Hey, I just visited Automania today. They have an AWESOME new line-up of Kyoshos, literally overflowing from the racks.
I'll try to get some photos.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Hello friends, Rakhesh of Automania, Mumbai has indeed received some fantastic Kyosho models in addition to the Auto Art, Minichamps and Starline ones that he had earlier. Last week, I made a trip to Mumbai specifically to get two Kyosho models that I was longing to lay my hands on ever since Rakhesh sent me the list (almost two months bacl).

Recent additions to my collection include Kyosho's Fiat 131 Abarth (Portugal rally winner) of 1981 and a Lancia Delta Integrale (Sanremo rally 3rd place) of 1993, both in 1:18 scale and excellently finished.

The prices that Rakhesh sells the Kyoshos are much lesser than what the Gift Centre gentleman (Nikhil) sells for. Some months back, I bought a BMW X5 Kyosho model (1:18 scale) from him for Rs. 6500/-,almost Rs. 1500/- more than the actual price. This hurts especially for genuine collectors like me who have to plan well in advance even to buy a single model.

I do not have any thing personal against of for any retailer / wholeseller but this hurts.

On another note, I just came across some intricately detailed 1:10 scale models of superbikes by Welly. Currently there are 3-4 models in this scale available. Welly has also introduced some 1:18 scale models of motorcycles. Welly's bike models are far, far better than what Maisto offers in 1:12 and 1:18 scale. Maisto's 1:18 scale models of bikes (and most cars) are toys at best!

Though this looks decent in the pictures, I really dont think the quality will be that great. BBurago has lost it after Maisto bought it over. The chrome wheels on all their cars are pure yuck. Infact Maisto's own quality is a notch above the Bburagos.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@usaf23:Welcome to the forum! And yes,Gift Centre and Automania are two stores you must visit if you seek AutoArt,Kyosho and Minichamps scale-models in Mumbai.

@Zibby:Nice 1:18 Plymouth Prowler.Motormax?

@Dippy:I agree with you on the quality of Bburago scale-models,these days. All Maisto's done since they took over the brand is drive its name into the mud. With the exception of the 1:18 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and perhaps the 1:18 Abarth 500,I can't think of one decent model from resurrected Bburago.I bought the 1:18 Lamborghini Reventon by Bburago soon after it was launched because it was the only 1:18 scale-model of the Lamborghini Reventon out there. But I always felt that a car like the Reventon deserved better and, sure enough,I replaced my Bburago with an AutoArt rendition when it became available.Won't bother with the 1:18 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 by Bburago.I hope AutoArt makes this one.

Speaking of the arrival of Automania's Kyosho consignment, here's a list of the scale-models that I recieved from them yesterday.(I had ordered two more Kyoshos but those,I've been told won't arrive until next month along with Automania's Minichamps consignment.)Can't post pictures as I am in college in Karnataka and will only get to see my precious new acquisitions once I get back in May.Cheers!

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Those are some sweet pictures usaf. Welcome to the forum and the Scale Model Thread. My favourites would be the Range Rover and the G55 AMG. I've been trying really hard to source a G55 AMG or even a G500 but to no avail. I really want one of those :(

Welcome usaf23 on the forum, you have got some awesome stuff with you.

By the way which store in malaysia do you purchase your stuff from. I had recently been there, toy city and toys r us both had some Maisto and BBurago but all was way costlier than India.

1:24 Mini cooper was retailing @ MYR 99 (1485 indian rupees) where as the same is available for around 550 bucks in ebay India.

I have to go again so please tell me some shop to get nice stuff.

By the way Some godd stuff for sale on ebay India and team Bhp Classified

The elusive G55 AMG, it's on my list too... I manage to get other vehicles from all the top names, but the G55 is still on my want list... it is just too classic in design and finish, and with AA doing it in scale, all the qualities of the actual truck are replicated impressively.
