Re: The Scale Model Thread

Did you get the Mehari and Traction Avant in India? I am looking out for those!

The A Type and The Ami - Both in 1:43 by Norev

The Magnificent Futuristic DS by Welly in 1:32 - this is a truly iconic car for me because it saved President Charles De Gaulle from an assassination attempt - beautifully portrayed in the iconic film The Day of the Jackal (1973). One of my all time favourite films ever.

One 2CV by Schuco in 1:64 from the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only

Multiple 2CV’s, Meharis and Traction Avants and a couple of C5’s - all by Norev in 1:64.

The 2CV and its unique indelible connection with rural france.

The Mehari and its amazing relevance to the Sahara and Le Maroc and L’Algerie and Paris-Dakar and Sidi Bel Ebbes and all.

I love the Traction Avant too - so far ahead of its time with its front wheel drive and monocoque construction and suicide doors and superb low slung classy shape and immense road holding capabilities. As exemplified beautifully in La Voiture de la Resistance in the lovely film The Great Escape and of course in the incredible TV Serial - Inspector Maigret.

And as a small bonus, for interested folks, here is a picture of a real life 2CV which was displayed at the showroom in Madras and a real life Traction Avant which was displayed at the Showroom in Bangalore at the time of Citroen’s launch last year.

Scale Model Cars. I think this is my favourite hobby of all.

Love the 250 GTO. Cars don’t come much more special than the GTO250.
I have a friend who used to one one. They were never cheap, but he bought his several decades ago. He had to sell it due to a very messy divorce. I think it sold for 1,5 million guilders at the time. The a lot of money. About fifteen years later he bought the same car back again. I haven’t spoken to him recently, but I know he sold it not to long ago.

Some of these cars make silly, if not to say obscene amounts of money at auctions. A few change hands between private collectors for undisclosed amount of money. Probably even bigger amounts!

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Was waiting a while for these to come through eBay from England and Canada.

1. Dark Green Lancia Delta Integrale 1:64 from Hotwheels.
2. Silver R195/1500 Porsche 550 Spyder 1954 1:43 from Brumm
3. Red and White R233 BiColore Porsche 550 Spyder RS Stradale 1954 1:43 from Brumm

One more little Porsche awaited eagerly because thats the tiny 1:65 550A Spyder of 1955 (the James Dean car)

Just saw your query.
Yes they were available at the Citroen showrooms in Madras and Bangalore. I bought them there.

I think that's a 2003GA (not F2004), still a nice car though (once you've cleaned it )

Edit: I just released you have some missing parts , maybe this is an F2004.

It is definitely a F2004, the model name is marked under the car. Yes, you are right - some parts of missing

This is a model of a 2004 car.

There were several subtle differences going from the 2003 car to the 2004 car, and then cars also evolve during the season.

I'll point out a couple of differences.

* The side mirrors (broken / missing on this model) are almost in line with the steering wheel, like they were on the F2004. On the F2003-GA, they were a little further back towards the driver.

* The front wing has two dive planes, like on the F2004. On the F2003-GA, there was a single longer dive plane. See the attached picture, where the "old" and "new" both refer to evolution during the 2004 season.

Can always count on a hallowed scale model collector to spot the differences .

I personally manage to differentiate the two based on the T wing on F2004 (behind the air box), but Swami's model seems to be missing that as well.

P.S., recently got some decaling done on mine.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

My little tiny Silver 1:64 Porsche 550 A Spyder Convertible Sports car from Maisto has just arrived today via eBay from California.
Those special grip tyres are an excellent touch of detail though they aren’t rubber.
Lovely little car. I like it so much that I’ve over-photographed it.
Will keep this one next to my bedside I think, for a time. Wish I could experience a real example of this car someday!
