Re: Lego Technic

Got this one as a gift and I did not know what to expect out of this but what an experience this has been. The way small pieces fit in each other, the way the whole things take shape, you could literally see everything coming together. Now I understand why people are so addicted to this.

So I have tried to do what you mentioned, I met one of my school friends earlier in Dubai this year, reached out to him and asked him if he can buy a Lego technic and courier it out. I’m sure the courier isn’t going to be cheap, but there was just no alternative. Hope he is able to do this.

If yes, recommended Funstation.in . I used them a lot when my older one was into Legos. Obviously it works out more expensive than ownership in the long term but was fun giving my son an expensive set for a month which I wouldn't have bought otherwise due to high cost, his evolving interests and Bombay per square feet rates !
Interesting concept, I did have a look, but it seemed rather expensive to rent and also being its 10th birthday, there had to be a new gift since this is the only one for his birthday I wasn’t sure if renting one was the right call. Will surely try it out for another day though.

This time around it was dad / son activity but he was pretty much leading the charge on all fronts. I was the non-essential 'helper' in the build. Pics below.

I just love the time we spend during these builds though. Great fun.

Re: Lego Technic

Christmas came early this year!

Picked up these two beauties (M1000 RR and Panigale V4R) over the weekend from Istanbul Airport. I just love the Lego store at the Istanbul airport specially for their spectacular collection of the Technic range. Not sure when exactly I’ll pull out the time to build these out with the kiddo though - hopefully within the next few months.

I’d love to make a Technic display area some day when I can actually have a home with my own private room, with as many builds displayed as practicable. Pipe dream at MH 01 real estate rates.

My son also very sweetly gave me the Tracked Loader we made a few weeks ago so it can find place above my home work desk, next to the Defender we built during early lockdown.

Re: Lego Technic

The Panigale is now complete and has found its place on the home work shelf. Measures over 12 (32cm) long, 6 (16cm) high and 3 (8cm) wide. 646 piece build. Not perfect but its a decent enough replica of the original within lego format limitations. I’d any day prefer this with its limitations over an out of the box scale model given the personal effort it involves in the build (I do have the latter as well - kindly gifted by Ducati Infinity when they handed me my pre-owned Multistrada).

Had great fun building it along with the kiddo. Some pics at different stages and from different angles.

Coming up next … M 1000RR. Got to find a suitable weekend to work on this one. Going to be a bit more involved I reckon. For context, at the time the Panigale was launched, at 646 pieces, it was the highest part count for a Lego Technic bike (nowhere close to the 3000+ parts Defender build). In contrast, the M 1000RR is a 1920 part count - so going to be significantly more involving to build. Looking forward to that clear line of sight of days. Ganpati should hopefully present a good window.

Re: Lego Technic

Lego 42130 BMW M 1000 RR

Build finally complete.

At 1925 pieces, this is the largest motorcycle made till date under the Lego Technic fold. The size is absolutely stunning and I’ve included comparo pics with the LR Defender (in itself not small by any standard and a 2573 piece build - about 500 more than the BMW) as well as the Panigale. I’ve kept a typical 6” mobile phone as well as a Ducati scale model in some of the pics to provide overall size perspective.

I’ll let the pics do the talking.

Looks wonderful, and with that size probably even more so when actually seeing it.

There's something about these pieces that one wants to make them and admire the creation, but once done, there's a sense of loss which comes from achievement and knowing there's nothing left to be built....

Re: Lego Technic

Lego Technic Heavy-Duty Excavator 42121 Building Kit (Multicolor) -569 Pieces:
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B08G4CKL16/

Had got this to build with my son last week for Rs.4,300 odd and now it's at Rs.3,500

Think it's a pretty good price for a decent sized technic. Son is happy. We spread the build over 4 nights and each night he would wait for me to come from office to build this

Needless to say, more Technics have been added into the cart

Re: Lego Technic

I got my son his first LEGO Technic - 42123 McLaren Senna GTR Racing Sports (https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/m...enna-gtr-42123).

It comes with 830 pieces. I underestimated my son's capability. I thought he would take few days to assemble, but he completed the build in nearly six hours spanning over two days.

Re: Lego Technic

Built this Lego Mustang with the boy. Was mostly him really. Just under 1500 pcs. Relatively straight forward in contrast to some of other builds we’ve done together.

Re: Lego Technic

Got this set recently.

Lego Technic-img20230813wa0000.jpg

Building it with my son. Part1 which includes engine, transmission and front axle as major components is done. I had to help while assembling the sub components with the engine.

Lego Technic-img20230813wa0001.jpg

Part2 which includes rear axles and body seems relatively easy and he is able to manage it on his own.

It's a nice bonding experience with kids. Pleasure to see his excitement when the gear rotation results in the piston movement inside the engine.

Will post a picture of the final model once it is done.

Re: Lego Technic

HI All. I and both of my kids (9 and almost 5) are very much into Lego. My elder keeps building some or the other thing with the pieces we have.
I have recently got both of them 2 sets of knock off legos as I got offer on noon.com and my dad was in Dubai for a leisure trip so ordered to his hotel.

Today, when I go to aliexpress, I see so many of the replica LEGO sets at mouthwatering prices but we all know getting it through them is impossible. Has anyone here found any other place or way to get replica LEGO sets from any other website or aliexpress at reasonable rates shipped to India and also to avoid customs?

Re: Lego Technic

Finally done. Collaborative effort from my son and myself. He did most of the work.
This thing is big and wife is already asking "where the h*** are we gonna keep this?"
This is NOT Original lego technic but as mentioned in my previous post, I got it from Dubai through my dad.

Being a replica, i was scared about missing
pieces, thankfully nothing is missing and few extras are there too. One pic has minifigure for scale (not part of set).
Parts quality are top notch and lego like. No ill fitting parts and everything is proper.
One can even follow the original lego manual (using lego builder app) to build this set as steps would work here too. The manual that came with the set is like more compressed with lesser pages and few steps they have jumbled (not wrong) compared to original lego manual. We used the lego manual too at certain places where the paper manual got confusing.

Building Lego technic and that too with so many pieces was fun but tiring. Requires good amount of concentration and precision. Going back or reverting what has been done is difficult.
