If you are ordering something anyway, I have my eye on a Lambrettas & a Messerschmitts. Could look at sharing the shipping if it works out.
I have a number of these 1:76 models from Oxford Diecast. They are really quite tiny and nice. Meant ideally for use as part of the scenery around those elaborate model railway set ups.

Check out the link in the post by BHPian vinay kamath. IXO makes very good 1:43 models and this ends your search nut it is pretty pricey.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

This Scale Model Thread is undisputedly illuminating. Here are some of my models. In addition, I thought of including a few pictures of my Aircraft and Train models. I even inserted an image of a small plastic Indian car collection at the end.

Thank you!
But sadly they don't ship anymore to India. I have a friend coming over in a couple of months, let me see if I can get him to carry it.
We'll take it offline regarding your models.

Any size is good enough considering how tough it is to find a neat one!

I am looking specifically for the oldest generation Amby, the one you provided looks more like a assortment of parts mounted on new age(Lols! ) Amby.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

I have not posted for quite a long time, did not get a chance to get something unique. A colleague was coming from the US so decided to get something after a long time. Decided on the 1:!8 C12 Zonda by Motormax.
Approx cost Rs 3300/-
Decent built, will post more detail pictures later. Here is quick phone cam pic.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

I am mainly into GLs, TLVs, and HWs.

But to import these from oversees via the customs route is very expensive at times (excluding the cost of the vehicle and the shipping charges). Its the 40% customs that hurts a lot, something which you cannot neglect as the product is already there.
So what is the best option out here?

Is there any alternate seller in India who sells these cars at reasonable pricing. (I am not referring the likes of Flipkart, Amazon india, scaleartsin, dreamcarmodels etc).

Something that caters explicitly for hobbyists and has an on line presence (as I am based out of Pune)

Regards,

Re: The Scale Model Thread

This is my humble garage, recently started to collect. I like mostly vintage & classic cars but few of the newest cars interests me as well.

I recently bought a 1947 Cadillac (Sky Blue) at Model Art, Forum Mall, Koramangala and came to know that the principals, online store (Hobbytoys) is based in Bangalore only. I was looking for Lamborghini models in 1:32, googled their address and gave them a ring. They asked me to come to their store and pick it up and they will waive off shipping charges and give some discount as well. Went myself to pick up three Lamborghinis (Aventator, Murcielago, Huracan) and Citroen DS19 in 1:32 by Bburago. These guys were really humble and were willing to help. They have collections from Greenlight, Signature Models, Bburago, Maisto, New Ray etc. They threw in a 20% discount and no shipping charges.

If you are in and around Bangalore and you are a collector, you check them out for better discounts, address below.

I have been looking for Jaguar MK2, Studebaker Goldhawk, Benz 500k Roadster, Cadillac Fleetwood, Chrysler Airflow, 1941 Plymouth, Buick Skylark, 1953 Nash, etc. All these model cars are available either as an import from China or UK/US but they are expensive. I keep looking out for better and effective options to collect cars, if any of the active collectors have other means and source, please share.

Happy Collecting.

IDF Merkava MkIII

Saw a lot of car models on this thread and wondered if I should post photos of some of the scale models I worked with. While not a car, but still interesting:

Israel Defense Forces Merkava (Hebrew for Chariot) Mk III

The Merkava is unique in the world of Main Battle Tanks. Where as traditional tanks carry their engines at the rear of the tank, the Merkava has its engine installed in the front. This enables the engine block to offer additional protection from frontal attacks.

Weighing 65 tons, the Merkava is equipped with an air cooled V12 1200 HP diesel engine and has a top cruising speed of 60 kmph.

The Scale Model Thread-p_20150815_201644.jpg
120 MM Smooth Bore Main Gun. Note the .50 caliber gun above the main gun. It is remotely operated by the gunner.

The Scale Model Thread-p_20150815_201654.jpg
The tank has been designed for urban warfare, the type of warfare that the M1 Abrams and T72 were found wanting in.

The Scale Model Thread-p_20150815_202022.jpg

The Scale Model Thread-p_20150815_202045.jpg
2 7.62mm Guns. Also equipped with a 60 MM mortar which can be operated from inside the tank.

The Scale Model Thread-p_20150815_202059.jpg
The turret is electrically operated. No hydraulics.

That is certainly one interesting war machine! And trust the Israelis to come up with their own adaptation of defence high technology. The air-cooled 1200 hp diesel engine puts paid to all the arguments against air-cooling in high output engines, particularly diesel engines!
I have worked for years on MWM/Deutz air-cooled diesel generators (upto 300 kw/402 hp) for emergency generator duty while on MOL's car carriers. These units have proved completely reliable taking rated load for 8 hours at a stretch.
