Yes manishalive, thats a problem that has been reported in the past too (despite remote thumbnailer being turned on). I'll bring it up with the devs again.

I'm going to push harder for this one to be added, since its by far the most requested feature!

Oh! Think I got it!

I just set the image quality to low and remote thumbnailer to checked.

Sorry for jumping the gun here :-(

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

There was an update available in the market place, I did the install.

The version now is 1.3.18, my android version is 4.0.3.

Since this update I have been unable to use the application and it never goes beyond the "contacting remote Site"

Is that some thing to do with the update or is it my device issue.

Most likely a device issue. Even I updated and it's working fine. Try re installing the app, might help.

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

Hi, I tried to access Team BHP on my Google Nexus 7 tab thru Tapatalk HD but it didn't show up in TT's search.
Is there a way to use Tapatalk to browse & post?
TIA.

hi rehaan and other mods,

i have to tell you guys this, our website especially the new look home page is rocking and I am in love with it.
but I find our team bhp apps as appalling in nature. I have been using the android app for almost an year on my htc desire, and since in my town 3G network is not very strong I always blamed it on my network for the slow nature of the app, including taking forever to load images. I got my ipad4 in the month of jan and our app is one of the first few I had downloaded, most of the time I use my home broadband to access Internet on my ipad and I notice no improvement in the usability of the app.
It is my humble request to rework our app and make it more user friendly and good on the eye and not so boring. Also if it takes lot of money to develop a completely new app, we could set a $2 or so price point for the app. by the way how come there is no ad on the ipad app?

sorry for the long whining post, but I had to say what I got to say.

thanks,
D.

Turn on the "Remote Thumbnailer" feature in the settings. This should speed up image loading in most cases.

With the huge shift to mobile browsing, I'm sure a rework of the app is inevitable. The question is "when". At the moment, we don't have any immediate plans for it since we have a few other things to focus on right now.

The app is plain irritating when viewing images even with the remote thumbnailer on, irrespective of how much ever bandwidth I have.

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

Image loading has become better with my phone at least. But I think the following needs resolution:
  1. Suppose there are 20 images in a post or a thread. I click on the (first) image and the screen switches to the ribbon (on top) and the image loads in a few seconds. If I wish to see other image(s) I scroll the ribbon and click on some image and so on. Then I return to the thread, read a few more posts and want to see an image. I click on it and it takes me back to the ribbon but I must start all over from the beginning! In this process one loses track of which image one wanted to see. It becomes quite a bother for posts with multiple images on each page (travelogues).
  2. I've also noticed that the no. of posts per page is different in the web version and the android mobile app version. The mobile version has fewer pages. So a post that has some "update on page so and so" becomes misleading in the mobile version.
