Re: The Scale Model Thread

In 1995, dad brought home a used Bajaj Priya. Till then we depended on public transport for family travel. We were in a village with limited transport facilities, so traveling in public transport meant waiting for a long time for the bus, pushing ourselves into a crowded bus and then looking around in hopes to find someone leaving their seat so that we can grab it. The addition of the scooter changed the scene completely, we no longer had to wait for any buses, we could just hop in and leave. I always had good memories of this scooter and many years down the lane I decided to make a model of the scooter for myself in a medium I am comfortable with - wood.

I used a CNC pattern available on the internet as a base for my build. The individual pieces were cut out of teak on a scroll saw and glued together to form the body. Did some power carving with Dremel to make a few parts like the seats. The first model I built was not a perfect match with the original Priya, but a close one. There were few parts missing, like the spare wheel on the back. The handle was also fixed straight and I felt it looked odd, but parked these items for a later date.

A few months later , someone reached out to me to make a similar piece. I sensed an opportunity to fix the missing pieces, made some changes on the original design and got the closest model made. I also added Priya logo and the number plates too on the new model.

I have left out the specific details on the build process, but if anyone has questions, I am happy to share the details.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

The first car I ever owned was a Red Maruti Suzuki 800 DX 1984 model. SS80 4 Door. Bought used in 1996.
A friend offered me this 1:43 scale model of its original avatar the 2 door Suzuki Alto of the 1970’s and I just grabbed it. Its a rare piece. Am happy I was able to snaffle it before someone else reacted.
Its a great way for me to remember the first car I ever bought with my own money.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Added a 1:87 scale Lallaguda WAP 7 to my collection last week. The locomotive is proportioned exceptionally well. It was fascinating to see the details spot on especially on this scale.

For those wondering, the other one is a DB E10 series locomotive that was gifted by my great grandfather and its come down generations. From what I hear, this very locomotive was manufactured sometime around the early 1960’s. 4 coaches and a wagon car is also there. I shall post a few photos of the same in the coming days.

The WAP 7 is based on a H0 scale. I’m not sure about the DB E10 though.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

The first car in our family was a bottle green 1960, Fiat 1100 Select. I came home in that car too. Loads of memories. Unfortunately it was sold in 1993.

I had to get this scale model! Though, I was not able to find the exact model, but got hold of this 1956 Fiat 1100 in green. It is in 1:43 scale. Thanks to my school friend who got it for me from UK.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

A very nice little Porsche RUF CTR. Rodeo Concept. Received yesterday.
Almost reminiscent of this new Dakar in a way or the Baja.
Interesting model maker from China - AR - Almost Real.
And this being a 1:64 the detailing is quite fantastic.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

It's no secret that scale models are incredibly popular in the world of hobbies and recreation. They offer a sense of accomplishment that is hard to come by in real life and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
I've collected a few over the years that I like.

Max Verstappen's RB13 (1:18)

Sebastian Vettel's SF71H (1:43)

2018 Lamborghini Urus (1:18). My obsession with the Urus led me to buy two scale models

Re: The Scale Model Thread

1:43 BMW 750iL Tomorrow Never Dies
The BMW 750iL was Bond's provided vehicle for the 18th James Bond feature film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

Used during sequences set in Germany, the car came equipped with a security system that sprayed tear gas and delivered electric shocks to intruders. The vehicle also came equipped with a fingerprint-protected safe hidden behind the passenger airbag compartment. The 750iL could be controlled remotely via Bond's Ericsson cell phone, which flipped open to reveal an LCD display and trackpad. Defense mechanisms included a roof-mounted rocket launcher, self-sealing and re-inflating tyres, a cable cutting device in the front bonnet emblem and a caltrop dispenser under the rear bumper

During a chase sequence in the Atlantic Hotel parking garage, its windshield (despite able to withstand sledgehammer blows) and rear window are shot out by a combination of grenades and assault rifle gunfire from Elliot Carver's henchmen who were at the wheel of two Mercedes S Classes, an Opel Senator Mk2 and a Ford Scorpio Mk1. Bond eventually eludes the thugs and drives the 750iL off the roof of the garage via remote control. The car ironically ends up crashing into an Avis car rental store at street level. In a deleted scene, while leaving Bond made the excuse "Left the keys in the car" to the civilians.

All of the car's offensive/defensive features and some tidbits from the movie scene and have been modelled in this little diorama.

Re: My Scaled Down Dreams | Scale model collection of cars, bikes & racing machines

Being a Ford Endeavour/ Everest fan and owning one, I bought a model of it.

The Scale Model Thread-5ba979e911d24f29811d762f88e9c676.jpeg

Details:
Scale: 1:18.
Model: Diecast 1st generation Ford Everest left hand drive.
Colours: Red and Diffused silver.
Size: 25x10x9 cm.
Weight: 3 kgs.

All these come from China and are available on Ali express, but it can’t ship to India. So I bought it from a local importer.
Although my Endeavour is grey, I still love it.

Czech Police(Veřejná Bezpečnost - VB) Lada 1500 Police cars appear in several scenes in the James Bond movie - the Living Daylights.

In this diorama(depicting a scene from the movie), the Lada just had its body cut from the chassis by a laser on Bond's Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

The P7 looks neat. Do you mind sharing on how to get one. Do they have other IR Loco's too since I am diesel fan and would prefer that.
