Its all wishfull thinking, at present I would just like to concentrate on Corolla Altis 2009.

The only thing I didn't like was the wood finished interiors. Is there a way to get rid of them? And one more question what else could I add to the car after purchase.

I would suggest you TD the Altis and then decide on the car you want.
nickatnite had been to the preview of the Altis in Chennai - might have some info for you.

The sales of the Civic have gone down like crazy. Is it because potential customers are waiting to checkout the Altis ?

OT:
Well that could be one reason. The other could be the discontinuation of Civic S model. The gap between E& V Versions of Civic has to be filled

@ Spadival.

Post few Altis TD reviews the Altis vs Civic debate will become more meaningful.
On feature level comparison Altis G (base version) is equatable to Civic 1.8V (both MT). In fact Altis got few more ,though minor ones for some. And Altis is a good 1.5 lakhs cheaper at Mumbai OTR prices.

The torque/mileage/ride quality/NVH etc will be know once driven.

All in all good for Indian car lovers.

Civic is a better drivers car, Altis still hasn't matched upto Civic in terms of looks, interiors & drive. And the paddle shifts just blow the Altis away.

If you can wait, you could have a facelifted Cedia which looks more like the EVO9 instead of a the EVO8.

Hey Ym-enjn,

From my impressions of driving the new corolla (US version) 2 months back the car has improved a lot, the steering fails to connect with the driver but other then that I couldnt find anything wrong with it. I also took a look at the indian version at a mall yesterday and the equipment list is going to keep it competitive with the civic. Adding to that its bigger and more comfortable than the civic (rear leg room and seats compared).

Finally after owning a corolla for 4 years now and 2 honda's over the span of 11 years, I am a firm believer that Toyota's built quality is bullet proof and is better then honda.
(Ps: Honda fans don't start with the hate mail.I am a huge honda fan myself and have kept my 98 city for that very reason. I am giving an honest opinion about my personal experience. Both brands are top notch and excel in their relative expertise)

So my verdict would be if you are looking for a luxurious car with tonnes of features and reliable built quality to use in the city/highway. Corolla is the way to go.

Mine is the same as well. I was talking to the staff in the Altis demo zone in City Center, Chennai and they were saying this is nothing but a 'baby Camry' in terms of the looks.

Perfectly put... Thats the way it looks.

The look is neither Camry's sharp-edged futuristic nor Corolla's rounded version that is in India. To me, it cannot beat the Civic's space-age looks - interior and exterior. Other than that, I think it cannot do anything more than what the old corolla did.

If I were you, I would take everyone's suggestions and then schedule a TD of both the short listed cars on the same day. Give enough TD time on both and then decide, how you feel in the car.
