual drive in December. This year wanted to do Rajasthan. However, I am looking at the below route,

hyderabad -> mhow -> udaipur -> mt. abu -> jaisalmer -> jodhpur -> ajmer -> jaipur -> bhilwara -> chittorgarh -> mhow -> hyderabad


Any inputs on the road conditions? In this stretch the Hyderabad->Mhow is a long hop (approx 856 kms). So I am keen to get some inputs on the doability of this stretch. Typically, I leave home at 4am. My thought is I should be able to reach Mhow by 7 pm latest or if the roads prove good may be even earlier.

Has anyone got any experience of this route? I have traveled to HP on the route Vaibhav traveled last month. And the horrendous stretches of Pench were enough for me to think of avoiding that stretch. Also, don't want to go to Delhi.

Hotel information for these places will also help.

Bit of a coincidence this route you're asking info on. It's a combination (for most part) of two of my different road journeys.

1. Hyderabad-Adilabad is supersmooth 300 kms. A few kms after that also route should be good till you approach pandharkawda.

2. The moment you get to pandharkawda, it will deteriorate significantly. After this, through Paratwada till Khandwa, no idea from my side. I dont expect a great road though (a neighbor mentioned this, she was driven from Hyde-Indore in her Honda city in August this year, I didnt ask the exact route taken but might be this?)

3. Khandwa-Mhow is smooth but two laned with village traffic in between. This stretch was done in 2013 early. Indore-Chittorgarh via Neemuch/badnawar is good road (quite a bit is 4 lane), also in 2013. Bad patches on Raj/MP border.
