I have a budget of Rs8-10lakh, not too much stretchable.
Request you guys to please suggest a car based on your experience. I am currently considering Honda City, Innova and SX4. What are your opinions.

Regards,

Go for the SX4 ZXi. That is the first choice I think on TBHP. That being said, what are you looking at from the car?

hey prasygreat,
If you have a budget of 10 lakhs the Corolla and the Lancer are good bets too. the lancer cedia is a well built car and it comes with all the safety features and decent power. U may wanna check on the maintenence though.

i wish i had a budget like that!!! anyway day-dreaming aside...... whatever your requirements are between the 8-10L bracket i dont see beyond an SX4 as far as value is concerned. all the toys u get for your money are truly amazing!

having said that the mitsu cedia isn't bad either. i didn't exactly like this car until a fellow architect from b'lore let me drive one.

if you have the Innova in the options, its the Best Allrounder!!
next will be the SX4, then the Corrola is a fantastic VFM

All wrong choices IMO I'd look at a Corolla, Cedia and Optra in that order .... 8-10 lakhs is D-seg territory I think.

Go for Corolla. No debate it is much better car than any one in its category ( though it might ruffle some feathers but i think it is even better than Civic)

Between the options:
* Honda City - comfort, ease of driving, slightly better FE
* Innova - 7/8 seater
* SX4 - VFM (value for money) package with ABS, airbags

Other options (my choices in order):
1. Safari - SUV, comfort
2. Fiesta diesel - diesel, economy
3. Verna diesel - diesel, power
4. Aveo - VFM
5. Chevy SRV - looks

8-10 budget

I would suggest Corolla Executive - a D segment car in the price range of C plus. it is a bigger and better car - tested and tried

If you can stretch it to 10 lakhs then you deserve a good car and I think Corolla HE may not be a good option since at 10L, you will get a stripped down Corolla. Best to go for at least H2 Corolla/H3 (in automatic) which would be close to 11-11.5. Since I prefer ride and driving comfort and am conservative, my choices is only one:

1. Innova. Why? Pperhaps the best ride comfort and leg space for `cars' : must have better ride comfort and more leg space than Accord, Camry,
Corolla, Sonata, Skoda, City, Optra, etc.

Other Innova and Toyota virtues need no further elaboration. Of course, it is not a car, but is pretty zippy in normal traffic, so do not be worried about driving a truck in a jam.

You have not mentioned your usage - Self driven or driver driven, size of the family, City or Highway drive, what are you looking from the car like power and peppiness or good service and low cost maintenance etc...
However my recommendations in the order
1. SX4 Zxi
2. Verna CRDi
3. Chevy SRV
4. Honda City Zx Gxi
5. Fiesta 1.6 SXi

Go in for SX4 - I think most TBHPians would agree with me?

The Optra 1.6 is the best bet. D class interiors, excellent ride , responsive engine, most comfortable back seat and all for 7.5 lakhs
