Re: Lego Technic

My generous wife gifted me this lego set last week and it sure was a fun build. Easily my biggest build thus far and I didn't expect this to be this big

Now to plan a proper display setup for this beauty.

Re: Lego Technic

My cousin went for business to few cities in China so got this through him. I ordered it through a Alibaba seller who shipped to his hotel address in Guangzhao.
Cost me ₹1650 or so landed to his hotel.

This is NOT Original Lego Technic.

Have you considered putting it vertically on wall using IKEA Pegboard? I know some companies design purpose built hanging frame for such lego cars but I feel the IKEA Pegboard with hooks is a cheaper option.

Shall have a look at it. But I don't think wall mounting would be a good idea. I live in an old house and drilling is a pain.

Thinking of placing a plywood plank between my two bookshelf speakers and keep this on the plank.

Something like this

Yes that is also a good option. I have done similar plank / shelf above my TV. Right now I have the Porsche RSR 911 which is 50 cms in length and I have this one too (McLaren F1) which we haven't built yet so will need to keep it besides this and it is even longer than Porsche RSR.
Same case here that it is old building and such.

Jut quoted your old post to ask you something. Are you into building alternate models of lego sets? Like for the Land Rover Defender you have, not sure if you know but there is a forklift model with FREE instructions on rebrickable.
The model is stunning and super functional (check its video on your tube, search for "Lego land rover defender forklift", there is a 4-5 min video). I strongly recommend you to check this as you may be inclined to break your defender and make the forklift.

If you have struggle finding instructions, let me know.

Anyone else here who does this? Build MOCs of existing models? Does anyone know source of FREE instructions?

Re: Lego Technic

Since we don't have much engagement in this thread, I would request Admins to rename it as "Lego" thread instead of "Lego Technic" so people can post regular lego stuff too.

I will try to take liberty and post some...

So, how was the experience? And complexity? I have the same set (non lego, check my earlier post) but haven't shown to my kid yet as I have to give him only post his exams and not before that so I will need to wait for at least 2 months before we can start building this.

It was a great experience, it is a bit tough and took us around 4 days to build. While in the last steps the chain broke, and now i have one without chain, and don't have the patience to break and build it again.

The end result is amazing though.

Re: Lego Technic

I happened to spend a day in Amsterdam earlier this week. I came across a Lego shop. So I had a quick look. I am very interested in all this technic Lego.

I have not bought any kits yet. But I will admit I have come close now and then.

Just a couple of images from what they had on display

Lego Technic-img_5794.jpg

Lego Technic-img_5795.jpg

I always liked the very large digger they had. But this crane is also awesome!!

Lego Technic-img_5796.jpg

Obviously, as an ex-merchant seaman, this Titanic kit holds fascination for me too. I have seen the finished one. Quite amazing, all kinds of bits come apart so you can see the inside of the bridge, cabin, boiler room, engines etc.

Lego Technic-img_5797.jpg

I am amazed at the constant stream of new kits that Lego puts out. I had not seen any of these before. Very cool!!
