RE: Which one @ 12-13lac

I join in a bit late. went through the entire thread from first page onwards with the story developing and had a feeling you would end up with the Civic.

Congratulations. Good buy.

Show off with a Civic or wait for Jetta/New Corolla?

Gentlemen,
I have a dilemma of a different kind. Hope you guys can help me out.

I am looking out for a 1.8L car. I have test driven the Civic. We have a marriage coming up in our family end of March. My tricky situation is whether to show off with the Civic in the marriage or wait for the Jetta or the New Corolla to be released in the market? Of course the Jetta is going to be a 1.6L. Still I am okay with it due to German Engineering.
I have to take a decision before end of Feb. Someone bail me out

If you were planning to show off with 4L V8 then perhaps I could see the point but I am not able to comprehend the fascination with cubic capacity when we are talking between 1.6L and 1.8L.

Regardless of the cubic capacity, I would say go for Civic. I will be surprised if Corolla can look half as cool as Civic when released. About Jetta, is it going to be released anytime soon ?

Corolla is not going to be released in Feb/March. Jetta not in the near future. So unless you want to buy a generation old Corolla, its the Civic for you. Unless you want to wait till 2nd half of this year for the Corolla.

Hi, Sorry - was out on a 2 week tour. Thank you all for your suggestions and advise. Had taken delivery of my Civic 1.8V this week. It feels smooth and have not hit any bumpers yet...

Congrats MG1558 on your new Civic!!! Can you confirm if you got the 2008 manufactured model? Dakshin Honda confirmed that they will get the stock of 2008 by end of feb.
Also can you please reveal the discount you were offered? Thank you.

Quick advice needed!!! Folks, I want a 2008 model Civic and the dealer says that they had a meeting this morning and they decided that they can book the car and deliver it by this month end. Can I trust them? What if they don't deliver the car as promised? Have any of you faced such a problem with Honda?

Dealers are notorious and often dont keep up to their word. Just put conditions on it that if delivery is not delivered by month end you will get some freebie or discounts. Thats the most you can do i guess.

If you're being asked to put some money down for the booking then ask them for a written commitment on their letter head regarding the delivery date. This is what I'd done recently with a Ford dealer to ensure that a 2008 Endeavour was delivered to us on time (it was a gift for my friend from his parents on his marriage, hence timely delivery was critical) and sure enough the dealer delivered the truck two days before the committed date!
