Somewhere in an old TL I saw that there is a time restriction in this road to GS Betta now. Any idea ?

I think roads should be decent. (No current updates though). Surely Ritz can manage that road.

As Ampere said, the Road was in OK condition when I went there 6 months back. Ritz should easily manage.

Yes, there is. You will be stopped at the base of the hill if you reach early morning and will be allowed you to climb only after 6.30 or 7 A.M (depends on the lighting). Not sure about the timings they close.
There is a 24x7 CCD near Gundlupet (nearly 10 kms to GS Betta diversion, if you are coming from B'lore) where you can spend some time if you reach there early.

Did anybody visit Shivanasamudram recently? Do both Gaganachukki and Bharachukki have water now?

Was there on June 8th. Not much of water.

:OT The Planet X prices when compared to the recently opened Park Square mall in ITPL/Whitefield look extremely high. The kids play areas in Park Square is a blast with children and it costs very low. Even I race, when I am there. Lovely collection of racing games too. They also have a "return gift policy" based on the punchcards pushed out the machines, as you play.

BH.

Anybody been to Hogenakkal recently? Hows the road beyond Dharmapura? Since its not raining much, is the river bed / falls dry ?

The road condition all the way to Hogenakkal is very good. Dharmapuri-Pennagaram-Hogenakkal is a very decent road.

Dont know about how much water you can expect.

Would definitely recommend Shettihalli, Hassan for a days drive from Bangalore. Easily do-able in a day and excellent roads. 210kms in the distance one way , have documented the same in my t-log here.

Are there any other places which can be clubbed along with this place?

May be stay over at Hassan and come back the next day after seeing the rest.

Looking for lesser known places. Discounting the big ones.

Take a left and you can go over to Manjarabad fort in Sakleshpur and a right from Hassan takes you to chikmagalur.

You can also visit Gorur Dam which is visible from the church. It is a very good sight during late August, when they start releasing water. Not sure if that will happen this time because of the drought situation.

tomorrow being a holiday, a friend who recently purchased a camera wants to go for birding around Bangalore outskirts. I know of kaikondrahalli lake on Sarjapur Road. Any other good spots ? Please suggest in Sarjapur / Chikka Tirupathi area too.

Birds around Kaidkondrahalli lake? That lake has been destroyed by civilization. It used to be great 7-8 years back. For bird watching Heserghatta is a better place. The area is also quite scenic.
Another place is Turahalli.

Hi....Planning weekend to JLR at Bheemeshwari. Anyone been to Bheemeshwari lately? How are the roads from Bangalore to Bheemeshwari.

There are two routes used most often :

Bangalore -- Kanakpura -- Sathnur Junction -- Muttati -- Bheemeshwari

Bangalore -- Kanakpura -- Sathnur Junction -- Algor -- Bheemeshwari

Which one is preferable from distance as well as from road condition perspective. Am more concerned about road conditions.

cheers!
