Re: Aero India: Feb 2015 at Yelahanka Air Force base, Bangalore

Went for today's show. Couldn't stay for the entire session due to some appointments which I had to attend ( so I had to miss the Sarang display ).

I opted for the ADVA. The crowds was very less, but there were bottlenecks where the passes were issued. I had booked online ( 600/- per head ). Took the printout and the ID card to the venue. They verify it and give the pass. There is ample parking space, but I think during weekend it might get full.

There are two gates to enter into ADVA area, so that is another bottleneck. Only inside you get access to water/food stuff. It is pretty sunny and limited seating.

But even after all these, it brings smiles to see the various teams perform and when the multi million dollar fighters roar in front of you.

Is "Business" parking separate from the general visitors' parking areas? Would someone who has been there on a Business pass let me know where that parking is and how to access it please?

Thanks and cheers

Not sure about this year but last year the exhibition parking was different compared to ADVA. Basically this parking was to the left of the highway and a little ahead of the airbase. From here they shuttled people to the entry with the help of buses. I guess its the same this time too.

Nice Pictures, I plan to visit this Saturday, I know it would be too crowded, but no options. For how long was the show, and is there any schedule for a day?

^^ Yes. General visitor ticket holders have parking on left side when driving towards air base. For business visitor ticket holders you have to drive past air base, take U turn and park inside air base campus on other side of the road.
From parking area you will be taken in a shuttle bus to towards entry gate.

Do note down your gate number and parking area, last time there was signboards all across mentioning the same on the road.

Audioholic and mpksuhas, thank you for the prompt and helpful response.

Mods, pardon this one-liner response, there's no "Thanks" button in this thread.

Cheers

Thanks for the photos!
BTW, on the Brietling aircraft, do I see an acrobat standing atop of each of those?

EDIT: Googled around & found the answer

Very nicely captured photos. Could you let me know more on this ADVA, is that a separate place away from the general crowd.

Had been to watch the show from behind the airfield only because did not want to spend too much time in traffic, parking and walking. Have been attending the show nearly every time since it started in Bangalore. Had been on Dodballapur road and took the turn towards Nagenahally and stopped at a place called Gantigenahalli where there is lake (now dried up). A lot many people come to this place to watch the show and now there are many smal time stalls selling sundry food items. The morning session I felt was a disaster since I hardly saw any action reached at about 10.30, not sure if I missed it by then. Compensated in the noon session.

Here is the layout for 2013 AeroIndia and it is similar to this year's layout (Couldn't find this year's layout online, but I remember details from yesterday's Deccan Herald special pullout). The ADVA can be seen on the middle of the left side in this image.

In my opinion, the ADVA is the general crowd, the lowest priced tickets!

The show is approximately 2 hours and it starts at 10AM & then at 2PM. I went for the first day , so there was only the 2 PM show. It starts on time :-).

Yes, the parking is seperate from general visitors. You have to take a U-turn after the airbase and come back to the living quarters for the business parking and the entries are in gate-2->5.

I had opted for ADVA ( 600/- ). The entry is in gate-8. The parking is right next to the viewing area ( but still a good walk )

The parking and the arrangements are exactly same.

From ADVA one cannot see the static displays and I can guess that during weekends it would be crowded to brim

Thanks for sharing photos. Gives a very nice perspective on how the live show would be! I've never visited these shows ever. I think I must drop by with my 100-400mm lens.

That's a scary accident indeed with the redbulls team. Seems that they wont be flying for the rest of the show:
