Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Hi there bumping up an old thread.

Planning a trip to Goa in late Oct.

We are 4 adults + 1 kid + 1 toddler.

We were wondering if there are any good homestays that teambhpians would recommend from personal experience.

Something that is accessible to a super market / pharmacy etc so that we don't have to run around for emergencies. And also not too far from the beach. The advantage would be that we can make the toddlers food at the homestay.

The other option is to stay at a hotel / resort that is child friendly. So if you have any suggestions for good walking distance to beach resorts that are not 5 star expensive - please suggest as well.

Thank you in advance

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Are Uber or Ola available in Goa? If I arrive in North Goa Airport, what is the most economical way to get from the airport to Baga Beach? Is there a bike rental service near the airport?

A friend who used to study in Goa suggested that Bus would be the most economical way from the airport. Apart from that local Taxi fare would be ₹1500/- as per him. There is a Car rental service available at the airport which you can rent and drop while going back.

No they are not. Depending on your budget the options are
1. Bus - But it would not take you to your hotel, only to the bus stand, or nearest bus stop.
2. Car rental from the airport. Never availed, so don’t know how they are.
3. I always take this. Hotel arranged pick up. May cost a few hundred bucks more but I don’t have the hassle of haggling, arranging etc. The hotel provides the car details and it takes me directly to the hotel. Many times I chat up with the driver and use his car for local tours and sightseeing throughout the trip. Also many hotels have free bus pick up from the airport. On the flip side you have to wait in that bus for sometime
4. Till my last visit a year back, I did not notice any bike service from airport.

Would suggest that you rent a car from Vailankanni Auto Hires/Goa Cars.
They have got something for everyone.

Thanks, buddy! I'll definitely check it out. I headed to the Kerala side for the weekend this time, so I'll give it a shot next time.
