While going from Tumkur to Whitefield, is it advisable to take the STRR from Dobaspet? Is the STRR section from Dobaspet ( turn off at NH-48 ) till Hoskote fully functional?

Yes. It's end to end functional. You are better off taking it!

I will be landing in KIAL ~ 16:00 and will be immediately driving to Chennai rather than first coming home to KR Puram only because Google Maps says it takes just 40 mins to join the NH75 post Hoskote via the STRR from T2.

Is this correct? It has taken me longer to cross Hoskote from my home let alone the 1+ hours it would take to come home from airport first.

I hope this stretch of the STRR is fully done and there are no surprises waiting. My family is strongly against driving down to Chennai directly after a long flight so I don't want to receive "told you sos" rl:

The STRR is fully done up. However, you need to initially head up the opposite side towards Devanahalli and would need to travel an extra 10 km. Considering the alternatives and the fact that it is peak traffic period this route is still worth it.

Yes this is fully done. From the airport drive towards Devanahalli/Hyd (and not Hebbal). You will the STRR cross at Nandi hill crossing. Turn right towards Hoskote and you directly drive non-stop to Hoskote interchange and there on you are on the Old Madras Road to Kolar.

Happened to use STRR recently for travel from OMR/Baiyappanahalli towards Hyderabad. Normally I used to take the Budigere road to join Devanahalli via KR Puram. STRR while going in the morning was okay, but return to Hoskote was a mess with bad markings (I got down previous exit as it was marked Hoskote). You need to look for exit to Tirupati/Blr to get down the right exit.

And while going to Devenahalli, same issue with markings, you may get confused first time. And the exit joins the main road where you need to take U turn if you have to go towards Hyderabad

And some teething issues with toll. While returning, there was an issue with toll mechanism and ended up waiting, and the staff were frustrated with piling up traffic that they let me go for free and there was a good 10-15 mins wait I guess because no vehicle came behind for quite a while, even though I was at 80ish speed

KRDCL is a hopeless incompetent understaffed organization and now held hostage to the 5 guarantees. Wish NHAI takes over and completes their pending projects.

People should just see the unfinished parts of the Bellary Road (SMVIT junction) - Rajanukunte - Kakolu section which has the ability to decongest the local areas. Total work stoppage since the the current political groups took over in KA. Complete shambles!

A recent development I noticed this week - the STRR ramp towards Bangalore city (KR Puram) when coming from Devanahalli is now open, so there’s no need to take the exit towards Kolar and make a U turn near Paakashala clap:

Saw this in yesterday’s newspaper:
The compensation for land acquired has not yet been fully paid and is probably one of the main reasons why the western portion of the STRR around Ramanagara, Harohalli, etc is held up.

Recently I used the Hoskote-Devanahalli section of STRR, but instead of returning via Airport Road-Hebbal, I took the SH104 exit from STRR that goes inside Devanahalli and connects back to Old Madras road via Budigere and Mandur. This route has a few places where work is in progress but in the final stages and since it connects back before Hoskote toll, one can avoid that traffic. Also noticed that Budigere village now has a new bypass that is ready and some vehicles using it, but officially isn’t open yet, there are some barricades on one side.

Thanks, if its not too much trouble, do you mind sharing the maps link of the route you mentioned?

Is there any news on this railway crossing for Hoskote-Hosur section?

Last I know of was some land acquisition pending for this. Without this, this section is a non starter. SH-35/Sarjapura Road users will continue to face heavy vehicle traffic.

One more section of Bengaluru Satellite Town Ring Road to open by March 2025

This is good to see. Although from some videos I saw, it looked like the KA-TN Border to NH544 seemed to be closer to being ready. Also, good to hear that work has started on the Railway overbridge. Completion in 6 months looks highly optimistic though.

Some time back there was a buzz of a December 2024 opening. So what this is saying is that there is a delay of 3 months.
