Tough one. Darth Vader was flying his distinctive Imperial Tie Fighter in Star Wars : Episode IV....so something as maneuverable and as powerful as his Tie Fighter, I wonder what would that be? Su-27 or 35 perhaps?

These have all been assembled and customised by me from plastic model kits, see earlier posts on this thread.

I didn't know this but it matches the description of this aircraft beautifully !

Re: Scale Models - Aircraft, Battle Tanks & Ships

Knowing Foxbat it could be the Su-47 Berkut. There is no chance of it being the B-2 or the TSR given that we are talking of Comrade Foxbat

Yipee. Berkut -
Another first for the thread.
You deserve the Lenin award. I was looking at the photos of your IAF collection a few pages back. It is so motivating. I think I should attempt something similar.

Scale Models - Aircraft, Battle Tanks & Ships

The Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut (Russian: Сухой Су-47 Беркут, lit. 'Golden Eagle') (NATO reporting name Firkin), also designated S-32 and S-37 (not to be confused with the twin-engined delta canard designoffered by Sukhoi in the early 1990s under the designation Su-37) during initial development, was an experimental supersonic jet fighter developed by the JSC Sukhoi Company. A distinguishing feature of the aircraft was its forward-swept wing that gave the aircraft excellent agility and maneuverability. While serial production of the type never materialized, the sole aircraft produced served as a technology demonstrator prototype for a number of advanced technologies later used in the 4.5 generation fighter Su-35 and current fifth-generation jet fighter Su-57.

Originally known as the S-37, Sukhoi redesignated its advanced test aircraft as the Su-47 in 2002. Officially nicknamed Berkut (Russian: Беркут) (the Russian word for the golden eagle), the Su-47 was originally built as Russia's principal testbed for composite materials and sophisticated fly-by-wire control systems, as well as new airframe technologies.

TsAGI has long been aware of the advantages of forward-swept wings, with research including the development of the Tsibin LL and study of the captured Junkers Ju 287 in the 1940s. At high angles of attack, the wing tips remain uninstalled allowing the aircraft to retain aileron control. Conversely to more conventional rear-swept wings, forward sweep geometrically creates increased angle of incidence of the outer wing sections when the wing bends under load. The wings experience higher bending moments, leading to a tendency for the wings to fail structurally at lower speeds than for a straight or aft-swept wing.

The project was launched in 1983 on order from the Soviet Air Force. But when the USSR dissolved, funding was frozen and development continued only through funding by Sukhoi. Like its US counterpart, the Grumman X-29, the Su-47 was primarily a technology demonstrator for future Russian fighters such as the Sukhoi Su-57.

This is from a plastic kit by a Chinese (oops didn't know before ordering ) company by the name Hobby Boss and has great fit and decent detail. Given the rarity of the subject there are not many options if you want this particular aircraft.

Only one aircraft was ever made Serial "01" and all pictures of the aircraft are of this airframe during its testing life cycle.

Nothing couldn't have been more black or as sinister as the Berkut to be Darth Vader's personal ride.

As usual, another great build from Foxbat Airworks Corporation. Probably not a very a common project among scale modelers, so very well done!!

Yes, I had missed getting the 1:400 model( hogan) from an Indian retailer 4-5 years go..it costed 4.5k INR I think. Limited numbers manufactured, insanely popular, hoarded by a few and being sold at inflated prices considering the demand it has .

1:200 Boeing 757-200 G-STRX "Ed Force One" The Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11 (Herpa)

In continuation of my earlier post about the Iron Maiden 747, I got my hands on another Iron Maiden model - a 757 from their earlier 2011 world tour.

Ed Force One - 2011 Final Frontier World Tour
The Final Frontier World Tour was a concert tour by Iron Maiden in support of the band's 15th album, The Final Frontier, which began on 9 June 2010 in Dallas and ended in London, England on 6 August 2011.

This aircraft was the second 757 to bear an Iron Maiden livery and came from Bruce Dickinson’s 'day job' airline, Gatwick based charter carrier Astraeus Airlines. The first one was another Boeing 757 (G-OJIB) in nearly the same livery that was used in their 2008 Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. Ed Force One took Iron Maiden to no less than 39 countries, where the band performed a total of 100 shows.

Re: Scale Models - Aircraft, Battle Tanks & Ships

1:200 Airbus A321-211 Air India VT-PPX (Herpa)
This model will always be special to me. VT-PPX, as Flight No. AI679, from Mumbai was the first ever domestic flight to taxi into and disembark passengers at the new Terminal at Mangalore Airport. My family and I were onboard that flight back in the first week of August 2010 and there was quite a welcome at the new terminal. Earlier that morning, an Air India Express Boeing 737 from the Middle East had arrived at the new terminal making it the first ever aircraft to do it.

As the aircraft landed on RWY 24 and at turned into the new terminal at the end of the Runway, I could see the spot where IX812 ran off the cliff which was saddening. It was the first fatal air accident in Mangalore Airport's history. Since then, there had been atleast three minor accidents involving Air India Express 737s - two landed short of the runway and damaged a few lights. A third case where the 737 skidded, crossed a storm drain and got stuck in the mud.

This was also the first time I had seen and landed on the new Runway(06/24). The old and shorter Runway(09/27) used to lead straight into the old terminal. The old new terminal is now a dedicated cargo terminal and Coast Guard Air Station. Th old terminal also saw repairs to an Indian Navy MiG-29K that landed in Mangalore after an emergency a few years ago. Recently a P-8I did a touch and go at the new runway.

Airbus A321
The A321 is a stretched derivative of the A320. Changes from the A320 include a fuselage stretch and some modifications to the wing. The fuselage was lengthened by a 4.27 m (14 ft 0 in) plug ahead of the wing and a 2.67 m (8 ft 9 in) plug behind it, making the A321 6.94 m (22 ft 9 in) longer than the A320.The length increase required the overwing window exits of the A320 to be converted into door exits and repositioned in front of and behind the wings. To maintain performance, double-slotted flaps and minor trailing edge modifications were included, increasing the wing area from 124 m2 (1,330 sq ft) to 128 m2 (1,380 sq ft).The centre fuselage and undercarriage were reinforced to accommodate a 9,600 kg (21,200 lb) increase in maximum takeoff weight, taking it to 83,000 kg (183,000 lb).

Having been an old Airbus customer(Indian Airlines/Air India), the first of 20 A321s started getting delivered to Air India from June 2007 onwards till August 2010 (VT-PPA to PPX). Atleast five of these A321s(including VT-PPX) have been handed over to DRDO for various projects

If only an Air India A319 was available, it would have completed the Air India A320 family.
